At first I thought the little "siren" would be a whimsical ally to guide you through an underwater maze but lo and behold it was yet another death factory ready to churn out fresh murder upon Mark's face area
@tommy karrick He said that AFTER the fact, after he already choked him against the bars. So you bet on my second chance I'm taking his submarine and dipping.
16:55 I think Mark forgot that this kid has been doing the Triathlon in addition to having to hold his breath. The fact that this kid sees the sun rise when he gets to the farm implies that he might have even been awake through the night! I think he has every right to be short of breath.
That ball with the lights that you found in the secret area is a secret ending "key in a way" you would have to collect like 20 of them to unlock the secret ending. You have already passed like 7 or so,etching so it doesn't really matter at the point that you are in the story
Mark, these things(bombs) are secrets and if you find them all you unlock a secret ending...Like this are comment the same so Mark can see and make a special video with the secret ending!
Am I the only one who got really freaked out by this part? I know me not being a huge fan of deep waters made its part but this game really has and awesome and creepy atmosphere, more than Limbo. I finished this part by myself and got here to see how Mark reacted. At least I wasn't the only one to really get surprised by that "jumpscare"
Someone should make a horror game taking place almost entirely inside a near-futuristic bathysphere or small submarine. You play as one of two everyday pilots whose job is to take your company's most advanced model further down than any technology before into a specific trench in the Pacific to collect samples for study. Everything is initially beautiful, filled with magnificent sea life before it starts getting dark at lower levels where larger, rarer beasts emerge. Your excavation of the trench goes swimmingly, until you find a hidden entrance to a far deeper labyrinth. Against your partner's wishes, you are ordered by the company to explore further where you discover hints of strange ruins. Suddenly, your vessel is attacked by a gruesome creature resembling the corpse of a diver, and your co-pilot is killed. The commotion causes the entrance to collapse, leaving you trapped in unknown territory with God knows what lurking. Now, stuck inside a damaged metal container with depleting air & power, you as the lone survivor have little choice but to navigate this no-man's land and find a way back to the surface with only your wits and limited radio guidance from your senior mission supervisor. Exploring the ruins, you'll uncover the mystery behind this ancient lost civilization, how it connects to the evolution of society above ground, and what exactly happened here *(Hint: You are NOT in Atlantis)*. Utilizing occasional instructions and reality-based mechanics, you must keep your vessel functioning through a series of frequent tasks to maintain oxygen, electricity, and repair damage taken in environmental collisions or enemy assault. The further you go, the more difficult these duties become since your ship can only handle so much deep-sea pressure. Depending on your condition, you'll also have to contend with nausea, vivid hallucinations, anxiety, and more. Learning secrets of your surroundings will intensify your fear as the puzzling world becomes ever more alien in nature, displaying oceanic behaviors that defy logic and present eerie puzzles. Most creatures you encounter will be like *Bioshock + Dead Space*, driven by an unknown parasitic organism that does things to its victims beyond your worst nightmares. By the finale, the protagonist will be so radically changed that you may not want to see him/her go on. *I'm not sure yet what I would title this, something simple like maybe Depth or Depths? Let me know what you think or would suggest.*
***** Thanks, wow, I hadn't looked at this comment for a LONG while. My only issue with going outside the sub onto an island is that I kind of imagined the experience always being from "within" (either your sub or dive suit). You know, to emphasize the sense of claustrophobic dread closing in, knowing that the water is your greatest threat, that you'll be crushed to death if too much leaks in. I wanted that separation between you and the sea, almost an aquarium-like effect, to progressively break down as the creatures and environment never let up on threats that can breach your only means of transportation and protection from the elements. There will be moments when you'll be damaged or stuck and have to venture out in your suit to correct the problem, which is where fear of the creatures REALLY kicks in, but only in specific circumstances where sea-pressure realistically wouldn't quickly affect you. I still have a lot of research to do about the physics of the deep-ocean levels to determine under what conditions that could happen without coming off as totally unbelievable.
Depths is a little cliche. Because naming an ocean-themed game with an ocean name is a little unoriginal. Like how ocean movies are called things with the words "blue" and "deep". But like the movie Jaws, the title is a small detail, but not too small. Something like that.
10:00 ive seen this series before, but i forgot about that grudge water thingy so when i first saw it, i screamed (in my head cause its 3 am) and i got one of the biggest frights of my life
It probably does something like which ending you get, and this would lead to the secret ending if that's the case, but most likely only if he finds them all, this is only me speculating though. Also, when Jacksepticeye played this, he missed that one.
Anyone wondered what the bad guys actually are? I mean they stand there watching lines of zombie people marching, they patrol the forests, they set dogs on people, but they also have kids clinging to their legs like they're teaching them or their families are the only exceptions...?
I think humanity split into the Mindless Slave Workforce, and the Evil Overlords leaving only escapees like the kid you play as to scavenge the disease-ridden dystopia they've left in their wake.
I think they're trying to tamp down the worm infection. In the alternate ending, thr boy assumes the zombie stance, and in the normal ending, he joins the huddle. There is no way that the huddle is a good guy.
For those that don't know, remember, or is Markimoo, Samathera was what he named the character from Misao. (great rpg. if you don't know about it, you should check it out)

2:58 “There’s so many unanswered questions, and I love it! I, I love like a story that doesn’t tell itself completely right off the bat. It’s, it’s told, there’s a certain word for it, but it’s a game that’s story is told in the environment, and that’s what I can really appreciate. Like you glean, like, this whole universe exists. And the thing about game, it’s a visual medium, so of course you can, like, execute these ideas through just telling about the environment, and then you can infer your own interpretation about it. Boosch-ski!” → I think the word for “environmental storytelling” you are looking for is _mise-en-scène_, a term that can include ways a medium depicts scene, props, characters, and other things in a meaningful way. Another term for describing a story’s resistance to tell its story completely is “writerly texts,” which comes from Roland Barthes’s _S/Z_. In short, the reader of the writerly text has to work with the author in order to come up with a meaning or a storyline in the work, and the reason you “love a story that doesn’t tell itself completely right off the bat” is because you like to experience the “bliss” or the “_jouissance_” it gives you. → 4:12 “Is that a projector screen? That’s weird. Why is that in there? Did this use to be a classroom or something?” → Another term that can apply to the projector screen here is _mise-en-abîme_, a term that refers to a frame within a frame or a story within a story, a device that can be used to deconstruct language and concepts within a story, which can be done in a _mise-en-scène_. Because the supposed light or projector in this area shows no film or story, one possible interpretation is the futility to render a cohesive interpretation for the game’s story, a type of futile, nihilistic attitude this dystopia engenders. → By the way, if you’ve made it this far, thanks for taking the time to read this tl;dr. ☺
I'm really enjoying this playthrough, hes pretty calm and chill which is super nice, while still maintaining his personality and humor. I haven't watched Mark in a long time because of the loud overreactions, which are not enjoyable for me personally. I wanted to return and check up on him, so I watched this series. He's pretty mellow in this one, maybe I'll start watching him more often again :)
Lydia Hazen I feel the same he has some of the best playthrough’s on UA-cam and I really like him but sometimes he just to loud for me personally I understand he’s interested in the game but it gets annoying to me sometimes but other than that he’s great asf I love mark:)
Funny how we all play this game and never question where is this kid going. I mean, we have a tiny child in what is probably the most dangerous facility in that universe. Personally think this reinforces the theory that he is being mind controlled by the blob the whole time, because what kid would willingly go into there just to free that thing?
Mark, you and Jack, Are by far the best thing thats ever happened to me, When i had bad thought and a hard time when i thought it was impossible for me to smile, You made me smile, You made me laugh, You have made me a better person in life, And you are my best friend for that, And i dont know anyway to thank you, but thank you markiplyer.
all this time of horror gameplay gave Mark the ability to instinctively get the secret aspects of certain games. the fact that he got the orb at 13:01 was a proof.
8:23 anyone else think back to that part fom the movie Meet the Robinsons that was near the end where the hat with the glowing red light took over and mind controled everyone?
As soon as I saw that Samara lookalike, I knew Marki was gonna die at least one. Pale women with long black hair near or in water are always a bad thing.
The ambient drone music in this works fucking perfectly. When he breaks through the first boards into the vast underwater ocean and the music kicks in... so hauntingly beautiful.
A "denizen" is just some inhabitant of a particular place, usually used to describe something foreign or animalistic. Like in Lord of the Rings Tolkien calls goblins "denizens of the deep" which is my favorite use of the word :P
the secret unlocks an altrnet ending you need to find them all then play it again and in the corn feild thers asecret underground door u need to go in you have 2 secrets you need one more
is it strange that i am sitting in my room in the dark watching this and this is a dystopian atmosphere with everything dark, black, grey and no light?
I really want to know what the underwater "monster" is and does.. It utterly disturbes me and at the same time intrigues me. I wonder what it does when it gets in the Sub....
@@MollsKoco I saw a few of these videos before but never got through them all. I was reminded of it after I heard the name which I had forgotten. So I came back to see it all. I frequently rewatch old videos though
I just met Mark yesterday and he was as awesome in person as he is in his videos! Mark, you motivate me to make people laugh with my funny videos everyday! Keep it up Markimoo!
I'm so happy you got to meet him! Unfortunately, I live in Maine which is literally the farthest a mainland state can get from California so I don't think I will ever get the opportunity of meeting him. A girl can dream.
Just as Mark was talking about environmental story telling, I really appreciate how much the game conveys without direct GUI overlays, long pre-ambles or spoken/written tutorials, which can all take a lot away from an immersive story experience. For instance, the boy automatically sneaks around the people early on, which conveys a lot in a comparatively subtle way: I'm scared; these people are dangerous; we must hide so they don't see us. There are a lot of little things that the player learns from the boy throughout the game like that and I think that's absolutely wonderful game design!
Here are my notes... Pewds is about atmosphere when playing this game Jack is about experience when playing the game Mark is about gameplay when playing the game Like if you agree
Hey Mark, I would like to suggest an RPG Horror-type game called "Dreaming Mary". If you see this, please let me know by leaving your own comment, then could you please give it a look and possibly do a let's play of it? It would make me so happy :3
At first I thought the little "siren" would be a whimsical ally to guide you through an underwater maze but lo and behold it was yet another death factory ready to churn out fresh murder upon Mark's face area
That sounds exactly like something Mark would say
yeah, it's not like the butterfly in Limho >.> the butterfly was much more trustworthy

The monster's much creepier because she's almost human and not a serpent or whatever, like you'd expect. It's out of place and screws with your mind.

As soon as I saw that Samara lookalike, I knew Marki was gonna die at least one. Pale women with long black hair near or in water are always a bad thing.
Yep. Unless you tell them they look FABULOUS!
+Void Proxy Is that a daz reference or just coincidence...lol
+MoMo the ring I think. Or maybe the grudge, I'm not sure.
Well, it's not ALWAYS a bad thing. 😉
The ambient drone music in this works fucking perfectly. When he breaks through the first boards into the vast underwater ocean and the music kicks in... so hauntingly beautiful.
sick AF today therefore Markiplier binge
*Hands you cookies while dressed in a hazmat suit* Join us.
same
Thanks guys, hope those of you who're unwell feel better soon too :)
Same hahah
Literally me today
16:35 Denizon. Nice vocab word, Mark. I had that on an SAT/vocab test at school once. It means citizen.
A "denizen" is just some inhabitant of a particular place, usually used to describe something foreign or animalistic. Like in Lord of the Rings Tolkien calls goblins "denizens of the deep" which is my favorite use of the word :P
Wat about Ouchkabibles?
denizen* and yeah :) he's a smart guy, and was going to be an engineer, or med student.
Samanthera- from Misao. Ahh memories!
MIIIIIISAAOOOOO!!!
lol I thought I was the only one that knew that. No one else commented about it XD
+Gamer Girl2000 We are among the few who remember. I started to reply then realized, someone has to know other than me, and went digging.
Lol, Samanthera. i remember that!
I remember that game! Such nice memories xD
"...And I'm not THAT smart, I'm just a little ahead of the curve. But OKAY. 'HABLUFCH.'" Mark Fischbach, 2k16.
13:33 Lmao
You named the protagonist of Misao "Samanthera," Mark XD
I also remembered that.
That moment when you remember Markiplier references better than Markiplier.
Lawlietftw30 Should I call that a win, a fail, or what?
So THAAATS what happened to Samanthera after the whole school thing. It all makes sense now!
Ah, good times.
and don't forget that library girl, "Isabelonker"
Someone commented that Marks gonna hate the Water.

That actually was a secret.

I melt on my desk every time Mark gets closer to his mic. His voice is so satisfying...
Lol, Mark sounds like those birds from Finding Nemo
"Hey! Hey! Hey!" 😂
I really want to know what the underwater "monster" is and does.. It utterly disturbes me and at the same time intrigues me. I wonder what it does when it gets in the Sub....
markiplier, those spheres are secrets. You have to collect all of them, and you can activate the secret ending

:)
I'm so happy you got to meet him! Unfortunately, I live in Maine which is literally the farthest a mainland state can get from California so I don't think I will ever get the opportunity of meeting him. A girl can dream.
Early! time for a pun
Why couldn’t the bicycle stand up on its own?
It was two tired
hahahahahajajajahahahajajahajahxgd *ded*
Lol,I see whatca did there😂😂
Nice. 😎
BOOOO
xD lol
Just as Mark was talking about environmental story telling, I really appreciate how much the game conveys without direct GUI overlays, long pre-ambles or spoken/written tutorials, which can all take a lot away from an immersive story experience. For instance, the boy automatically sneaks around the people early on, which conveys a lot in a comparatively subtle way: I'm scared; these people are dangerous; we must hide so they don't see us. There are a lot of little things that the player learns from the boy throughout the game like that and I think that's absolutely wonderful game design!
WTF happened to prison architect, I love that series bring it back please
Please mark. Bring it back!!
I think he's going back to it but he's gonna finish this first. At least I hope he does cause it was very interesting but if not oh well.

I've been considering playing through this recently. It looks like such an epic game!
It is epic!!
JUST DO IT!!! DON'T LET YOUR DREAMS BE DREAMS!
Have u seen the entire game yet? If not go ahead I played it and I would totally recomend it as long as u haven't spoiled it for yourself
+Timøthy T. Seriously dude? U ruined a really awesome game for this guy. Ur not funny, and ur not cool. That's just messed up
+Angel Smith you're right I should go and shoot three people that I hate in my class... I should just dream about it!
Here are my notes...
Pewds is about atmosphere when playing this game
Jack is about experience when playing the game
Mark is about gameplay when playing the game
Like if you agree
Can't stand Pewdie Pie.
When you found the 'secret' and broke the ball thing, you broke one of those back in the first episode
Might lead to a secret ending or something
