Three years ago I got lung cancer , did the chemo had the surgery to remove my lung . Then went into remission , this last year lost my husband , and went to do my routine test , MRI . Seven months after his passing they tell me my cancer is back . It had metastasized to my brain with five tumours and now going through this all by myself , back on chemo . So I understand stand how you feel , but my prayers are with you 🙏🏻 .

So just to provide some hope, my oncologist stopped using PET scans post staging because they’ve been getting several false positives. Two patients had their spleens removed and the pathology came back with no cancer. So it could be the same case for you. Keep in mind pet scans detect ANY irregular cellular activity.

Exactly, they should have just gone with a regular CT scan. PET scans are only used when they know its cancer for sure and they wanna get a better pic for the stuff the CT scan doesn't show. So something would have to be on the CT first.
@@evanbrad7327 they already know she had cancer for sure. Cancer never actually goes away once you have it. Using a CT scan is just a false sense of hope. Just because it doesn’t show up on CT doesn’t mean it’s not there.
@@mysterycomment1553 There is a difference between "had" and "has". In all developed countries doctors use CT VS PET scans on former cancer patients for follow-up. I can tell u dunno a lot about this subject, do some research.
Wow. That explains why my oncologist doesn't do pet scans. My last one was mid chemo over 4 yrs ago. He won't scan unless other symptoms pop up.

Quick tip: I always take a picture of each medical document whenever I have a new one and save it as pdf and put it in my files in iCloud so I have access to them using either my iPhone or Mac etc. This saved me so many times because at least I had something to show rather than nothing. Romee I wish you all the best, we are here for you ❤

Oh Romee, my daughter is right there with you. She was diagnosed in 2013 with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia right after high school. She had plans for the military and then it was taken away. Currently, she is on relapse #3 and will be doing Car-T therapy next week. We are hoping this will be what she needs to put cancer down. She has never been able to lead an adult life like her friends and it is so defeating sometimes. So, we send you hugs and know how frustrating it is,

That is upsetting news. You absolutely have a right to feel bad, mad, sad whatever. I am so sorry you are going through this again. I never thought after 6 years of good mamograms including last June I would have a second primary tumor. Not a recurrence but a whole new cancer. I am an older woman so it is very different situation for me. I wish I could make it better for you.
You have millions of people who are praying for and love you. I can't imagine what you may be feeling but try and remember how many people close and far support you.

Well I am mentally in pain with having no family around to talk to. I have my son and my dog. I feel like people either have physical,mental or financial pain. You never know what people are going thru. I feel like miserable all the time lately with no one to talk to. I am sorry you are going thru this Romee

I just had a CT scan that showed my cancer has spread, too. I don't know the next game plan yet. Like you said, "It is what it is". I pray that cancer has to leave us alone!
My PET scan showed some activity in lymph nodes. The doctor still thinks, it was activity from a vaccination, I had three months prior.
It is scary, hearing news of not all clear.
I am sure, they do everything to find out what it really is, before ringing the alarm bells.
Fingers crossed. You got this, and whatever comes, you will deal with it with grace.
I am an April born, too :) Birthdays in those (last 3 years) times are strange. But keeping busy is best strategy for not being eaten up by fear.

Romee, I am so sorry you are having to go through this with the emotions and thoughts and now biopsy. Your painting looks great! Dare I say you are showing some talent. It is cool you were able to fix the palm tree placement. When I am going through a lot, I make crafts and find that it helps keep me calm. Now is when I need to do this again. Abdominal cat scan was Saturday and now being referred to a Gastrointestinal doctor. I hate not knowing what the problem is because our thoughts can run away from us. I am keeping you in my prayers. I truly hope you will be Ok. Much love sweet girl.

I had a pet scan 5 years after my whole cancer journey they saw activity in a node that was already there. But I had cryo ablation last year, so far Im doing ok. You will be ok Im sure of it ❤️

Praying for you Romee and Happy Birthday. So glad you had some spa time and that you have the love of so many friends who genuinely care. Your instincts are keen in ordering the scan for yourself so just keep advocating and doing research for yourself, including the best university hospitals and options in your area so you can get top notch treatment if needed. The scans were even better quality and the highest tech available when we switched Dad to a University of California cancer center. So sorry you have to have more surgery so soon. Your strength is amazing but I also admire your guts to show your fears, vulnerability, and stress this journey causes. Cant wait for the apartment tour. Thank you for sharing your life with us! I am so sorry that you got bad news please stay strong and don’t give up the fight. I will be praying for you I hope things will turn out ok for you. Cancer sucks I lost my daughter in law to cervical cancer 10 years ago so I understand how devastating a cancer diagnosis is. My family has been devastated by this disease having lost quite a few members of our family ( my husband included) to cancer. I have always prayed for your your improved health and will continue to do so, stay strong God bless you.

From a current cancer fighter, and nurse, sometimes PET scans can give false readings. It’s due to varying factors. So, maybe, fingers crossed, that’s the case. I’d definitely be interested in seeing the scan. I’m a medical science nerd, and it fascinates me to see PET results-especially when the reading are “lighting up”, but aren’t active cancers. I’ll be thinking of you! ❤️
