I’m so confused. Unless the mist has the ability to reverse Sarah’s disease then she still shouldn’t be able to breathe. Just because it doesn’t affect young people doesn’t mean it won’t kill those who are already unable to breathe regular air.
The Elderly couple was just so wholesome it made me feel just so sad having to see them just stay there. However, they decided that it was their time and I would have also respected that.
Hey Matieu, how about telling the soldier you have 5 survivors that need help in your building so he can bring even more masks up? No? You're just gonna get 1 extra mask for the two people that rescued you, your wife, and daughter? Cool, cool...Good luck with that.
This movie needed to explain what the gas is and where it came from, but I was able to find a bit of lore about it. Apparently, the earthquake was so strong it caused cracks to open deep within the Earth where the gas had been for millions of years. There is enough gas that the whole of Europe has been covered in it except for the United Kingdom because it isn't connected to mainland Europe and is therefore safe. The rest of the world is also unaffected. Other than that, that's all the information I could find.
But why does it only kill grown people? That makes no sense. Volcanic gasses either smell really bad and kill you, smell really bad or a short moment and then kill you really hard, or are co2/co and just suffocate you. No chemical agent discriminates.
The only reason I could see for it not effecting kids, is because of some underdeveloped within the body. But that is so insane of a streach that I can't even fathom it.
Yeah, like what Signal Snowtop said, I thought it could potentially have to do with the body chemistry and a certain hormone being produced only after puberty or vice versa, but still. They needed to explain that using actual scientific research and by literally telling us something that distinctly changes after a person reaches adulthood. Instead they just left that completely unknown and it was very unconvincing. Not only that, but it's not like the gas itself could undo an autoimmune disorder (also called bubble baby disease), right? Like if anything it would do the opposite. I've never heard of a toxic gas that literally KILLS healthy people but then magically ALSO CURES an insanely rare and dangerous/potentially lethal disease. That's completely bullshit. Like it wasn't just that she was fine in the world all along and the doctors misdiagnosed her, I think that it's supposed to be that the gas cures her disorder -- otherwise why would that other boy with the same condition be fine as well? People with that condition can't even go into open air, especially not air ridden with tiny particles. AND at the end, in the scene with Sarah running, it shows her, the boy and that other girl with dark hair from the zoom session (who also has the condition according to the movie) all going through the field. Even if it's not supposed to be a real scene, it's supposed to symbolize they're all free now, so how can three people who have lived in a tiny bubble their entire lives all miraculously be able to go outside in unfiltered air by the end of the movie? It's a nice thought, but extremely unrealistic. It's not even like any of them received that special Canadian treatment, it just kinda *happened.* So yeah, to sum it all up: in any case, that part of the plot is disappointingly unconvincing, and damaging to the rest of the movie's logic/storyline.
Lucien is a mega chad, he offered to sacrifices himself for the little girl, he doesn't want to leave his house and told Mathieu to focus on his daughter, he confidently said he has a beautiful life with his wife, he died besides his beloved wife in their bed finally resting forever
Yeah, normally younger kids suffer more in disasters and wars. But I wonder what the effects of a disaster that so many more kids than adults survive would be. Millions of orphans? A traumatized generation in that area ?
We saw military personnel escorting citizens out of the town earlier in the movie, likely any infants or toddlers would've been found when the military searched for the survivors.
What? Likeable characters that do sensible things? An elderly couple that are lovable and not crazy or unlikeable for some reason? The army doing good things and escorting willing survivors to a safe place? Sounds like a good one! Also, doggone it, why didn't the dad snag the hazmat suit in the first place on the way to the lab?
Maybe its the new found treatment like the movie metion. Said its new, so the earthquake couse some damages to produce soo much mist and let the mist out and becouse its new found people didn't expect that the mist kill people that have no..that..illness. Im soo bad at English ik
Cried when Lucien and Collete said they had a good life and layed down in the bed to wait for their death. I love old people, they are loving and caring
As a soldier (well, veteran) I am so happy to see a movie where it shows soldiers as human beings. Like yeah, I want to you to come with me in that situation, but also would easily hand over spare equipment to possibly never be seen again.
I mean, in a real life super catastrophe rationing resources is necessary. Handing out a mask and tank to a person you don't see based on the word of some dude just means you'll have one less mask for a person you do see, or one less oxygen tank when you really need it. Maybe the French army just keeps millions of masks and oxygen tanks on hand though so they have plenty to spare. Who knows.
@@Jooooger with how often the French people have been gassed in previous engagements (WWI WWII etc) I would imagine they have a fairly serious stock pile of masks. Air tanks not so much but masks I could definitely see.
Daughter is deathly allergic to all airborne allergens! Dad: here's a great gift... I'm going to distill down all of these plant proteins to their absolute purest form so she can rub them on herself and inhale them.
To be fair, cooking or distilling the pollens would change the shape of the proteins and she may not react to it. There’s a lot of people who react to raw fruit but not cooked fruit, for example.

Cooking it, freezing it, and so on does nothing for me, as the reactions are always the same.
I get it, the whole point of the movie was to reverse Sarah's situation, to show what life is like for her, not being able to breathe in normal air. The roles were swapped.
It's an interesting allegory to parenting. You spend your prime years protecting them and providing for them, but when they are free and ready, you have become the one who needs help and must be cared for.

Mathieu got balls of steel when he tested the gas. I wouldn’t even touch it. You guys do know there are some poison gas that can melt your skin. And what if it’s one of high-potent gas that even a tiniest drop can kill you.
He saw what it did to other people, their skin was just fine and it only killed them after several breaths. I mean look at the cop, he took a while to die in the mist.
Maybe they are scared if the mist will kill them, but yeah I kinda agreed. Maybe in very end of movie or after movie credits, we see more kids walking around and carrying supplies to their parents. including Sarah of course.
I mean, the military was evacuating survivors earlier so it's possible that many kids might have be evacuated too. The ones who remained probably did the same as the main characters and got to higher ground, or locked themselves in a room and stayed there. It's also possible that there may have been kids roaming around but we're only really witnessing a small area of this city and the mist could be concealing them if they did wander out.
I appreciate you recap a lot of non American films, nothing wrong with American cinema but its refreshing seeing what other countries bring to the table

For some reason this guy sounds like he narrates our lives, the music in the back round the feeling you get while watching and listening sounds like a voice from higher up, or even down below.. just as we live, some may narrate they’re own lives, as our stories will line up and conjoin with each other, one day as the orchestra of life will get so loud all hands on deck will be required for a new turn in Life.

To be fair, batteries are not that cheap, and haven't reach a development for long charge (For a complex machine like this one). If they want it to be 'off the grid' had to be plug to a generator...
Because her capsule was not designed to run solely on battery, the batteries were only there in case of power cut which would last from a few seconds to a few hours max.

I’m so confused. Unless the mist has the ability to reverse Sarah’s disease then she still shouldn’t be able to breathe. Just because it doesn’t affect young people doesn’t mean it won’t kill those who are already unable to breathe regular air.
Was about to comment that.
Did the mist cure her severe allergies?...
Did I miss something?

She has allergies. If the mist kills what she’s allergic to, then she can definitely come out

Hey Matieu, how about telling the soldier you have 5 survivors that need help in your building so he can bring even more masks up? No? You're just gonna get 1 extra mask for the two people that rescued you, your wife, and daughter? Cool, cool...Good luck with that.

@@TheQuatum It's called a "Plot" to make the movie more dramatic and sad
This movie needed to explain what the gas is and where it came from, but I was able to find a bit of lore about it. Apparently, the earthquake was so strong it caused cracks to open deep within the Earth where the gas had been for millions of years. There is enough gas that the whole of Europe has been covered in it except for the United Kingdom because it isn't connected to mainland Europe and is therefore safe. The rest of the world is also unaffected. Other than that, that's all the information I could find.
I guess it's similiar to cod mw3
Yes because as we all know gas needs bridges to cross water..

@@kitsuu6677 I didn’t notice that, you know with all the panic and running. Nobody wants to stick around to find out.
I feel like there would be a lot more children running around sooner in this movie based off the plot
Maybe they are scared if the mist will kill them, but yeah I kinda agreed. Maybe in very end of movie or after movie credits, we see more kids walking around and carrying supplies to their parents. including Sarah of course.
I thought the twist was going to be only kids with the specific immune disease that Sara and her friends have are immune.

Why is there so little back up battery on a machine that LITERALLY KEEPS HER ALIVE
The world wasn't supposed to end? Major design oversight I know.
@Darryl Revok storm damage I don't think, Paris is not likely to have a power cut for more than a few hours due to storms, but flood damage yeah it could be possible, with a centennial or millennial flood from the Seine.
Also from what it looks like the battery can only be changed from the outside, which I feel is also a major design flaw.
