  • My friends, this video is about the entire weathering process on a WW1 tank. That means outlining tons of rivets, adding chipping effects, rust tones, exhausts, dust, mud, and grime!

The faded vividness of the camo just convinces me further that Night Shift would rock a Warhammer 40k or other sci fi tank

Would be interesting to see something like a rhino modified by him, he's a really skilled painter but I think he's an even more patient modeler, I wonder how he would handle all that beautiful exaggerate detailing he does while working on models

A walker would be interesting to see, like a sentinel or a dread. Also an armour modelers take on power armour would also be interesting.

One of the nice things about armour is that you can build the kit and then spend as much time as you want finishing it. No one sees your car's engine unless the hood is open and no one will see much of your airplane's cockpit with the canopy closed or a pilot filling it. But everything you do to finish a tank is right there for everyone to see.

Washes, pin-washes, and dry-brushing aren't difficult and are very subtle except where you emphasize them. Tell yourself a story like our host, and apply weathering to reflect that on your model.

Cool, really, I really like the chip effect. However, I' not so sure about them actually being there to that extent - the A7V was in service from March to October 1918, ie 7 months, and unless making a model of a tank abandoned way later, I don't know if all those damages would occur, especially not since mixing lead into the paint was a popular method to prolong the life of the paint, and they painted THICC layers. When looking at images of the real thing (especially old photos like from WWI), it's very easy to mistake dirt and grime for wear and tear.
That said, the technizues are great and the result fantastic from an artistic point of view, really.
