Thank you for this video! I also found that the Nerite snails very good against this white mold. They eat it with pleasure and because of big snail size, it's easy to catch them of after the job is done and aquarium stabilised.

I read that you struggled with white mould on driftwood some 6 months ago. Has the white mould disappeared by itself eventually, as indicated in the video? What else did you do to clear it up? Thanks for your response.

Another thing, I am noticing is detritus worms (discovered about this after researching) which stressed me out. Water is still cycling and will be 2 weeks soon for new planted aquarium setup. Discovering new things everyday but after research most is heading for a positive side but slow.

Hello. I have a concern about some fluffy, white substance floating along the cord of my water heater. The heater is situated at the bottom of my tank, where I keep two African dwarf frogs. I'm worried whether it is something that can hurt them, and I don't know what to do. I have seen it suggested to use aquarium salt treatment according to the amount of water in my tank but I'm not sure. Please let me know what you think!

I felt so relieved after watching this video but now getting nervous again. I tried a dry start in my new tank, I think I didn't give it enough ventilation and a white mold developed. I saw where flooding the tank would solve it so I flooded it. 2 days later, the mold appeared again all over the driftwood bonsai trees. More alarming is that now I am seeing it on some of the plants on the substrate. It has been over a week since I flooded the tank.Any advice would be very helpful

Would anyone know if the same principles apply? Or is it a different type of mold?

Official WASABI Moderator: Yes, it does emit proteins that make the surface of your water smell rancid. Please continue to do water changes until it goes away. Also, please check NORI aqua channel for my exclusive interview.

I think my cycle might have crashed. Tank has been up and running for about 2 years. I put a new bit of wood in the tank and the next day there was loads of biofilm all over it and long threads of it floating around the tank

Oh man. IMy driftwood had a lot of white mold. So, I placed it in a bucket and poured boiling water in it. Now I know that it isn't harmful, I will place it back in the tank. The tank is still pretty new, so I guess I will have to continue age the water.

setting up a new black water aquarium, will the tannins clear the white mould off my bog wood please?

Nope my mopani wood (great for tannins) is my worst offender. I don't think tannins have any effect. Just wait it out. The hardest thing about this hobby is patience. Nothing good is fast in the aquatic world it seems.

Only problam is that they breed to much because mold is infinite source of food for this snail! But THINK he is the best drIft wood modl TERMINATOR!

Also there’s the white slimy stuff on my objects like fake plants and hut there is also these bubble like substance sitting in the corner of my tank on top of the water. Official WASABI Moderator: Hi Alexis, what you are experiencing is poor water flow in the aquarium and poor filtration. The biological layer of beneficial bacteria hasn't established and what you are seeing is the 'bad' bacteria taking over. Kindly do a 80% water change and use melamine sponge to clean out the aquarium to get rid of the substances. Introduce an air stone to remove the bubble substances on the surface of the aquarium water. Hope this helps! ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ

You can put some otocinclus affinis (amazonic catfish), it is a pretty cute small fish and they will eat it all.

I have a new set up with wood that sticks up out of the waterline and it's the wood above the water that's got the white fuzzy mould. What can i do for that?

That isn't actually mold, but a collection of biofilm as it dries as your water evaporates, please wipe it off on regular maintenance - Official WASABI Aquarium Channel Moderator

I recently got frogbits into my tank, and some of them have this white, fuzzy, look around the leaves. Is this mold?? How should I take care of it, because I couldnt find any answers:(

    • @NORIaquaCh

Official WASABI Moderator: Hi ani, that means that you need to throw away affected frogbit, and replace with new frogbit. Frogbit is sensitive. Also, please check NORI aqua channel for my exclusive interview.

I left my wood in my new set up, and it developed a thick layer of this mold. It smelled horrible too! I thought it would dissipate, as you say, but it got worse and I couldn't stand the smell. I took it out, and started over with fresh treated water. Did I act too soon?
