On the last bridge, one difference you missed was the angle that the steel was on. Your steel piece was closer to vertical, where theirs was closer to horizontal, with a change in direction to more vertical when they switch from steel to road. I'm not sure if that played a part in why their design worked or not though.
Definitely. In the cheaper bridge, the steel piece on the left was entirely underwater, and on the right, nearly so - while RCE's steel pieces on either side were steep enough to come out of the water. I think that allowed the cheaper bridge to transfer more weight to the ropes at either end, and split the force more evenly between both rope and steel anchors.
I’ll be honest, I thought his name Diablobike this entire time. Then I finally realized it was in fact not Diablo. Either way would be a hell of a bike to ride.
20:12 matt please that truss looks totally different from yours, what do you mean it's identical 😭 also looks like the node is moved for better stress distribution between the steel and the rope. These are some pretty darn good budget bridges! Low stress is not as competitive as low budget, so if you're getting top10s here, you should totally go for top1s there 😇
@20:22 the reason the other guy made it work with roadpieces is the following: his steel is shorter, this puts the ROPE on more of a downward angle (thus carrying weight AND keeping the steel in place as opposed to simply keeping the steel in place and letting the steel carry all the weight....... also, the wood between the driving road and the steel goes straight down for him since his steel is shorter, this puts pressure into the ROPE more than into the steel. arguably reversing the roles of which material is carrying the load and which material is keeping that other material in place. so to sum it up, his setup makes it so that at certain points of the vehicles driving across the road, the rope takes away tension from the steel.
Can’t wait for the collaboration with legal eagle after the budget war between Matt and Tyler goes too far. How many game characters must perish for the sake of a pound/dollar😂
Last bridge had a short steel brace on the left side, and as you should know the longer the beam more pressure in the middle of it to bend it. That is how the road parts where supported.
14:58 My guess is that the piece of road acts as a small counterweight, which prevents the diamond in the middle from tilting ever so slightly once the truck hits the bridge.
14:57 I assume it’s bc more weight on the right side and helps the center not pull to much to the right by the heavy trucks since the diamond can pivot left and right
If there’s more weight on the outer edges of a bridge it puts stress near the strongest point the point attached to the ground:example- some planes hold fuel in there wings so there’s less stress on the lifting point therefor less likely for the wings to snap on hi winds and it also allows for more cargo in the fuselage -Random high schooler who wants to be an engineer
15:00 It weighs down the right side, bringing the left side up slightly. This makes the truck slightly higher, slightly reducing the energy it transfers to the "bridge." Also, please do a bridge review on that bridge.
Not sure how I feel about the song being the advert. On one hand, I'm offended the song didn't even mention a truss. On the other I'm impressed by the marketing strat. Well played sir, well played.
14:57 I bet what's going on here is that the slightly higher amount of weight on the right adds tension to the left which strengthens the bridge and without that extra tension it bends too far and snaps.
This morning I stumbled on his channel by accident and didn't realize until I saw his username in poly bridge... the algorithm. You can't escape the algorithm.
Can we just appreciate how much you love copy pasting comments and then just changing the name to this youtuber's name and therefor not truly meaning this comment when you type it? Sorry, i meant- copy paste it.
15:00 This is what is known as "Bridge Ballast" by the apex bridge builder Jon from Many a True Nerd. Bridge ballast will save your bridge, and you won't understand why.
fun fact: the reason the road was stronger than the steel is that the road has more COMPRESSIVE strength so, despite the weaker shear & tension strength of the road, due to how the road was positioned it was PERFECT for the situation as almost all of the force is COMPRESSIVE
NOOOOOOO HE MASSACRED TAKE ON ME!!!. I really like the singing segments, and then he just takes one of the objectively best songs and made it the sponsored segment
Bridge: goes pure red Matt: sure we can make this weaker to save money 👍 Bridge: fails Matt: moves 2 pixels Bridge: magically works without going red Me who is watching: WAIT WHAT THE, TGIS GUY AIN'T NO ENGINEER HE IS A LITERAL MAGICIAN... or god
Remember. Architecture is form over function. Engineering is function over form. If you are putting how well it works for the intended outcome over how it looks, it is most likely engineering. If your focus is on it looking nice, rather than how well it works, it is most likely architecture.
6:15 As an American now that I hear the British pronunciation of rerouting I find that the British one actually makes a lot more sense, although it would be hard for me to change.
In ny opinion engineer is the one, who finds the best way for reaching the results, architect is the one, who makes the results. (Idk if i explained its how i wanted to)
So, Poly bridge materials have different tension properties, much like the materials in engineering do. Road really good compression strength, which is why it can support certain things better than steel or wood would on the bridge
Social media getting people to use American pronunciation is a real problem. If you're not American, don't let social media try to influence your pronunciation and stuff. Keep your culture!
How I feel about these games: Polybridge 1: Okay this game is interesting Polybridge 2: A sequel okay then Polybridge 3: This is feeling like the toy story thing.
I got most of those scores without cheese in fact, but now? The Real Cheese Engineering begins 😈🧀
What kind of cheese will you be using? Swiss? Cheddar? Brie? Parmesan?
The Cheese Stands Alone
Did you though?
He's trying so hard to beat your bridges you built first try
Oh sh1t it's about to go down
We need another poly bridge olympics between Matt and Tyler
The very first Bridgelympics (any other cooler name ?)
If it happens, we need budget shaving to be an event

Even an architect could’ve spotted that! This channel is going downhill!
Tyler beat Real Civil Engineer but he didn’t expect Fake Uncivil Architect.

Fake barbaric architect
Woooi
Me: help
I’ll be honest, I thought his name Diablobike this entire time. Then I finally realized it was in fact not Diablo. Either way would be a hell of a bike to ride.
💀
I love how he tried to hide it, and then shows clips of Tyler with his usual name clearly visible...
One would be a "hell" of a ride, the actual would be kind of floppy and all over the place. The latter would do well in tunnels though.
Isn't it dildobike?
You must be mixing it up with cheesediablo (Matt's old game name)
E
This is a genious sponsor segment
agreed
I don't know if I appreciate it. I'm all for an ad read. But this feels like sacrilege. The songs are supposed to be about bridges😭😭
it's so good my ears bleed
Bruh im so wondering...shopify is a german company... Never thought it would go international
shopify sponsors anti-queer terrorism
5:55 i feel like this is gonna become a thing where they just keep changing places by shaving off like a dollar 😂
Then I becomes CENTS
Now I just want to see you two guys go co-op on a puzzle based game. Huge bromance vibes.
Toodee and Topdee would be great game for them to play together
This was the first and only sponsor segment i have ever watched
The amount of work and effort it took is just crazy
I know right? XD
4:16
4:18 is the only sponsor section to ever genuinely entertain me throughout all my years of watching yt
I recommend Martincitopants. His sponsor segments are literally reuploaded by people into short videos because they like em enough.
Internet comment etiquette has some okay ones
lol Same
Reccomend villager news
Frl tho lolz
We need a full shopify song
20:12 matt please that truss looks totally different from yours, what do you mean it's identical 😭 also looks like the node is moved for better stress distribution between the steel and the rope.

That Shopify sponsor was epic 😂

9:34 Matt you have to know that roads (in Poly Bridge, I don't know in reality) works better under compression!
Generally yes, but in PB2 that sort of dangle design worked really well for some reason.
@@rzezzy1 they made it stronger in tension in PB2 than it is now. dangling road is in tension, road as a wall brace is in compression.
Can’t wait for the collaboration with legal eagle after the budget war between Matt and Tyler goes too far. How many game characters must perish for the sake of a pound/dollar😂
The only way to settle this feud with Aliensrock: The First Annual Gentleman's Bridge-off!
Matt is the highlight of our days. We are always so excited to see his videos. He cures depression.
I was definitely laughing by the end.
good use of the song slot makes it engaging
Last bridge had a short steel brace on the left side, and as you should know the longer the beam more pressure in the middle of it to bend it. That is how the road parts where supported.
0:10 dang bro, the editor changing it to that was just disrespectful 💀
never give an engineer a gaming computer...
They'd rather build one.
Yes lol
4:59 I think that’s architect
that's probably the best sponsor mention I've ever seen
Its a great day when this guy uploads.
He posts ev-wait that’s what you mean
Wow tyler just did a very shaved banana bridge. He doesn't do banana bridges until he gets half budget with a proper bridge
You beat your rival, by giving your soul to the devil. Does it worth it tho Matt
Tyler is the only Matt's friend in poly bridge and yet he still became rivals with Tyler
You know what they say: keep your friends close and your enemies closer (by friending them on poly bridge 3)
This is the best shopify ad read I have ever seen, it is amazing. I love your re makes of songs
Tylers and RCEs relationship kinda reminds me of the relationship between Timmy Turners Dad and their Neighbour Mr. Dinkleburg
1:07 banana split
4:16 This is the best part of the video XD
4:57 now thats a AD

Day 30 of asking Matt to play Mindustry.
Let's make this guy have a bunch of likes so he notices the box kingreal

so glad you hired tyler for voiceover, very much enhances the experience

Loved the “Take on Me” filch.
I remember the first time I heard that song - also the first time I saw the video - and instantly loved both.
I just recently discovered both of you guys and I’m obsessed with watching you guys go back and forth

These videos are fantastic, I love the back and forth in a Civil manner , It Rocks!
The snark. It's like a rivalry in a sports movie. I love it
Can everyone just pouring out the fact he just rickrolled us at the start of the video,I’m sure that’ll be good for the algo
Can’t believe I just watched a sponsored section voluntarily
9:22 super random but got me good XD
9:35 Roads can work as a support when its uder compressive force, but idk if its better than steel tho

The song you parodied within the sponsorship is the song my band is marching to lol
I am loving the YT rivalry in this game... also glad you introduced us to him for more PB3 content.
Hi are you going to cover the Infraspace update?
Suddenly internet historian is getting very uncomfortable in his "best ad maker" throne.
Good news (for RCE)! The UK government has approved the tunnel under Stonehenge!
