  • We revisit one of our favourite areas (Budthingeroo Creek in the Kanangra-Boyd NP) with some old friends & new faces but even the easiest of hikes can throw you a curve ball…Don’t think it won’t happen to you.

Hope the recovery is going ok. Well worth having the PLB. It's also a reminder to have private ambulance cover (available as a stand alone policy if you don't have private health insurance which can cover it).

Hi Lawrence, lovely to hear from you & hope you've been well. I keep missing you when we make the club walks & been wanting to do one of your bike rides for ages so maybe after Christmas I'll be right to sign up. We have ambulance cover thank goodness otherwise we would have been out of pocket well over $700, & we never go anywhere with out a PLB. I don't know how some people do & some have paid with their life sadly. So risky. Anyway take care & hope to see you soon.

gosh glad you could get help that quickly. You just made me ring my insurance company to see if I was covered for this kind of thing, so thanks for that! Did you trip over something? I couldn't quite figure out what happened!

Hi Dave, Thanks for the comments. Yes it only took them a couple of hours after we set the beacon off. Was expecting them to take a lot longer. We have ambulance cover which covered the $700+ bill. I simply rolled my ankle on uneven ground walking away from the campfire. You'd think I'd have done a more exciting job of it scrambling over waterfalls haha.

Oh Sonia, babe, that looks nasty! I was just thinking this week that I should email you. Thought you had been a bit quiet. I wish you a speedy recovery.

Thank you Sam for your lovely message. Your always so kind. Yes I've been a bit quiet. Was a bit emotional making the video as it's been such a long time in recovery & touch not being able to any adventures for such a long time. I can't believe it's been 13 weeks since the accident. Almost 3 weeks for them to finally operate due to hospital bed shortages. I was almost at the point of staging a sit in on the main hospital hall with placards & a phone call to the local news grrr. After that, we had to restart the clock & stay off my ankle for another 6 weeks. After that I'm now 4 weeks in to 6 weeks of physio & should be able to ditch my cam boot in a few days which is very exciting. My goal is to complete an easy day walk by the end of October with some luck. Anyway, I see you have another video to enjoy so will head over short & kick back with a glass of wine xxx

Hi Leah, lovely to hear from you & thank you for your lovely comments. How have you been? Well I hope? I'm still doing physio at present but hoping to get the ankle working again on a day hike within the next month & hopefully back to a good overnighter by November. Will find some car camp & boat activities to do in the meantime as I'm suffering withdrawals big time at present haha. Hay we are keen to do another river in the same area maybe after Christmas if you would like to join us? You'd be most welcome xx

Well, at least you didn’t leave in a body bag! Your ankle looked nasty and I hope it mended quickly. Looked like a lovely area nonetheless. Take care

Thanks Alex for your kind support. Yes no body bag haha...that part was said tongue in cheek but always dreaded being one of those hikers that made the news. When I saw all the rescue vehicles arrive (ended up being 7 in total), I was so mortified bringing so much attention to myself but everyone was so amazingly kind & they enjoyed getting out there. I enjoyed your latest video late last night so will pop back & leave a comment tonight.

Oh, almost forgot. Congrats on the 300 subs! Onwards! :)

Haha, thanks Sam, it's a pretty low sub for all the vids but I like it more personal anyway...your even kicking our ass on that front so congrats back at you - your almost up to 400. I've never finished a vid with a subscriber note but been thinking about doing something fun so maybe on the next vid I'll throw something in.
