    If you don't keep the weeds down they cause the jam up you see here, the dirt can't fall through the chain. Potato vines need to be cleared off too for ideal function. I have an IHC digger that is like that one. Except the chain drive is engaged with a lever. Grease the heck out of that thing!

      Good advice. We dug this years a couple weeks ago with the same digger. We had to cut the vines, cuz as you said, they wouldn’t go through. I’ll have a video on this year’s potatoes coming up soon.

    Cool video. It's rare to see those old machines in action anymore. I bet it would have been handy for digging up a gopro...

    Nice demo. A potato farm near me had an auction this summer, they had some Oliver diggers. As well as some nice low hour tractors

    Just a great video. Just great. Nice machine. Allways wanted one of those to dig my potatoe patch. Not really able to dig a lot of potatoes with a shovel or fork any more. Use to grow the same as you do.
    I use the cut potatoes up with in a few weeks. Don’t wanna throw them away. And normally get a dinners extra worth if ya go down each side of the row after main row dug. What type were the white potatoes.
    Great video. Thanks very much. Got me interested in planting again. Just about spring here in PEI, Canada.
    Have a great day. 🥔🥔

      Thanks for watching! I’m not sure on the type of the white potatoes, we got them the prior year for free from a friend that planted too much. I ended up putting them all in the next spring. Better than wasting them. The reds are Pontiac I think. Yeah the potato launcher was more of a laugh than anything. When I went through my potatoes, I put all the cut ones separate. Had an onion sack partially full. Then we eat those first

    I have the same machine. How do you get the chain to stop when you are moving from one place to another.

    • @WisconsinOliverNut
      @WisconsinOliverNut  2 місяці тому

      You have to disengage the drive dogs on each wheel. That’s what engages the gears to turn the chain

    Works great, wish I could find one but I know there’s none around where I live.

      I just laugh. Reminds me of younger days… Take grinder and grind a cutting taper on the barrel it will shave off excess tater. Try MAP gas….;)

    • @bigfoot-wo3qy

      Higher starch taters work better…. They with map gas will put holes in block walls in new house foundations….Lol I was told…..cough cough

      Geez, don’t know if I need that much power out of it. Doesn’t the end cap blow off?
