When I searched for reviews of this game, I don't exactly know what I was signing up for when I clicked this video... This was amazing... Whatever the fuck this was...
This was my first Tim Rogers video. When I saw it was 20 minutes long, I thought "Who does this guy think he is, demanding this much of my time?" and I wanted to hate him for it, but the video was too good and I started seeking out more of his videos. Now after watching the hour long Death Stranding review, I'm disappointed that the review isn't longer.
This was the first Kotaku/Tim Rogers video I ever saw. It was months before I returned to Kotaku for a video game review. I now know that these "reviews" are nothing of the sort. They're public humorous video love letters from a true game liker. The second time I experienced one of these love letters I was hooked, and I cannot stop rewatching all of them. TLDR: All of Tim Rogers videos need to ask that all viewers watch *at least* one more video by Tim Rogers.
I like that your reviews get at the core of what's important in gaming, not a checklist of answers to the most common questions. I only played the demo of a single Musou and didn't really take to it. But, you might have sold me on Hyrule Warriors.
This is a perfect review, especially when youtube recommends the ign review clocking in at a lengthy 2 minutes 45 seconds. I was not ready for this deep dive into this man's video game career or the overview of the entire genre. Pleasantly surprise
Hey man, I've never heard your videos before today, but I really like them. The story telling of the cafe in Japan, your old coworker, and the breakdown of the game play. I love the way you blended these elements.
I can relate with the hypnotic sound effects comment. After a while all those sounds just meld into a weird choir that sucks you in. Strange. Also, Tim, please never change.
Dragon quest heroes made me warm up to Mosou games though I have not played Dragon Quest games before. The tactics were addictive and gameplay fast n fun !
I think it's time for Kotaku to start another podcast solely focused on Tim Roger's weird gaming-related(or not) anecdotes. Or a regular segment on splitscreen maybe?
I am mad because i watch this whole video on Kotaku's website with their god awful video player. I could have watched it on here. Otherwise, great video and introspective on Musou games.
I HAD to buy this game again despite all the time I put into it on the Wii U version. Though I dread doing any map with Agitha and Lana with summoning gate. LOL
I already played the WiiU version and I have this one on the way already, so there was zero reason to watch this review but I’m glad I did because...NICE
You obsessing over killing 100 creatures in the beginning of the review made this perfect to me(if I wasn't a Zelda fan who bought all versions of Hyrule warriors as they came, this would of won me over lol)
having started to read William Gibson’s pattern recognition on implicit recommendation in the cyberpunk 2077 action button review, I am everyday amazed abt how much that book is just literally fully In some of my favorite Tim rogers videos
The first game that I played that I was aware of the frame rate being 60 frames per second was Street Fighter 4 3D on the 3DS in 2011 when I was 13 years old
it'd have to be a machine that is out of commission. manufacturers are very secretive and parlors will ban you for trying to photograph machines. the only time you're allowed to look at the pegs and levers is while playing. they take it very seriously. it's a fascinating topic.
There are at least a couple UA-cam channels out there that post long videos of pachinko sessions; maybe the parlors have gotten more lenient? ua-cam.com/channels/m7xLg3cRLOq9B1VoAYqSVQ.htmlvideos ua-cam.com/channels/tARQW-1bQXPqh90QED-PJw.htmlvideos I visited Japan in 2016 and at one parlor in Tokyo was told I could take pictures of the machines as long as I didn't photograph other patrons. Maybe it varies from place to place.
It's Madison Square Park by the Sony Square (I think it's music not IE) and Shake-shizzle~~! Also, good breakdown on bridging musou games to the overlords that dictate (unmarried, male) gamer taste !
At first I was like, DOWNVOTE, ‘cause I was consumed by envy but then by about 2 minutes in I was pretty okay with you being an objectively more interesting person than I. Would watch and hate myself again.
I've heard about the memory leak that happens when the game is left on for long periods of time and I have a question about it. I'm getting the Switch version for my birthday on Sunday for my Switch Lite, which I got for Christmas. I was wondering just how long you have to play for this memory leak issue to happen. I normally keep a game running until I swap cartridges or before I go to bed at night. Before bed I save, turn whatever game I am currently playing off, and then put the system into sleep mode. So if the memory leak doesn't happen if the game is left on for one single day then I'm good since I always turn games off before going to sleep at night. So just how long do you have to have the game on for this to start happening?
Char Aznable actually 23. But really I had only heard of Dynasty Warriors in passing. This was the first time I've even heard them called "Musou" games. They're really not as popular or well known games as you might think.
Char Aznable You should consider proof reading your comments to avoid making wild assumptions like that. I had only heard of "Dynasty Warriors in passing." As in, no other details. Basically just the name and enough context to know they were video games. Why would anyone know that apples trees are grafted rather than planted just from seeing or talking about apples in passing? Further more, what's this claim that I know what Musou games are without hearing the word before? If today was the first time I've ever heard the word Musou, than yes, today I know what it is. Any day prior? No idea. If someone just used the term I would have no idea. No plausible way to guess even. Which relates back to your wierd assumption that I have some detailed understanding of Dynasty Warriors, thus understand what Musou is because I "[have] heard of [it] in passing?"

you've commented, so like and subscribe or i *will* be fired
loved the aside about Koei guy. this is what I expect from a time rogers joint
*tim, but also he should call himself Time Rogers
"Hyrule warriors is a clown, force feeding you cotton candy in a loud basement" had me cackling like said clown would be
I wanted to check if this was a tim rogers video so thanks
This was my first Tim Rogers video. I don't usually watch 20-minute video reviews. When I saw that one, I thought: "Please be by Tim Rogers." I am a happy man.
355.731/10 would watch again.
rip metacritic
"I'm mathematically qualified for a mid-life crisis"
Ok Tim, ya got my ugly laugh with that one
Tim Rogers videos should be at the top of trending every gosh darn day
69 likes......nice....
dude that's actually a great review. never watched and enjoyed a review that long. :)

I hope the inclusion of an "outdoor" segment in Kotaku Videos by tim rogers™ becomes a staple, they're delightful.
I like that your reviews get at the core of what's important in gaming, not a checklist of answers to the most common questions. I only played the demo of a single Musou and didn't really take to it. But, you might have sold me on Hyrule Warriors.
Man, this is by far one of the best reviews I've ever seen
I was one of those guys dismissive of musou games. I might have to change that after this review.
_How_ in the _hell_ is this a review lmao
It's brilliant
This is a perfect review, especially when youtube recommends the ign review clocking in at a lengthy 2 minutes 45 seconds. I was not ready for this deep dive into this man's video game career or the overview of the entire genre. Pleasantly surprise
D... Don't ever stop doing these.
Hey man, I've never heard your videos before today, but I really like them. The story telling of the cafe in Japan, your old coworker, and the breakdown of the game play. I love the way you blended these elements.
What’s with Kotaku haters disliking everything to oblivion? This video review is awesome!
the same group of people have been following tim rogers' content for years explicitly to be mad at it
yeah this is 100% true
Kotaku maybe if your company didn’t include politics in almost everything you would probably receive less hate.
What do I do if I hate Kotaku but love Tim Rogers SOMEONE HELP ME
@@overlordjinkins5409 Kotaku has many MANY problems. "Too much politics" is absolutely not one of them.
I love the music in his videos. It's always the same and I always love it
I didn’t know that a review could entertain me as much as this one did.
I can relate with the hypnotic sound effects comment. After a while all those sounds just meld into a weird choir that sucks you in. Strange.
Also, Tim, please never change.
Love your reviews, keep up the great work!
This is the best Kotaku review that has ever existed. Thank you, PVGETR.
Your reviews are the greatest. Thanks for convincing me to buy this game again.
The fire emblem one was good too.
My review of this review:
10/10 would review with this reviewer again
God I love how you use that DQ11 music in every damn video...hilarious
Your style of reviews has grown on me
Thank you for this. There are way too many boring reviews out there. Love ya Rogers!
Watching this video was a beautiful and everlasting experience.
i had hesitations but well..yes yes i love all of these plus it zelda stuff you made a great point of reminding me
I can't believe this is where he explains the catchphrases origin!
this dude is so good :D
thanks buddy
I still don't really care about musou games but this review was extremely entertaining, congrats
This was possibly the strangest review ive seen.
Great Video!
You really nailed it. I was trying to figure out why these games are so compelling to me: video game stress is...fun.
So wonderfully surprised when when Tim "hello”ed.
Tim Rogers needs to do all reviews
I like you too, Tim Rogers.
This is the first Tim Rogers review I've seen. It's also one of the most entertaining reviews I've ever seen. Wow.
Excuse me we established that ZELDA IS THE BOY a long time ago
I've fallen in love with Tim Rogers. It's platonic, promise.
You sound like the guy who explains the techniques for holding the Wiimote in WarioWare Smooth Moves
I am mad because i watch this whole video on Kotaku's website with their god awful video player. I could have watched it on here.
Otherwise, great video and introspective on Musou games.
Thank you for making me appreciate musuo games
excellent review
1:34 wHy YoU cAll HiM zEldA!?!?!?
Time Mage Zelda is the boy. Look it up. Zelda is the boy.
Shabaab Kamal Are you assuming Zelda's/Link's gender(s)?
Let my slam my phone’s keyboard in anger!
7:40 He even called "him" a "her". 8[] I guess... trolly lolz?
I HAD to buy this game again despite all the time I put into it on the Wii U version. Though I dread doing any map with Agitha and Lana with summoning gate. LOL
1:37 that is indeed Zelda the main character of the Legend of Zelda series... We all know that
Hardest I’ve laughed in a long time. Thank you for this it was gold!
I already played the WiiU version and I have this one on the way already, so there was zero reason to watch this review but I’m glad I did because...NICE
I now require a list of all video reviews this guy has ever done.
Shit.. ok I'm sold, take my money!
You obsessing over killing 100 creatures in the beginning of the review made this perfect to me(if I wasn't a Zelda fan who bought all versions of Hyrule warriors as they came, this would of won me over lol)
OMG this whole review. He just goes off on one tangent to the next with almost nothing factoring into Zelda itself. I love it!
nah but it spools back around and ties up the idea of musou games as a whole, zelda is just like, a launch pad
Yes, but I love how about 17 minutes of the whole video has nothing to do with the game proper. It's just funny.
I love you, Tim Rogers.
I like the idea of Tim
having started to read William Gibson’s pattern recognition on implicit recommendation in the cyberpunk 2077 action button review, I am everyday amazed abt how much that book is just literally fully In some of my favorite Tim rogers videos
just realized there was a gosh darn reference to unsavory business practices in the pâté industry in this her video
The first game that I played that I was aware of the frame rate being 60 frames per second was Street Fighter 4 3D on the 3DS in 2011 when I was 13 years old
I also remember around that same time there being a weird debate about whether first the hobbit movie being better or worse at 60 fps
This dude made me cackle in the middle of the night, instant sub
I would like the Tim Rogers review of pachinko. Any pachinko machine. (Partially so I can tell what the hell is going on in those games)
it'd have to be a machine that is out of commission. manufacturers are very secretive and parlors will ban you for trying to photograph machines. the only time you're allowed to look at the pegs and levers is while playing. they take it very seriously. it's a fascinating topic.

I love Tim Rogers Loving Games.
This review is gold.
Wow, this review was deep man.
Jordan Voight Roberts, hello, and yes there's a F-Zero GX ref in this!
I love tim rogers so damn much
I love how I get a hyrule warriors ad when I clicked on this video. Lol
*Plays game for 3 hours* *Spends 16 hours making 21 minute review video*
I like Your Video, And I will Not Die Hungry.
I want nothing more than to play an internet personality themed Musou game headlined by Tim Rogers.
Why is this video an ASMR, I was expecting a review.
At first I was like, DOWNVOTE, ‘cause I was consumed by envy but then by about 2 minutes in I was pretty okay with you being an objectively more interesting person than I. Would watch and hate myself again.
Hey you have the same birthday as me! Birthday buds.

Oh there’s a memory leak, alright…
I feel like the reveiw is missing... and I love it
I see that HELLO
I smash the like button and cry
I love you Tim, and it's not a mid life crisis.
That Double Gulp tho
Does anyone know the name of the piano song that plays at the 16:10 mark? I can't seem to find it anywhere
I would like to see some of these characters in smash like Linkle Lana and Volga
Hell yeah, I want Linkle in smash!
Hyrule warriors (2014) is the first time I had ever experienced a "musou" game. Might be the first time I'd seen gameplay of one too
Char Aznable actually 23. But really I had only heard of Dynasty Warriors in passing. This was the first time I've even heard them called "Musou" games. They're really not as popular or well known games as you might think.

Tim Rogers is the best.
What a weird and amazing review.
I thought you were going to get caught in a heckin' downpour out there.
I got mad when he described "A link to the past" as average.... But great review xd
lol he was saying that its like the most standard, representative zelda game
I had to explain to my mom this wasn’t hentai because of the cutscenes
So did you feel the same way about this game back in 2014 or nah?
If nintendo wont make a new fzero, i wish they would bring f-zero gx to the switch.
Surprised he never reviewed age of calamity
Kotaku is pretty shite most of the time but this guy is something else.
