Are E3 Press Conferences DEAD?!
Вставка

- The "E3 press conference" as a cultural moment has been fading ever since Nintendo broadcast their first Nintendo Direct in 2011. Sony's decision to abstain from holding a press conference at E3 2019 feels monumental: of the three hardware manufacturers, only Xbox persists in putting on a show for the press. In time, will the spectacle vanish forever? E3 2019 will be my eighteenth E3, and my answer is: I kinda hope so.
Tim Rogers is a national treasure
我的鸡巴是国宝
@@miembrosgibran nice google translating.
INTERnational treasure.
Verbose observations, rambling personal anecdotes, witty writing - this is some top Tim. I love you, man! Looking forward to all your Electronic Three coverage!
"What will 2020 bring?"
Oh Tim, there was no way of knowing just what 2020 would bring.
Tim Rogers has created the Video Game parallel to LCD Soundsystem’s Losing My Edge.
thought of that lol
This is elite tier Tim Rogers.
Even a stream of consciousness from Tim is so profound and funny
Posting to commemorate E3's real actual death. RIP E3 1995-2019(21)(23)
I swear Tim has gotta be the most underrated mega legend on UA-cam -
The only reason I’m subscribed to this channel is Tim Rogers.
And now the morons lost him =)
Time to unsubscribe
This is now one of my favorite covers of that one LCD Soundsysyem song
"I'm 23 years old. With any luck, I'm about a third as old as I'll ever be."
Nice
Bruh, your friggin young, i'm 25 years old, that's half of 50 lol, time isn't on my side
*does the math*
Nice. 😏
Happy birthday to all of us really. Thanks for the video!
Well now I've gotta know Tim's entire ordered list of the top fifty best video games ever made.
More relevantly (and perhaps redundantly) I agree that the shift to video games playing a larger role in their own promotion may be a sign of the maturation of the medium. Games are slowly emerging from behind their overprotective parents' pant legs and learning to speak for themselves, and we're listening.
As an aside, I'd encourage those of you who haven't read Tim's 2002 article "life, non-warp" to give it a go. I'm not sure what Tim thinks of it now, but, for what it's worth, it's one of my favorite video game-related essays (written or otherwise).
Couldn't find "life, non-wrap" unfortunately. Maybe he took it offline. Instead, I found a Kotaku article on the countless things he hates about Japan. It was written in 2010, when he still lived there. Depressing. I wonder whether his views have shifted in retrospect since he moved back to the US. (The -article- rant is called "Japan: It's Not Funny Anymore" but I recommend not reading it.)
LCD Soundsytem's losing my edge would be perfect background music starting around 5:55. ("I was there...") nice video
That's the joke
"Let me see DAT TAT"!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
03:05 "ill-fitting suit wearing boat owners speaking halting sentence fragment salads intoned as waterfalls of grandiose promises."
... whose hype-ignition efficacy their equally awkward underling committees had, no doubt, guaranteed.
Well this aged oddly well
even moreso now
I am so looking forward to your extended Electronic Three coverage. That's like the third most important thing to look forward to, after Nintendo Direct and Devolver Digital.
That cold open is a little standalone bit of video art.
Tim Rogers intellectual prowess and high brow literature is wasted on the medium of videogames.
Astral Luminosity I disagree. It’s even more impactful because Tim waxes poetic of that which he (we) loves so dearly.
i was the first guy
playing skies of arcadia
i played it on the dreamcast
everybody thought i was crazy
we all know now
Happy Birthday Tim Rogers! The only thing missing was finding a way to say, "eldritch horrible."
tim thank you for doing the VO again.
but I'm losing my edge... the kids... are coming up from behind
Zaswarley but have you seen his cartridges?
It should be HARDWARE manufacturers as the main features only. If publisher press events have destroyed E3
You are truly the best, sir. Thank you.
Tim is one of my favorite content creators today, and I can't tell if it's because he's my Internet crush, or my future doppelganger from a parallel dimension. Whose life has been a cautionary tale, to better warn the other? Never before have I related so much with someone's grim severity as they lay out their vivid assessment of a past event which has both haunted and heartened them to the present day.
"ill fitting suit wearing boat owners" i lost it right there. this is very funny
this is Tim Rogers's LCD Soundsystem's Losing My Edge
E3 is dying, and it's been one of the best parts of my year since I was a kid. I made it my life goal to go to one and I finally made it in 2017. It was better than I imagined and I'm glad I got to see it. Long Live E3.
I had always had a goal to attend E3. Living in Canada I decided that I would attend with a friend during one of my adult year. I had only become an adult during the pandemic, and now modern E3 has changed yet again. Before it’s absence, it had been a shell of it’s former self, yet still was verifiably an E3 with it’s accompanying E3 season. Now it seems it’s entirely dead. The E3 season may remain, but the production and access doesn’t feel right. I think it’s just the title and prestige of being a gamer and finally attending your first E3. Seems that is no longer possible. What a shame.
i feel like Tim telling us some kind of narrative which he created with passion soul of his....
E3 isn't dead yet! But, if it keeps going the way it is now. Yep!
this is gold
Happy Birthday Tim!
I like "Directs" but they can't all quit E3 it's a fucking tradition to show off all the games coming to your consoles.
My favorite Tim Rogers video of 2019 to date. Hope you have a lovely birthday.
Yet you forget to mention the best e3 presentation of all time was that of Konami in 2010 with Mr. Tak Fuji
“ill fitting suit wearing boat owners speaking halting sentence fragment salads intoned at us waterfalls of grandiose promises whose hype ignition efficacy their equally awkward underling committees, had no doubt guaranteed.”
I cannot write like that. I cannot speak like that. This is why we listen to Tim Rogers.
this is perfect
Can anyone tell what’s the piano song at the end called? (Not the one at the last second, the piano one before that)
btw, I realy think the song at the end is the Shinra Corp theme.........
Im wondering the same thing
@@Lunarvandross Way off :(
Please go to XBOX, Tim. Forgive past transgressions and embrace Xbox anew as if greeting a long lost friend/lover. I - we must know the secrets of the XBOX, Tim. Who else to disseminate this information but, you, the Tyrant King of Buddies?
Thank you Tim
Tim Rogers has been teasing to write about Landstalker for the past 15 years. At least.
you're getting big lmao
Ken Kutaragi is a treasure.
Will you guys be doing any live E3 coverage and will Tim be involved in any way, would love to see/hear his live reactions to the reveals and news
I am ready to attend the church of video gameing
I'm not sure about the amount of self-indulgence, but I very much appreciate your perspective on those E3 marketing theatres :) Cool style. Cheers!
tim is like a video game john malkovich
This was weird to watch. Every ten seconds I had the urge to click off the vid and never remember it again, yet for some reason I was so intrigued by the tone of the video. I could never quite grasp what he was going to say next, which is probably why I was so interested.
The video game industry as a whole doesn't deserve Tim Rogers.
Tim at Kotaku and Ryan at IGN are the best.
RIP E3 😭
Give this man a Pulitzer.
Are you saying most E3 related content here will be hosted by Tim Rogers?
We need that Tomb Raider "not everything is about YOU" reminder clip for Tim again.
Is it dead-answer:it’s up to the opinion of the person like in my opinion not really if done right
I only subscribe to Kotaku to watch Tim Rogers
You people are killing UA-cam with all the ads, Kotaku are the worst.
I hop not. It is incredibly fun
what's the music at 6:47?
Are E3 Press Conferences LiveServices?
Good. Let them show the games.
Laureate poet of useless though essential videogame banter
This video is what true art looks like
Scary ending. They all DIED.
Is kotaku dying?
Electronic 3 is dead. Long live Electronic 3!
😢😢😢😢
tim rogers
hi tim
Is this a robot text to speech audio? :/ :(
Holy crap this narration is ominous as fuck, I'm outta here :P
Is this a parody?
So, how much money is Sony paying you?
Probably none, seeing as he doesn't work there anymore.
E3 is not dead as long as people keep showing up year after year. They need to stop making cheesy gimmicks.
no they are not or they should not be sony was foolish to not have one 2019
No. Your entire audience is.
Ya for sure
Never been so alive, this does not even look like a video of you....very childish
