I had a hard time this week using the timber-tech conceal-lok fasteners. I had to fight them to get them to have a consistent reveal. Im going to invest in some spacers and the cameo lever. I don’t like busting my joist tape with a chisel and hammer.
Hey Jason. You serve up a wealth of content from your years of experience - so valuable!! I do have one question that applys to gapping - when using the DECKSERDRY spline(gasket) product. How much room to you factor in for the spline when laying out your deck boards? 1/4" ? 2/8"? ? ??
@DrDecks, I think a more common issue: the house / pre-cast columns / etc are not exactly square... and I have to live with that reality. ;)

Any advice how to level a deck board that is higher than the breaker board? I must have missed the raised bit of blocking. Too far into it to undo. Maybe I’m seeking a solution that doesn’t exist.
Who do I contact for unattached main 4x4 for support of deck bolts not screwed in all the way very uneven on one side needs to raised up he doesn't seem to want to do it so I am thinking small claims and better business bureau this 10,000 .00 looks like a 10 yr old boy did it

What about a deck thats also a roof for the deck underneath it?it dont have spacers.infact it has rubber seals that go in the grooves between the boards....just sayin....
There are gap less decking materials
My builder didn’t gap and 2 years later I have to replace damaged boards
Use a screw for make the space
