- A Quick video showing you the technique to varnishing a painted rod blank. Painted rod Blanks are a little bit more tricky to get a good smooth finish without affecting the paint finish. here is how I do it
Interesting video good work stay safe tight lines till the next one
Many thanks liz👍
Nicely timed video as I broke a rod this week.
Oh no! How did that happen?
Interesting video Greg, I've use yacht varnish on some of my metal work 👍🏻
Do you find it shows up every imperfection?
@@gsp Not really mate , it keeps rust at bay for a while though, I do use chemicals to speed up rusting if customer wants it rusting , yacht varnish covers this really well and leaves a nice texture too.
I might try to put it on a little thicker next time and experiment a little
Wonderful work! I found on UA-cam a guy mixing the paint (colour) on varnish. I didn’t try that but it seems a good idea
That could work too! I'll have to look into that👍
When vehicle spraying, we very often mix some of the base coat in with the lacquer top coat to leave a nice opaque final gloss.
nice beams :)))))
Just subscribed , awesome channel.
How is the hempel varnish holding up mate?
I have 2 used ( and lighty scuffed) zipplex rods....do you think a light sand and a coat of hempel's wil make them shine again?
I am a bit scared to begin the restauration because i don't want to damage the rods 😅
Have build some smaller spinning rods but never painted or coated a complete blank.
Grtz nick.
Cheers Nick👍 I really like the hempel varnish and it has held up as well as bondaseal or anything else I've ever used👍 the drying time is just a bit longer. Just make sure the blank is completely clean and it should be fine👍
and get some hair dye your looking old bud :))))
Lmao! Just for men! 🤦♂️😂
