    Many years ago, probably around 1982 or so I grew a beard. I shaved it and pretty much always have since then. However, now that I seek to follow God's word, I'm letting it grow out again. I also observe the Sabbath on its correct day of Saturday. The more I study, the more I find I had not been following scripture for a large part of my life.

      Your Saturday was created by Constitine in the 4th century.
      The true Sabbaths and New Moon Days do not fall properly on the post Constitine calendars. Only about 3% of Jews today follow the same Sabbaths and New Moons that Jesus recognized.

      God created the Sun, Moon and stars to know when the real Sabbath is. His calendar is out of reach of mans corruptions. The Bible and a clear view of the night sky is all you need to know when the real Sabbath is.
      Saturday is not in the bible. Niether is sunday.

    I've been growing out my beard for almost a year, but not because I feel it's required. I'm just trying to live a more natural life, as in closer to the way God designed nature to function. Eating real food, making bread from scratch (freshly milled), wearing natural fiber clothing, etc. Having a beard is simply about not messing with my face, just leave it alone and let nature do it's thing. This is how God designed my body.

    Grew up in the 60's and 70's im 69 and it was during a time when beards were seen as rebellion first in the 50's with the beatniks, then Vietnam period and I've never liked them because of those. To me it is now a sign of worldliness and I know many a minister doesn't like them , but the Protestant brands have wholeheartedly accepted them.
    I am a Apostolic Oneness and though there is nothing official against them most of the ministers hold that same view of those tunes, younger Pastors have been having more leeway...but not much.

    If you are a Christian you are NOT under the law. The law has three parts, the Moral Law (sin) which is still a sin today the New Testament describes sin as sin, the Ceremonial Law which is for Jews under the Law and the Dietary Laws, again for Jews under the Law. James 2: 10-11 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all. 11 For He who said, “DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY,” also said, “DO NOT COMMIT MURDER.” Now if you do not commit adultery, but do commit murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. 12 So speak and so act as those who are to be judged by the law of liberty. 13 For judgment will be merciless to one who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment. So basically if you break anything under the Law you are guilty of it all. Here is a question for you. Do you sacrifice? if not why not? You are guilty of breaking the Law. I would rather be under the Grace of Jesus Christ and not the Law because under the Law everyone is guilty.

    • @RealDefinitionsMatter
      @RealDefinitionsMatter 6 місяців тому +1

      'Break one, you break them all' shows you are a sinner in need of a Savior. That is it. This isn't a license to do nothing.
      Dividing the commands into categories such as moral, ceremonial, etc is man-made's delineation to dismiss the Scriptures.
      Sin is sin? That's a vague description. Scripture does define it though. "Sin is transgression of the Law" God's law! 1 John 3:4
      What is the New Covenant?
      It is "writing the Law (Torah) on the hearts (& minds) of the house of Israel and the house of Judah". Jer 31:31-33/Heb 10 Gentiles that come to faith in the God of Israel through the "blood for forgiveness of sins" Of Yeshua are "GRAFTED IN" Rom 11 to the covenants and promises of the Commonwealth of Israel. There is no house of gentile or covenant for gentile's separate from Israel. So, now one must ask, as many Christians reject 2/3rds of the Bible as not for them and say they are part of the New Covenant, what is written on their heart if they outwardly reject Yah's Law/instruction?
      There is one kingdom, one law, one faith, one marriage supper and one return!
      I pray we all have eyes to see and ears to hear.

    Okay, no more shaving. Not that anything will change much. I'm close to 40, but have never been able to grow sideburns. I naturally have a clearly-defined Van Dyke.
    I am curious, however, what scripture says about long hair on a man. I've always preferred it, so when I started down the path of Torah, I did some digging, but couldn't find any direct commands to keep it a certain length, whether short or long. Obviously, those who take the Nazirite vow wore it long, but that was a specific(and optional) covenant. I'm also aware what Paul said in 1 Corinthians 11:14 about nature telling us that long hair on a man is shameful, but I always took "nature" to indicate the cultural context of the region. Roman gentile men pretty much all had short hair, so they would've agreed with his assessment. If he'd been preaching in some areas of Africa, he could've said that a shaved head is shameful on a man, as African men typically wore long dreadlocks, and women would shave their heads.
    Any thoughts?

    • @emjmnc
      @emjmnc  3 роки тому +2

      Hebrew men generally had longer hair than the nations due to the command in the same verse (Lev. 19:27) about not rounding the borders of the head. Ezekiel says that Yahweh pulled him by a tzitzit of his hair (Ezekiel 8:3), so he had locks of hair (it wasn’t a crew cut, lol).
      The Nazir vow was a vow of consecration, so it can’t be a sin for a man to have long hair. I think Paul in 1 Corinthians is speaking against men wearing long hair like a female; probably styles and over-doing it in length. The women wore their hair longer than the men.

      No, he doesn’t eat pork, shrimp, or any other unclean animal. Matthew does not wear mixed materials in his clothing either. He talks about wearing fully linen or fully cotton tunics in other videos. He keeps all of the law that applies to him. According to the same law, he isn’t allowed to “stone sinners” because the law required that sentence handed down from a Torah government/theocracy in which the accused would be tried by the elders. We are living in dispersion and exiled right now to the “four corners” of the earth. We don’t have a temple and a Torah based judicial system. • @Pedant_Patrol
      @Pedant_Patrol Рік тому +1

      @Ministers of the New Covenant - Thanks for answering. I thought maybe your conclusion was drawn from another Bible passage or perhaps one of the Targumim or another historical source. I guess it all depends on how one interprets the directive not to round the corners of one's head. I agree with your view that the Hebrew lemma "pe'a" (H6285) probably refers to an edge or border, as opposed to a corner as we would use the word today. This is best understood from the use of the same word in Lev 19.9 and 23.22 in reference to the edge of a field (I think you touch on this in one of your videos as well). All of this would suggest that shaping or creating a cut edge around the borders of the hair or beard goes against Yahweh's will for us; so no shape-ups or goatees for me. However, I don't see anything in Lev 19.27 that speaks specifically to a desired length of hair. Where I see discussions of hair length are Lev 21.5 and Ez 44.20, both of which are directed towards the Priesthood of Yisrael. The former says not to make any baldness on the head, and the latter says not to shave the head or allow the locks to grow long, but to poll the head/hair instead. To the extent that we can use these passages to infer or deduce a general rule for Torah-observant men (non Priests), what it means to bald or shave the head, and how long locks have to grow before they are too long according to Ez 44.20, are both subjective. Apostle Paul's statement about hair length for men in 1 Cor 11 is also somewhat instructive, but doesn't provide specifics. Since polling the hair is clearly acceptable (acc. Ez 44.20), then finding out exactly what it means to poll the hair seems the best solution; but the issue here is that this Hebrew word is only found in that passage! (Oh, brother!) My lexicon says to poll means "to cut, clip, trim, shear"; but how short or long remains a mystery to me. And the LXX provides no help here as the language is quite different. Ultimately, the way I see it, determining the middle ground between shaving/balding the head and letting the locks grow long is something each man will have to do as he is led by the Spirit. What could be more fun and engaging than studying Yah's Torah?! Thank you for your diligent teaching!

      Every man who shaves would have a beard if they didn’t shave. It was the heathen nations who were sometimes clean shaven. Joseph was even made to shave after being released from prison and before coming into the Pharaoh’s presence.
      Also, the command is against destroying the beard, not having a huge beard. Some men grow one better than others, but that doesn’t mean a man who can’t grow a big beard is sinning. He too can not destroy his beard by shaving.

      @@emjmnc Hi Matt, I really appreciate your humility. I started losing hair in my early 20's (am now 46). So I have been shaving (the little hair I have left) for a long time...as scripture would say (He is BALD). Is it ok for a balding man to shave his head according to your knowledge of Scripture?

    I appreciate the thoughts and the desire to be faithful to Gods Law. I think it is important to understand that a beard, in the OT, was a symbol of commitment and consecration to the LORD. However, the beard regulations were part of the ceremonial law and distinctly instituted to set Israel apart from pagan nations. In the New Covenant, we must remember not to put new wine in old wine skins. Christianity is not a Christian version of Judaism. The New Covenant is altogether different which means that Judaism is null and void - obsolete (Hebrews). What separate's us today is our commitment to Christ and our love for one another. Our Lord said, "By this all men will know you are my disciples, that you love one another." Not facial hair, not dietary law, not clothing laws etc. Now with that being said, I think the New Covenant emphasizes a difference in genders and we are to celebrate that. I would love all men to wear some type of facial hair....its masculine. Who is more pleasing to God? A bearded man without love or an un-bearded man who loves Christ, His word and His people? The un-bearded man.
