The heart can repair itself over time…happened with my friend’s mom. As you get stronger your heart may well too. Good that you have doctors who can monitor you…one day at a time. Stay strong. ❤️

romee, i’m on a beta blocker ever since chemo, because it also played a number on my heart and gave me a slight arrhythmia (PVCs). i also had tachycardia and the only thing apart from the beta blocker that’s significantly helped with that has been daily exercise. i was able to get my resting heart rate from 90 to 55-60 after about 10 months. i had chemo and rads like you :))

Beta blockers cause your heart rate to slow down. Having a lower resting heart rate on a beta blocker is not necessarily a reflection of improved cardiovascular fitness. It couldddd be but...

@@1Jennamo the beta blocker itself only got me to 85. with continued exercise it has kept going down, i wouldn’t say things on here that my doctor hasn’t told me first :) it was actually such a good response that my cardio has agreed to take me off the beta blocker slowly in 6 months to see if it stays like this. it’s been 2 years since i finished chemo and my EF and echos look good after all!

I had Adria/cytoxan 10 years ago for breast cancer. Also radiation. 5 years later I needed an implanted defibrillator due to a near fatal heart arrhythmia. Then needed a valve replacement. Now have heart failure with ejection fraction of 24%. Also have atrial fibrillation. Very discouraging and can’t do much of what I love to do. Glad that cancer patients now have access to a cardioncologist

I always tell my husband that chemo is the gift that just f**king keeps on giving! I had an echocardiogram every three (3) months while I was doing chemo/Herceptin for breast cancer. Luckily, I came through that okay. My neuropathy is terrible, and I'm 6 years out now. I'm on 3200 mg/day of Gabapentin, and if I don't take it, I feel like I'm being stuck with needles from my neck to my knees!

I’m bummed to hear about your heart condition but glad they can address it. My two rounds of chemo left me with hypersensitive skin issues, (especially on my legs) that my doctors do not know how to address. Almost all pants, blankets offer a painful, scratchy sensation even with the softest of fabrics. It’s a mystery that I may have to live with for the rest of my life. And dried everything is also a MAJOR side effect. Cancer free for two years and dealing with this is just horrible.

I’m a retired (Medically at 44 due to illnesses) ITU nurse in Scotland so I fully understand how your feeling on both sides. Some chemo regimes are so cardiotoxic and in Scotland dependant on what ones you are on they do an ejection fraction tests of the heart to see if your heart is healthy enough to have the chemo. It’s sad you have now had this complication from the chemo. Have they given you a diagnosis for what you are dealing with ? And your still very young, and have a long life ahead of you and I’m sure it will involve the hospital less and less xxx

This month is my 20-year anniversary of being cancer-free. I also got cardiomyopathy which is a form of congestive heart failure from all of the heavy chemo I had 20 years ago I have been on a pill twice a day ever since. And, my heart is doing very well. I hope all goes well with you.

I developed dilated cardiomyopathy for unknown reasons (!) over a decade ago. I take a pill twice a day too. Dilated cardiomyopathy meams enlarged heart from heart muscle dysfunction. If not treated or discovered in time, someone with dilated cardiomyopathy (usually left ventricle) will go into congestive heart failure as the heart struggles to pump and fluid (congestive) builds up. That is what happened to me.
The heart is so amazing and can often "remodel" after being damaged. I'm glad you're doing well! I am too. I now only go in for an appointment with my cardio and get an echocardiogram once a year, which is great for me because those doctor visits give me super anxiety! I

Thank you for sharing that. People need to know that _any_ virus has the potential to attack the heart, kidneys, nerves, etc. It is very dangerous to roll the dice with viruses. What causes a common cold in most people can do major damage in some others. There are cardiac viruses too, and they are always floating around in society, being passed around, and while most people can fight them off, some can't.

My daughter had to go on beta blockers as well but doesn't even need specialist checkups. So I know a little of what you're talking about. It makes you feel old. But in the long run, if it means being here with my family a little longer, a couple of pills is definitely worth it!

Please have them check your thyroid. Sometimes sickness or chemo can trigger your thyroid to act up. I’m on beta blockers because of my thyroid. So, your heart may not be the origin of your issues.

You know, I had to have half of my thyroid removed a couple of years ago. There was a growth on it that could have been cancer, but it was benign. I did not even think to ask if that could have been a problem caused by me chemo 20 years ago.

Ah a holter test! I get those done and an eco Doppler every two years. Thankfully I haven’t had to be put on medication, just have them control my arrhythmia and my calves not getting worse since I have a very mild prolapse in one.

EF of 50%. is pretty good. My cousin is 23 and had Ewing sarcoma when he was 4 and had radiation and chemotherapy and surgeries through high school and into college. He had to take a lot of heart medication because the chemo also affected it. They were able to shrink it enough to get most of the tumor out that was in Pelvis and shrunk it into the femur for the most part. His heart has recovered some now so think good thoughts. Sending you love from the US

There’s so much you can do for your heart….like the foods you eat, exercise, meditation, yoga ,improving posture. The heart in some cases can recover. Anyway, you look great! Some of the inflammation is definitely going away….and your hair is coming back! I feel very positive about your future. Oh and do a detox diet ….it helps to remove some toxins from chemo. Nurture your body….

Romee, I think this may be the first time I am commenting on your channel.
I have followed you throughout your cancer journey and your resilience, perseverance and tenacity has been so inspiring.
You have this unique quality that pours out positive energy.
It is a hard pill to swallow knowing that the chemotherapy intended to cure you failed you in so many ways.
However, being the Romee I have come to know you will take it in your stride.
I am so thrilled that you are cancer free.
    Jou lig skyn helder Romee!
(P.S. My second language is very similar to your first language. )

I have a heart condition (bicuspid aortic valve + aortic root dilation) so I can understand your struggle. Don't have the issue with pumping power but I feel the anxiety about your heart not functioning properly, it's like so many things can go wrong 😥
I'm also about to get another echocardiogram (the heart ultrasound you mentioned !)

Welcome to socialized medicine. It takes forever to get appointments and simple test results and follow up appointments made. So happy now that my relatives have moved to the US. They highly praise the US healthcare system. While it does have faults it is still the best care in the world. Good luck with your treatments...

The 24 hours that you need to wear goes by very quickly. It is really not a big issue. They can then find out what kind of arythmia you have. If you for example need to get a pacemaker to be implanted then it will sort the arythmia out. You will not even know that you have a pacemaker in place. Be thankfull that your cancer is gone. You will feel beter once the medication kicks in. My heartbeat was 150 one minute and then the next minute 35. This caused blackouts. This lead to me having a tripple vein heart bypass and also a pacemaker n few months later. Now you can go on with your live which I hope will be a healthy and happy one. Good luck. You are a strong young lady. Just look forward.

I had to go on heart meds too. It sucks. My heart would go up to 120bpm+ when I walked around (bearing in mind I walk slowly due to multiple chronic illnesse), but then would take up to 1.5hrs to go back down to 90bpm! That's not good. I'm now on 5mg Ivabradine (UK name) twice per day. My heart now has 70bpm at rest. Being a health scientist myself, I'm able to monitor it at home & can be sent back to the heart centre at any time if things get worse again. The only difference I had from the medication was the halo effect in my vision, especially at night when using my laptop. Unfortunately, that triggered my migraines more, but that has improved with time & medication adjustments.

I have leukemia. I haven’t known for a year yet. I have to have an ekg and X-ray as well as bloodwork every month. I see my oncologist tri monthly now. In the beginning I was doing all this stuff weekly🙄. I’m on oral chemo. I take it everyday. I understand how you feel, doctors are always going to be part of my life. Like you, I HATE the idea and reality of this! Ugh!! I’m glad for the technology but… Everytime I have the ekg, X-ray, bloodwork I hold my breath. Love your videos! You’re honesty! And I’m so sorry!🧡
