Hank's expressions and actions when trying to figure out the skulls made me crap up so hard because it's like you can see the the steam coming out of his head and then Emily on the side deviously smiling. :)
Neal Cleaver I honestly believed they were siblings for about a year. I watched the Brain scoop first and someone referenced Hank, who sounded like her little brother.
when your in a hole and you come face to face with a deadly snake, just turn your legs FREAKING 180 DEGREES AND RUN AS FAST AS YOUR TINY LEGS CAN CARRY YOU
We have these where I'm from and we find them all over the place. We don't call them skinks though, just blue-tongues or blue-tongued lizards if you have to. It's a shame because people are afraid of them like snakes and kill them when they find one in their home but they're totally harmless. I had one in my room once just minding its own business, we just left the door open and kept the dog away and it left.
yeah i never knew they were skinks, unless blue tongue lizards are a different thing. i used to have a couple small ones as pets, and found one that was like a meter long in my backyard once.
Maybe it's because I'm from Florida but I guessed manatee 5 seconds in😂 congrats on them no longer being on the endangered species list anymore as well!!!
Emily & others, I want to see a wood pecker's skull. I watched the SciShow episode on 'how does that not kill you' discussing the bird's resistance to the percussive forces that would, under other circumstances, cause brain damage. I would, very much, like to see a cross-section of such a skull.
AHHHHHHH HOW AM I DISCOVERING THAT MY TWO FAVORITE UA-camRS HAVE A VIDEO TOGETHER ONLY NOW, IN 2019?!!! OH MY GOD! I'M LOSING IT!! I ABSOLUTELY ADORE BOTH EMILY AND HANK AND THEIR CHANNELS!!
Oh my gosh it's Jessi from SciShowKids! I didn't know they'd worked together before! Hank has a great knack for finding incredibly talented, passionate and nerdy humans and giving them opportunities to thrive in new ways.
I really like these two as a pair. Not in a romantic way at all it just seems like they would be those two really bright and quirky kids in school. And I love that!
Yay Emily for asking relevant questions about the guest animal! The last couple of episodes I was frustrated because they didn't explain enough about it.
I'm so proud of myself, I got the manatee on the 3rd guess and immediately thought of an ant eater looking at those grinding molars and the big snooter bone. All the binge watching of brain scoop has paid off haha
I spent a semester in Australia and there were two blue-tongued lizards that lived in a hole in front of the tiny shed that was our laundry room. Every once in a while you'd go to pick up your clothes from the dryer and have to navigate around one of these guys. They were the best part of laundry day.
In Australia, yes. For some reason they often times change "lizard" from Australian Species to something else. Example, Frilled Lizard - Frilled Dragon in America.
Over 20yrs ago I was mowing the yard and I saw a movement in the grass along the side fence and I thought it was a snake but it was a Bluetongue because the ones here in Brisbane have the same back colouring as a carpet snake.
No. I believe he met her when he toured the University of Montana Zoological Museum. He thought it would be awesome to have a show that featured the museum, and Emily was very photogenic, so they formed a partnership of sorts. That's why she now has her own channel on UA-cam, called The Brain Scoop, which shows off awesome stuff from the museum.
Yay Blue Tongues are cool! I've held one! I was exploring in Margaret River and my grandfather happened across a Blue Tongue, so my whole family got to hold it!!! :)
This was so much fun! Blueberry is adorable and the humans were fun, too. ;) And Emily, just wanted to say I love your hair style. I'm gonna have to try that one out.
Many mammals have unfused mental symphyses (the connection of the two halves of the mandible come together); the aardvark mandible was probably not broken, it was probably just unfused. In humans, the mandible fuses pretty early, so we tend to think of it as one bone, but this is not generally true of mammals.
A "snake like" body is good for moving through undergrowth, holes or just digging. It's good for hiding and sneaking up on prey but it has a few downsides. -They can't turn around as fast as a lizard of the same size (since the whole body must run it's course) -They can't go backwards -Holding prey is difficult and requires huge amounts of strength -Acceleration is difficult, the body may act like a spring but moving an outstretched body is difficult and requires special mussels.
I once saw these two blue tounged lizards, the male really wanted to mate and the female was like nooooo and walked away... slowly. But the male was really persistant and follwed her for over an hour making noises slowly getting closer until he finally persuaded her. It was hilarious!
blue tongued skinks are so cute! they are chubby little bundles of adorable with tiny legs :) there was a large male skink at the bug/butterfly zoo in the area I live.
I live in Tasmania (Island state to the south of Victoria, Australia), and I've seen many a blue-tongue lizard in my back yard (different colouring). But in Aus we call them Blue-tongued 'lizards' not skinks. Very rarely have I heard them called skinks. And I guessed both the skulls! I love animals and anatomy!

I am subscribed to lots of youtubers and though some of them contain the same quality as your videos no one I can think of MAKES so gosh darn many! you come out with like 2-4 videos a week with all of your channels and scishow programs combined.... in short, thanks for being made of awesome. keep doin' what you're doin'.
Emily and Hank seem like they came from the same branch of the nerd tree! Cute!
Emily Hope yeah :D
Emily Hope she's the long lost Green sibling.
they are both SOOO A-DORK-ABLE! ❤😻🔬🔎❤
wrg, no such thing as nerx or not about it, science is ok, no nerx
They kinda look like brother and sister now that I really look at them next to each other... They're so fun together :3
True. I wish they made all their videos together
That would be fun! :)
Super proud of the fact I got manatee before Hank did
turdl38 same
just gotta love emily
Hank's expressions and actions when trying to figure out the skulls made me crap up so hard because it's like you can see the the steam coming out of his head and then Emily on the side deviously smiling. :)
Hank, Emily is you if you were a girl
Yeah... all of their hand movements and expressions are the same... it's super-weird.
Except Emily has better posture
And Hank if Emily if she were a dude.
They're both adorably awkward.
I think Emily is maybe smarter. But that could be because she's always testing him on stuff he doesn't know.
Neal Cleaver I honestly believed they were siblings for about a year. I watched the Brain scoop first and someone referenced Hank, who sounded like her little brother.
I miss Emilys stump hank segments. i enjoy guessing and getting stumped as well.
when your in a hole and you come face to face with a deadly snake, just turn your legs FREAKING 180 DEGREES AND RUN AS FAST AS YOUR TINY LEGS CAN CARRY YOU
4:09 "We have seahorses!?!!?"
watching hank interact with animals is so funny because he gets so excited
The second I saw the second skull I thought: "Anteater!" So I was pretty close.
Same xD
Ditto

+Jozzarozzer Yup. Blue-tongue lizards are a species of skink, just a lot bigger than most other skinks you find in your garden or wherever.
One day Hank it will be a Tapir and you wont even guess it that day I imagine :P
Blueberry is so pudgy and cute.
I love these talk shows! I'm actually glad they're long, I structure them into my day.
I love it when Emily brings "mystery bones"! :3
Maybe it's because I'm from Florida but I guessed manatee 5 seconds in😂 congrats on them no longer being on the endangered species list anymore as well!!!
+Cheesus Same here. I was screaming manatee.
I said dugong because I’m a failure to anyone who has ever loved me
But Hank /is/ from Florida lol
aww, I was thinking like an anteater.
I love these episodes. It's always awesome to learn something about an animal you knew little to nothing about.
I love this show! Thank you to everyone who helps make it!
2:32 "Meeeehhhh! But maybe it is!"
Emily & others, I want to see a wood pecker's skull. I watched the SciShow episode on 'how does that not kill you' discussing the bird's resistance to the percussive forces that would, under other circumstances, cause brain damage. I would, very much, like to see a cross-section of such a skull.
When the Skink is getting its closeup at the start it look like the smiliest creature ever. I enjoy this.
As first year biology student I must say animal wonders is the coolest thing on scishow !!!!
they look so cute together
4:40
"my FURst impulse."
heh heh, yeah.
AHHHHHHH HOW AM I DISCOVERING THAT MY TWO FAVORITE UA-camRS HAVE A VIDEO TOGETHER ONLY NOW, IN 2019?!!! OH MY GOD! I'M LOSING IT!! I ABSOLUTELY ADORE BOTH EMILY AND HANK AND THEIR CHANNELS!!
I can only give a thousand yesses to the continued appearances of Emily. She is so cool.
Also, that lobster shirt rocks.
Blue tongues are every where in Australia. There bites are nasty, as my cats would know
Stuart Eaton oh no, are they ok?
@Molly Butler no ask the blue tounged skink is ok cats have a nastier bite and scratch
I thought the second skull was an anteater :S
Oh my gosh! Blueberry's stubby little legs are so adorbs!
Love when Emily is on the show. She always brings the coolest dead animals to the party!
I just really wish they were related because they practically are.
they're SCIENCE COUSINS
Does she like him or am I still blind to nonverbal signs?
BLUEBERRY IS THE MOST ADORABLE ANIMAL I'VE EVER SEEN. I'M FREAKING OUT. SILENTLY.
Oh my gosh it's Jessi from SciShowKids! I didn't know they'd worked together before! Hank has a great knack for finding incredibly talented, passionate and nerdy humans and giving them opportunities to thrive in new ways.
+
Now kiss
Katie Zientek Hank's married. 😡
Avsgriffy but emily's not
Vexa 12 what's ur point?
Blueberry is adorable! And this whole talk show thing is awesome!
I've been subbed to Scishow since the beginning, and now I'm marathon through everything.
Oh wow ...these talk shows are just so good. and boy does Emily know her stuff
I really like these two as a pair. Not in a romantic way at all it just seems like they would be those two really bright and quirky kids in school. And I love that!
Scishow talk is just awesome, i really like the guess-part of it and not to mention the real animals :D
I really enoy these talkshows. I didn't think I would, but now they are my favorite part of the scishow, and that's some tough competition.
Hand and Emily have such great chemistry! I think it's their smiles.
I love this show!
I'm always happy to see a new video in my subscription box.
Yay Emily for asking relevant questions about the guest animal! The last couple of episodes I was frustrated because they didn't explain enough about it.
I like when you can handle the animals. It's very cute and it's good to know that not everything is going to bite or stick you with a quill.
You are so sympathetic! The show makes me smile and laugh with you all the time :)
I'm so proud of myself, I got the manatee on the 3rd guess and immediately thought of an ant eater looking at those grinding molars and the big snooter bone. All the binge watching of brain scoop has paid off haha
I love these two so much
I GUESSED IT AS SOON AS I SAW THE TEETH. I'm so proud of myself and my new-found animal skull knowledge. Thanks, Brian Scoop!

I love how these two talk to each other.

She's so adorable!!
Ohhh, Blueberry's tiny little nubbin' legs were so adorable!
Over 20yrs ago I was mowing the yard and I saw a movement in the grass along the side fence and I thought it was a snake but it was a Bluetongue because the ones here in Brisbane have the same back colouring as a carpet snake.
I generally skip the talk shows, but I just can't get enough of Emily!
wow i never even thought of that, podcast would be perfect for scishow!
She was just like, yes! When he said that it counted as stumped on the first one.
They're so adorable.

I'm so happy that ideas closer to guessing the skulls than Hank was!
some really endearing enthusiasm and entertaining educational content
Oh look its the woman who has made me forever fascinated with dead creatures and the man who made me appreciate science like nobody else could yay
Yay Blue Tongues are cool! I've held one! I was exploring in Margaret River and my grandfather happened across a Blue Tongue, so my whole family got to hold it!!! :)
This was so much fun! Blueberry is adorable and the humans were fun, too. ;)
And Emily, just wanted to say I love your hair style. I'm gonna have to try that one out.
Tapir was my first thought too. Manatees are awesome!
Such a nice talk with skulls.
Awww so cute! Always want to see one in natural environment but no chance yet
I just love Emily.

In humans, the mandible fuses pretty early, so we tend to think of it as one bone, but this is not generally true of mammals.
anyone ever see a baby aardvark? it is so cute! also, baby aardwolf is just too cute for words.
i love seeing hank with animals omg

the lizard is so chill at the beginning
blueberry is adorable!
Emily Graslie AND SciShow together? TOO AWESOME!
they're found down in melbourne as well, we see them in the summer every now and then :)
Awwwww! Blue-Tongue Skink! I've been wanting one for years, they are one of my fave animals. Must have :O
Love Emily Graslie!
We have a blue tongued skink at my college farm, called Sid of course, and they are the coolest little creatures!
I'm in general not a big fan of reptiles, but this blue-tongued skink was just gorgeous!
i love when hank has to guess the animal.
I used to have a blue tongue lizard and I now own a bearded dragon. Such awesome creatures and my dogs even scared of them!
I once saw these two blue tounged lizards, the male really wanted to mate and the female was like nooooo and walked away... slowly. But the male was really persistant and follwed her for over an hour making noises slowly getting closer until he finally persuaded her. It was hilarious!
Loved this video! The lizard was awesome.
Emily no longer lives in Missoula, she moved to Chigago to work in the field museum :)
that lizard is so cuuuuute!
This episode was adorable:)
blue tongued skinks are so cute! they are chubby little bundles of adorable with tiny legs :) there was a large male skink at the bug/butterfly zoo in the area I live.
Blue tongued skinks are also called blue-tongue lizards. "Skink" is simply the name of the family this specific lizard is a member of.
I love that episode! That's also the first book i read of his
The minute I saw the skull and analyzed its skull. The front was screaming to me Manatee.
I love that shirt, man. Emily's shirt. I guessed anteater for the second scull.
Skinks are a kind of lizard. They're actually the largest family of lizards next to geckos.
if there was a youtube rating that consisted of : number of videos x length of videos x quality of videos, you hank would top that chart in a heart beat.
Awww~ Blueberry is so cute!
I am extremely proud to say I guessed both skulls way before Hank did.
