Lin- Manuel Miranda (the guy playing Hamilton) wrote this whole musical over the span of almost 10 years. It’s also a love letter to Rap and Hip Hop. The spinning stage is referred to as “the turntable.”
Notice the “ I am the AL-EX-AND-ER we are meant to be” = Biggie’s “I am the NO-TO-RI-O-US..”
“I’m only nineteen but my mind is older” = Mobb Deep’s “I’m only nineteen but my mind is old”
Each character has a music style that fits their character. This stuff is peppered all over this musical! This show is AMAZING! I hope you enjoy it! 😎

When you get to them, you should watch A Winter's Ball, Helpless, and Satistfied all together because they're super connected and some of the context gets lost if you split them up! I love your enthusiasm!

You said: "This is a powerful message. This is how it be in the hood."
Lin when he wrote this after reading the history: "Holy shit. This is about a bunch of white guys in the 1700's, but it's really a hiphop story!"

Glad to see you connecting with the message in the songs. The writer of Hamilton says it is the story of America then told by America now, and so many of the messages still resonate today. Many of the quotes were used, very appropriately, on banners during the BLM protests in 2020. I agree with your take. If we are living in a world where we don't expect to live past 20, we do need to rise up. 😎

The next songs are The Story of Tonight then Schyuler Sisters which I would listen to together since The Story of Tonight is short. But listening to all of those three songs together is the way to go since that really tells a story

You don't have to react to it, but check out the first time Lin performed the opening song, Alexander Hamilton, for the Obama's at the White House in 2009. At the time Hamilton the Musical was just an idea he was working on, and he talks about how, after reading a Hamilton, he realized that Alexander Hamilton's story is the embodiment of the "American Dream" and that it's also the embodiment of Hip Hop. He was born on an island in the Caribbean. Mother and Father weren't married. Father left when he was you, mother died when he was 10. He and his brother went to live with a cousin that ended committing suicide. But Hamilton "wrote his way out." His island was hit by a massive hurricane, and he wrote a letter published in the local that was so impressive, his community raised money to send him to the Colonies (NYC specifically) to go to college. Then he joined the Continental Army during the American Revolution and made a name for himself. He eventually rose to be selected by Pres Washington to be the first Treasury Secretary of the US and established the US banking system. Mostly because he was a prolific and influential writer. His words brought him success and fame. That said, he also was a passionate hot head, so he started beef with pretty much all of the other Founding Fathers and important men of the day. And I won't spoil all of it. But Hamilton was definitely a significant and interesting character in American history.

I dont know if anyone's commented this, so I apologize if it's repetitive: binge/obsessively watch the interviews w Lin, his director, his stage producer, his choreographer, his cast (ALL THE DANGERS SING), watch the B footage of dramaturgs talk abt how he put it together. took nearly 7+ yrs. all his songs are influenced AND inspired by mostly EC rappers. the beginning of My Shot, where the crew introduce themselves is a NYC MTA Subway thing, where kids dance in the Subway carts and collect money and they start w "SHOW TIME!"
    "WHAT TIME IS IT"
    "SHOW TIME".
im sure if you youtube it there are footage of this NYC specific rap/music/dance style. (I live in NYC 🙃)
you *will* not under any circumstances be disappointed.
Lin wrote the entire musical himself. researching his technical prowess teaches you so much abt black music, esp rap and R&B from the late 80s to now'ish, when the lyrics got real.
he even wrote a song called "Ten Duel Commandments" after N. B.I.G. "Ten Crack Commandments".
Lin himself (Hamilton) isn't a great singer and he's the first to say it. but he's an incredible rapper and song writer. he wrote the entire soundtrack for Mowana right after Hamilton. he's a technical wet dream imo.

Hey man, absolutely no hate here, I just think for the betterment of your channels future and growth you should probably figure out a way to even out your volume levels between what you’re watching and what you are saying because at some points in the video the music is so loud that I can’t understand a word you’re saying. Love the channel no negative emotions just figured I’d let you know
