my Mom was a Piano Prodigy. She started learning at 7 and by 9 she was giving other people lessons. She was accepted to study by a student of Liszt. But music wasn't her passion. She wanted to be a writer. When she became a single mother she became a full time piano teacher after trying many other options. It allowed her to live, but never filled her psyche. The baseball game Robin Williams' character skipped on the day he met his wife-to-be was Game 6 of the 1975 World Series. It's often ranked as the greatest baseball game of all time.
Robin Williams truly was one of the greatest. If there was a Mount Rushmore of actors, he would would take the place of George Washington. RIP Robin Williams, you will never be forgotten.
That hello was because this MIT professor was having an attitude toward junior college students, although there are many junior colleges that are quality ones and far less expensive than starting out at a four year school.
Robin Williams seemed to play the Therapist who he would have wanted when he was that age, which never happened, because of his early successful career in comedy.
The character of younger pal , Morgan O'Malley, is of course, Ben Affleck's younger brother, Casey. He's now been in many movies as a star, himself. Two of my favorites are the heart-wrenching Manchester By the Sea and the heroic true story The Finest Hours.
BEST MOVIE EVER! I have no idea how many times I have watched this movie. Maybe even triple digits. You are already my favorite movie reactor on UA-cam. HOWEVER if you were to react to my favorite movie of all time. SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT. I would be convinced that you were some type of God sent here to Earth just to make us common folks happy 😁😆😁😀 Smokey and the bandits very old school from the 70s. It has Burt Reynolds and Sally Fields in it. Some people might think it's a little goofy about running across America from the police in a trans am but it's way more than that to me. And I would dare say millions of people in my generation. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season ❤.
Your reactions are always peppered with delightful comments (too many to mention) and here you even managed to quote GDPR! 25 years ago I had to go and see about a girl. It changed my life, never regretted it.
When they were trying to pitch this movie to studio executives they were surprised that Affleck and Damon were so young, based on how it was written they assumed someone much older had to write that, it seemed too packed with wisdom and insight for two guys that young to have written it.
Minnie Driver to me is a very underrated actress. Especially after her performance in Grosse Pointe Blank. Personally, John Cusack, Minnie Driver, Dan Aykroyd and Jeremy Piven were all awesome in that movie! Definitely a must see. Hell, even Joan Cusack was fantastic. (Just a bit hard to swallow these people who don't know how to separate their jobs from their personal lives anymore)
Yeah, this movie is why, whenever I'm asked what kind of man I want, my answer is always, "I want a man who will slide his ticket across the table for me." 🤗
This is such a beautiful film with amazing performances. Without Kevin Smith becoming a producer on the film Good Will Hunting, no studio wanted either Matt Damon nor Ben Affleck in the lead roles. Even though they had both written the screenplay, the studios considered them to be unknowns. Kevin Smith, thankfully, convinced them otherwise. Please watch Dogma (1999) Written/Directed/Starring Kevin Smith
that park bench monologue - won Williams the Oscar. deservedly so. and the overall script swings. have sooo many movies that run in the same direction. but you run in odd ways. which is fun. mostly. peace-p
22:33 Yes, that is what happened to you. I have taught remedial math from middle school to college level. I've never found a person who was not good at math. I have found people who were convinced by bad teachers that math is hard, complicated or that they were not intelligent enough. The first step I took was giving them the confidence. Once they realized they were capable, everybody was able to learn and people who have struggled to pass exams to continue their career, passed on the next attempt and with flying colors. I am convinced everyone is good at math, just not everyone knows it.
I also teach math, and there is no person who is trying who is "bad" at math. There are plenty of people who are bad at math because they put absolutely no effort into trying to learn it. Declaring 15 seconds into an explanation of what a quadratic is that, "This too complicated, I can't learn it." is just a copout, They don't even know what it is yet they already know it's "too complicated" without even taking 15 seconds to think about it? No way, I'm not buying it, they are just unwilling to try, that's on them not the teacher.
I could always do math well enough to get by, but absolutely hated it. Mostly because I had to work at it and reading, history, etc, was always really easy for me.
@@allenporter6586 I disagree. I studied engineering, and we had to go through the three semesters of calculus, then diff eq, then partial diff eq, then calculus of the complex number set. There are people that are just very good at spotting the patterns involved and others not so much. I'm not saying one cannot be a competent engineer if it comes less naturally to one, but some do take to it quite naturally, others struggle and it is true that some simply don't have aptitude for it at all. I recall one guy I went to middle school with, he spotted these patterns in math that were so far beyond what we were working on that it was just incredible, and when I took calculus years later I recalled and started to see what that guy was talking about. He was that far ahead of us in how he thought, but sadly he got into various illegal intoxicants and let those rule his life, but people make the choices they make in life.
@@allenporter6586 Some educators view instilling confidence as integral to their pedagogical approach, while others, it seems, do not. When a student says, “I give up” after 15 seconds, it often reveals a historical lack of confidence. As a university lecturer, I thank those teachers who not only teach the curriculum but also build the confidence to engage with it. Hence, I know what camp I’m in.
If you liked this film, you will LOVE "Ordinary People" (1980). It won a host of Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Director and on and on. You will love it, intense drama. Your fans will love seeing this often overlooked classic.

I can't believe we got a theme hospital reference in 2024!
Never change, Dawn. Never change.
The genius of Robin Williams has no boundaries comedic actors can do drama and extremely well ie Robin Williams
Dawn, you should watch The Fisher King. One of Robin Williams best movies.
Fantastic movie
I love that movie one of the best 😊👍
Did you notice that at the start of the film Robin Williams calls Matt Damon "chief" and by the end he calls him "son"
He was a foster kid, now he’s aged out of the system.
Ben Affleck & Matt Damon wrote this film and won an Oscar for it.
Hurrah!🍿
I'm curious Dawn, what are libraries like in Scotland?
oh - you beed to watch As Good as it Gets now for sure - not connected at all but one of the best 90's films 🥰
No you pick a Great One ❤❤❤👍🙏💯🌹🌹🌹😎
Pre echoing 'that's the good stuff' +++
Yeah, this movie is why, whenever I'm asked what kind of man I want, my answer is always, "I want a man who will slide his ticket across the table for me." 🤗
This is such a beautiful film with amazing performances. Without Kevin Smith becoming a producer on the film Good Will Hunting, no studio wanted either Matt Damon nor Ben Affleck in the lead roles. Even though they had both written the screenplay, the studios considered them to be unknowns. Kevin Smith, thankfully, convinced them otherwise. Please watch Dogma (1999)
Written/Directed/Starring Kevin Smith
Since Will is over 18, he's no longer in foster care. The house is about the most he can afford on a janitor salary
that park bench monologue - won Williams the Oscar. deservedly so. and the overall script swings. have sooo many movies that run in the same direction. but you run in odd ways. which is fun. mostly.
There's like over 200 buildings in MIT's campus. Major universities in the US are huge.
I worked at MIT and everyone always refers to their building by the number.
Silicon Valley in the early 90s, right at the start of the internet boom, would have been the perfect place for someone like Will
I just realized that the scene with the first therapist, Matt Damon is wearing a Shelby Cobra Jacket. He went on to play Shelby in Ford vs Ferrari.
Ugh I had to stop watching when she was wintering on about "where's the foster parents?" just after the bench scene
Girl is just thick af
If you liked this film, you will LOVE "Ordinary People" (1980). It won a host of Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Director and on and on. You will love it, intense drama. Your fans will love seeing this often overlooked classic.
Great movie. Some parts really hit home for me.
OMG girl, Will is over 21. He is not at foster care anymore.
The first therapist was the late Am writer George Plimpton, also known for some crazy sports docs where he tried to play football quarterback, baseball player, etc. Back in the 60s or 70s. They were fun and silly. Basically got his butt handed to him !!
