Why EU Suppliers Will Not Want To Supply The UK Because Of The New Border Delays

  • Another week of #government chaos and incompetence as #rishisunak continues to insist his plan is working. #minister Paul Maynard, is being investigated for misuse of public funds, a Czech billionaire, Daniel Kretinsky, is said to be close to buying #Royal Mail, a collapse in applications from foreign students wanting to study in the UK, raw #sewage being tipped into Lake Windemere by United Utilities whose recently retired CEO was paid £30 million over 12 years. In Brixham the water is contaminated and unfit to drink.
It was claimed that JCB, the family business of #borisjohnson friend and benefactor Anthony Bamford, who is said to be in hiding and sought by HMRC to whom it is thought he owes £500 million, continued to sell equipment to #russia long after sanctions were imposed.
An article in the Daily Telegraph read "The Tory Party has dug its own grave. Nothing will save it now."
According to a Twitter feed from 'Ciaràn, The Euro Courier' (@eurovanman) he explains in detail the difficulty in importing goods into the UK now that post #brexit controls have been implemented.
Random vehicles are sent to the Sevington Border Facility, 22 miles from #dover for inspection where they can wait for many hours before their loads are inspected. Ciaràn waited 5 hours two weeks ago and six hours this week.
He describes the facility as having an atmosphere of intimidation which he believes is deliberate. He found the staff unfriendly. His van was taken into a locked shed, he was told to wait in a corner whilst two inspectors arrived and without saying a word, to him inspected the contents of his van.
Foreign divers, treated this way and deliberately delayed indefinitely will simply refuse to come to the UK adding to our already serious #food supply problems.
According to the Department for Transport website, facilities at Sevington include "toilets, hand washing and water for all drivers parked on site" Thousands of foreign and UK drivers will be expected to wait at Sevington indefinitely with nothing more than a cold tap providing water which may well be unfit to drink.
Drivers will not accept being treated rudely and long waiting times. They will refuse to come to the UK adding to our #food supply problems.
Sevington, the most important facility in the UK for goods arriving from the EU is managed by a #french company Sodexco!

Speaking as a German, your narrative of this persons experience going through the controls reminded me very much of the controls we had ( before 1989) crossing from BRD to DDR ( East Germany), not so much food controls because they needed the food and always arranged a swift entry, but the normal vehicle and people controls. It really was a massive exercise of intimidation by design and by implementation, big empty unfriendly sheds, noisy steel shutters that locked you in, officious looking inspectors who obviously hated people from the west. any excuse to keep you waiting and ruin your days schedule. We West Germans hated crossing that border. Many West German truckers didn`t want to so an East German trucking firm called `Deutrans` was created with loyal to the cause East German drivers, they all had wives and children at home, so they had to keep there noses clean!!.

One is telling us that 1 out 10 person in the EU is in poverty/joblessness etc. Figures are higher in the UK, and the EU comprises very different countries: Greece or Moldova are poor. Denmark is not. The idea of the EU is that the rich ones should help their poorer neighbours. Poorer people won't be able to afford them and will be forced to buy cheaper but less healthy alternatives. As people's health declines, it puts more pressure on a health service which is already in a deplorable state. It also affects productivity as sick people cannot work as efficiently or even at all. Hello Michael, Once again thank you for your Saturday video and throughly agree with your views/comments. Thames Water are in the process of site investigations for the construction of the planned (new) very large 150 billion litre reservoir to the south west of Abingdon. The area is bounded by Steventon, Drayton, SW Abingdon, Marcham, West Hanney and the main Great Western main railway line between Grove and Steventon. This reservoir will occupy part of the existing and the proposed extension of the floodplain area south of Marcham which is prone to flooding during periods of heavy rain making the properties already at risk even more vulnerable to major flood damage, the flood waters containing sewage (a TW speciality).
Personally I have had flooding on two occasions this year in my road and in my house in 2007. Best wishes from Abingdon.

Yes the logistics industry used to be very Brexity, like the farming and fishing community. Didn't quite work out. Most drivers are not British in any case, even if they are employed by British companies. But the largest amount of lorries driving to bring stuff to Britain, are EU based logistics companies. And they are now being 'inconvenienced' and will likely refuse the Britain run, unless there is no other option.
