I love all these projects. I'm setting up a new shop as I'm retiring later this year. This video gives me some ideas to get started. I'm buying a new 2x4 cnc which will help immensely for these types of projects. Thanks for all your help, lefties rule...lol
I am so amazed what you can create out of an engraver/laser machine. I have come around to realize this can help me grow. I get several questions if I engrave and the answer is "no", mainly because I always thought it was a handheld tool. Like I said I'm a beginner or maybe not even that because I don't have a machine yet.
At first I assumed the to rings would move automatically. My brain started to reverse engineer how you would do that. Whew - manual rotate. Looks fantastic
I HATE that it took me sooooo long to come across your channel! Such great content and the way you give all the information needed. If I could ask one thing it would be that when you show the final piece, such as the burial tomb with three to four pieces, that you film or show a picture from the side and top to give a better idea of how to place the alignment. Please keep making these awesome videos!
I saw that countersink bit fall out on you. I put up with those Dewalt drills doing that for years because the brake is so strong it loosens the bits. I just learned this year if you tighten the chuck down, then slightly loosen it. It will click. This actually locks the chuck and that doesn't usually happen anymore. Maybe you already know this and it was just a fluke but I was to the point of replacing the tool, and this trick changed everything. Mine is about 10yrs old and has an all metal chuck but I bet yours is the same.
Thanks for the compilation 💜 great vid. Love the projects and that you share the little whoopsies too. Keepin it real 🤘🏼 I was thinking with the utensil holder. If you use thinner faceplates you could have it so they just slide behind the other.
First of all- you're not a dumb @ss. On the utensil caddy: If I were the one making it, I would make some reversible face plates (ex. Fall/Thanksgiving, Christmas/New Year's, Spring/Easter, ect.) On the spice rack: Try using a small Dremel tool (Harbor Freight carries them for about 10$) to sand your small parts. Faster than hand sanding and will save your fingers from getting torn up. The indentation on your glue bot is to hold your cap and keep it clean/keep it from dragging the glue all over your work piece 😉 Question: Do you have printable templates for the spice rack? I don't have a CNC, but if I had a template to follow, I could use a jig saw or bandsaw to cut out the parts.
That was actually the plan for the utensil caddy, I just messed up the back side, so I didn't show the backside. I should have shown the mistake and made that point. And here's the link to the spicerack download. www.sothpawdesigns.com/store/p/cnc-spice-rack-free-download-files
@SothpawDesigns I was caught up in the making of it and missed you saying that. Thanks for the link! I saved the file! Oh darn..... guess I will just have to get a CNC now 😆 It's on my list. Gotta move to my new house in the spring first.
My only experience is with the Genmitsu and the Onefinity. I know that Longmill and Shapeoko have good reputations, and are less expensive than Onefinity, though I don't have experience with them myself.
Do you have a place where you got the bowls? I did not see a link to one. Wife got some from PAMPERED CHEF for $25 for 6.but I think you got some cheaper.
@@SothpawDesignsI was talking about the surfacing. Not the oramask. I never used Oramask, But I hear I would not like it. It will not stick to black or clear paint. hat is what Kate said anyway, from the Kate and Garrett show. I like to clear coat before I engrave. T
@@SothpawDesignsGoing back to look at the video, I think I put this comment on the wrong video. Oh well. I saw someone burning the work while surfacing. LOL
It's definitely oak, beyond a shadow of a doubt. The grain is a dead giveaway. Now, a lot of people are saying white oak, and a lot of people are saying red oak. Unfortunately, the color is pretty ambiguous, at least on camera. It isn't the distinct pink that would give it away as red oak, and it isn't the distinct nutty brown that would give it away as white oak. I'd wager red, as red has a wider fluctuation in color range in my experience, so the lighter color makes me lean that way. Also, white oak tends to have so much ray fleck that it's hard to miss even in boards that aren't quarter sawn, which I'm not seeing here. Then again, it could be another type of oak rather than one of our eastern American domestic varieties, since we don't know the origin.
I agree that it's oak. I'm leaning towards white oak, because the red oak that I've used seems to have a looser grain, but I'm still not an expert at most grains. I can spot cedar and walnut easily, because both are very common in my area, and am getting better at recognizing oak and maple, but most others befuddle me.
Really enjoy your videos, a lot of these guys will edit a completely cut there mistakes out . An actually if you want to show or teach folks how to do something rite I believe that you me or anyone who wants to do this should show all mistakes so that nobody else will make the same mistakes!!! Keep them coming!!
I really enjoyed the spice rack build (what there was of it). Did you know the video got cut off early? But I still liked the entire video. God bless my friend.
Liked the box. and you could have two faces in one board, if the engrave is not to deep. I would prob laser it. And th whine rac was a great idea. Only think I would add is to extend the grips to the edge so it’s easier to reach under, like the butcher blocks do
Wow! Everything that you just wrote are things that I later realized myself. My newest wine boards have a pocket that comes out to the edge, so you can have maximum surface area for charcuterie, and can more easily reach under to pick it up. And regarding the box with the messages on each side, that was actually my original idea, but I messed up one side, so the video only shows the other side. And I'm 100% in agreement on the laser. Quicker, cheaper, and easier to make. Good calls.
Most definitely Red Oak.😊
They wood you didn't know is red oak. I really like the thomb. That is very cool.
Really enjoying the video. Thanks for putting it all together!

Thank you for the ideas! 😀

Good job
your videos have really improved the sound quality is much better really like all the projects the spice caddy was my favorite very nice
Yeah, I invested in a couple of better microphones and have worked on that. Thanks for noticing.
Always need more clamps, don't matter what color they are 😂😂.
Well done. Your content is very relevant for beginners.

looks like Red Oak
Very well done and I might try some of the Ideas you that are simpler>
Good call. I like to show the simple stuff, then add ons for those who have the additional equipment/abilities.
I believe the wood your using is either oak or ash. Their wood grain is almost identical.
Great ideas
Looks great
Thanks!
Good afternoon
Good Day!!
How far apart did you put the holes on the wine rack
I set them just one inch wider than a standard wine bottle.
oak, red ooak
the wood looks like red oak to me, but would have to smell it first to be sure, lol
My gut says it's white oak, but most people are saying it's red, so I'm gonna defer to the online experts.
I like that you are making simple projects. What CNC is "OK" no the very low end? thanks

Definitely oak
Did you use 3/4 or 1"?
For which part?
@@SothpawDesigns the two pieces cut at 22.5⁰.
When you are burning the wood with the CNC, it is just the router is too high RPM.
That's possible, but the fact that I was using a downcut bit was also a factor, with the pocket being so small.

BAHAHAAA!

Understood, but I stay clearly that it simply a compilation of several videos. I mentioned it one time in each video. Thanks for the comment.
great videos.. thank you for the inspiration!
Thank you lot of projects
Print both sides of the sign. Could turn around signs
Red oak for sure

Appreciate that compliment. I agree. If you really wanna add value for people, you gotta show where things mess up and how to fix it.
Did not see SVG files in the comments. Am I not looking in the right place?

I agree. The current controversy is whether it's white or red..... I vote white, but several people are pushing for red.
A Glimpse Inside on UA-cam has a great holder for your sander to do small parts.
The first piece of wood you are working with is white oak if I am not mistaken
A Rabbit is on the edge of a board and a dado is caught by 3 sides.
