I wouldn't say it is overdone and too strong; you can make up for an evening, for the camera and also for daylight; all of them would be made with different products, in different colors and so on; the more products you have, more you can actually play with your face, making it look different each time ;) and if someone prefers vintage? I don’t wear makeup either. The most I ever (which is rare) really do is cover up and mascara, but my husband isn’t a fan when I do my makeup. He likes me looking natural. 😇
I don't wear make-up in everyday life either. Maybe 5-10 times per year I'll put some very light foundation, mascara and fill the eyebrows for a party or smth but that's about it.
Make-up is a little time consuming but it is like creating an amazing piece of art in your face! I really like wearing it but I have to take really good care of my skin afterwards.
As a bald girl with no eyebrows or eyelashes, makeup has provided me the option to at least look like I have those two things. So I’m very grateful for that. I’m getting very good at eyeliner too 😂
Well, it just so happens that your face shape does not need any adjustments via contouring, so in fact there IS no reason for you to wear it. Tbh tho this definitely doesn't stop a lot of girls nowadays I guess... But let's get one thing straight: you definitely DON'T look "like a creepy doll" with your lower lashes painted. It just accentuates how beautifully big your eyes are. I really enjoyed this video. It goes to show how perceptions change. I loved what you said about wanting to get back to your "normal" clothes and style, and feeling in a modern look as if you were in costume! It's not only about what one's used to, it's about what one feels good in, too.
I think it's that her face is already angular, so contouring in almost the opposite configuration is what a pro would likely do to create a soft modern look. That's why Instagram makeup isn't one size fits all. Lol she did a really good job for a beginner in this style though.
"it just accentuates how beautifully big your eyes are" -- NO. Today makeup artists, mass media and etc tells us that modern makeup just accentuates your own beauty, and tons of people believe it, but let's be honest: it doesn't. The modern makeup is about making your face look different from what it really looks like. If you have deep eyes, paint eyelids white to make them look closer (sorry for my English, can't find the right word for what I mean even in my language, closer to, like, surface, not to each other), if your face shape is anything but oval, you must coutour it to make it as close to oval as possible. If your cheekbones are not too defined, make them look so. If your lips are... oh, no matter what your lips are, always make them look bigger. At least just a little bigger, if they are naturally big already. Same for eyes. Today it's not okay to have small eyes, but no one calls the eyes small, they just say "the makeup can help to accentuate how beautifully big your eyes are" -- and make your eyes twice bigger. But it works the same with the naturally big eyes, they always make them even bigger.
Mary S agree. Her opened opened up instantly. She had more shade and light as they say and her face showed depth somehow. She’s cute in the vintage look, but it doesn’t accentuate her amazing jawline etc.
I never wear make-up and never realized how much people would put on their face. Thinking of which, none of my friends do so much either, the most is some lipstick and a bit of mascara. I feel like that's more accurate to current society and fits with the easy effortless approach seen in styling overall. Maybe. I dunno. I'm not even interested in style.
Well, it depends on your cultural background as well how many makeup women use and how eager they are to choose more beautiful clothes than practical ones.
That was a wild ride. Loved what you said about vintage hair, that it's not supposed to be easy.. thats my new mantra from now on whenever Im curling my hair and its taking forever.
As a theater kid, I used contouring but it seems extra to use it in everyday make up. So much of new make up is just what professionals have been using for a while and is now available to the general public.
Eyebrows first? I'll tell ya. Modern makeup takes a lot of a style cues and technique from drag makeup as a whole. Contouring and heavy concealing is from stage/beauty makeup (AKA, drag). So, the process goes like this: Eyebrows make the face symmetrical, so you want to do these first so that you get them even and "perfect" before moving on, in case you need to wipe them away. If you do your "precise" things first, then you have opportunities to correct before you put more on. So, you do your eyebrows, clean the edges with concealer to make them sharper, then blend out. Your foundation shouldn't have to get too close to your brows at all, because you blend those colors together. Then eyes, then the rest. Trust, that's the most painless way to do a drag face.
I never liked or understood why make the eyebrows look sharper. It makes your face look older and it just looks more fake. And that is AMERICAN makeup, not worldwide rule. She's not doing it wrong, on the contrary it looks way better than those fat dark worms american women draw on their faces.
The funny thing is that your modern makeup look looks a lot like what some people would deem a vintage or vintage-inspired look just because of the eyeliner and reddish lip.
8:40 I actually think that people will apply their make up with their fingers in the future too. MILK make up is on the leading way for that effortless minimalistic New York busy girl style and I think that'll become popular
I loved the part where you said you don't leave the house without your lipstick on or your hair curled because that is exactly what my Grandma would say.
I'm only 5 min in and I can't stop laughing. I love your humor! :D Edit: Finished watching and I'm just stunned by how gorgeous you are! Vintage: Adorable/quirky beautiful. Modern: Sexy and stunning. Without any makeup: Naturally gorgeous. (I'm sure the modern makeup looked weird to you, but to us it's great because you're on camera so it's like stage makeup. That's the thing, modern women do makeup for camera and photos rather than real life.)
I laughed so hard I cried. Your “modern” makeup is scary, but not a caricature, most UA-camrs do all that and a lot more - face shaving, glimmers and glows, multiple liners inside and outside lashline, quadruple fake lashes. The latest is contouring makeup on the body, painted six packs, etc.!
yeah, contouring is definitely tricky, and i feel like if i weren’t an art student who draws lights and shadows of objects every day i probably would have been lost. the trick is to find the indent at the bottom of your cheeks (NOT the hollows when you suck in, because that’s lower than your actual cheeks and is really part of the jaw) then, when you find the spot, place your line of darker product so that the bottom of the line is on the correct spot, and the top of the line reaches above it. this is because you are going to blend upwards, creating a shadow on the curve of your cheeks so that they look full. if you go below that, it might look like you’re starving. if you want to make the contour look sharp, go right underneath the line with a lighter product and blend down to the jawline. of course, all of this is pretty subjective (you’ll notice that this is just for cheeks, and not chins or noses or forheads since everyone has a different face shape). also, i rarely use thick concealers for contouring (except for the undereye highlight), and prefer to use lighter and darker foundations. i really like the anastasia stick foundations since theyre easy to blend on top of my normal liquid foundation
as someone who's almost kinda good at makeup (and does winged eyeliner everyday, haha), I was watching this video like "HONEY NO", but at the end, you actually did a pretty good job, considering you don't usually do makeup in this style
It's kinda funny how she looks way better than beauty gurus and they do modern makeup as their job. Maybe you were "honey no" because she didn't put on ton of every product and it still looks like her? :)

Hearing you speak about modern makeup makes me think that you are legit from the 1900 and trying to fit in with current times!😂
“Why would you have holes in your arms?”
FINALY SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS NSJSMZMSJDKSJSHJS
its CUTE
I personally love cold shoulder tops because I can show my shoulders without showing my armpits...
YES cold shoulder tops are a no-go for me, they don’t look good on me and they just look awkward
I like showing my shoulders while kinda covering up the chonky parts of my arms
My shoulders are pointy lol
Your modern hair/makeup looks like what most UA-camrs end up with when they do a 'vintage' look
You’re right, but this video was made three years ago when contouring your full face was much more popular.
In my country women cake their face with foundation or go bare faced, there is no inbetween
You look great in both styles. Tho imo you don't need the contouring because your face is already very slim.
Tutorial: "hey guys-"
Meme Mother: "Shut uup."
That was a wild ride. Loved what you said about vintage hair, that it's not supposed to be easy.. thats my new mantra from now on whenever Im curling my hair and its taking forever.
2:50 omg she looks like an adult version of millie bobby brown
lol I was searching for this comment
You have really nice cheekbones and face structure. You don't need contouring at all. Lipstick is nice
i thought she always had light contour on
GIMME CHEEKBONES LIKE THOSE PLS OHMYGOD
This moment when you put on modern clothes and try to look modern, but you still look vintage. Whatever you do...
As a theater kid, I used contouring but it seems extra to use it in everyday make up. So much of new make up is just what professionals have been using for a while and is now available to the general public.
When you say "Hello my meme children"
It gives me a fuzzy feeling that makes me very happy.
*My heart likes that*

Also, they overdrew their lips in the 50's. You should know that though.
I love that people today learn about the influence of drag on modern makeup! Thank you for putting it in words.
Eyebrows are always the last thing I do while putting makeup so it depends of the person.
@@Manthisucks101 yes they do because I've often wondered why they do that. Now I know
I never liked or understood why make the eyebrows look sharper. It makes your face look older and it just looks more fake.
And that is AMERICAN makeup, not worldwide rule. She's not doing it wrong, on the contrary it looks way better than those fat dark worms american women draw on their faces.
'I am basically boyfriend level' WHY DO YOU GOTTA BE SO RELATABLE?!
YOUR CAT IS EVERYTHING BEAUTIFUL
The funny thing is that your modern makeup look looks a lot like what some people would deem a vintage or vintage-inspired look just because of the eyeliner and reddish lip.
Oh my gawd meme mom! You look stunning in all three looks: vintage, natural, and modern. And you have the prettiest eyes ever. This was cool to see.
5:59 teach me your *whales*
I love that you had to look up the word "conduct"!
It's so relatable as a second-language speaker of English!
Person A: she's hotter with vintage makeup
Person B: no, she's hotter with modern makeup
Me: 2:50
Me: 4:02
Both.
Yes, she is soo very pretty without makeup!
most relatable makeup tutorial ever tbh, 11/10
I like both looks but I am disappointed that you miss the opportunity to call the Video:
from Kennedy to Kardashian
:)
Bubble jellyfish kennedy was from the 60’s, her thing is abt 40’s
Karolina to Kardashian?
Karolina you seemed so stressed out during this video but honestly you look gorgeous both ways 💖
You actually look like a mix of Shae and Melisandre from Game of Thrones ! That's awesome !
That lip colour is gorgeous. It was really nice to hear her say how it's not her and hear how much love she had for her authentic self ❤️
THE CLOWN CIRCUS MUSIC IN THE BACKGROUND IS SENDING MEEEEE IM ON THE FLOORRRR🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You look like a supermodel! Wth! Just need some blending practice. But you should do what makes you feel good :)
Personally I like all the makeup steps. When I have an anxiety attack doing my makeup with all the steps and processes are really calming
I'd say it's calming if I have enough time to do it, in the morning it's a pain in the ass lol.
She looks like a 1970s cher for some reason
Anonymous 1 I think the way she did her hair was really 70s.
It's the middle part. Casual or glam hair was often middle-parted.
Okay, I know that this came out a while ago, but tucking in shirts is in fashion
I would like to know which lipstick have you used because the colour is so gorgeous. Btw interesting time traveling : )
I'm wanting to know this too!
Same
Still waiting for the answer in 2020 lol.
I NEED TO KNOW, I'm obsessed with the color😍
It looks like MAC Diva or Sin. It is surely Mac :) gorgeous!
8:40 I actually think that people will apply their make up with their fingers in the future too. MILK make up is on the leading way for that effortless minimalistic New York busy girl style and I think that'll become popular
Fcku Tortilla It’s minimalistic yet overpriced. That’s why I love elf for that same aesthetic.
Also Glossier is the same chic minimalist style... I agree with you.
I don't remember how I even found this channel but I'm so glad I did
I loved the part where you said you don't leave the house without your lipstick on or your hair curled because that is exactly what my Grandma would say.
I think you could fix the “creepy doll” thing with some black eyeliner pencil on your waterline.
I'm only 5 min in and I can't stop laughing. I love your humor! :D
Edit: Finished watching and I'm just stunned by how gorgeous you are!
Hello this is exactly what i was going to comment but you said it better. Also cheers to watching Karolina videos like a year late! *high five*
Wetting your sponge slightly before applying foundation will minimize the amount of makeup that gets absorbed
OMG you look like an older version of milly bobby brown from stranger things
How? I don't see it. They have such different face shapes.
Oh wow I see it
oh my God yes
Cannot unsee
Millie*
Im getting a twilight vibe from your modern look lol
Katherine Sillaman really?
Okay but the modern lipstick looks LIT, it looks so awesome!
"I wish that one day there will be a finger revolution and that's how you apply your makeup" *It has already happened my dear, it has arrived*
Do you ever do 1920s clothes/makeup, if not could you please do a video trying 1920s makeup or something like that?
Phena Poo oooh yes. It'll be simplistic just to get a nice wig or some Bobby pins.
She does have a 20s video it's not exactly a tutorial but more of tips to get the real 20s look. 😊
That moment when you know more about 40's fashion than 2019's fashion. LOL
You are actually freacking pretty both ways
This background music is heckin precious.
You have very unique features and I adore them.
yeah, contouring is definitely tricky, and i feel like if i weren’t an art student who draws lights and shadows of objects every day i probably would have been lost.
the trick is to find the indent at the bottom of your cheeks (NOT the hollows when you suck in, because that’s lower than your actual cheeks and is really part of the jaw)
then, when you find the spot, place your line of darker product so that the bottom of the line is on the correct spot, and the top of the line reaches above it. this is because you are going to blend upwards, creating a shadow on the curve of your cheeks so that they look full. if you go below that, it might look like you’re starving.
if you want to make the contour look sharp, go right underneath the line with a lighter product and blend down to the jawline.
of course, all of this is pretty subjective (you’ll notice that this is just for cheeks, and not chins or noses or forheads since everyone has a different face shape). also, i rarely use thick concealers for contouring (except for the undereye highlight), and prefer to use lighter and darker foundations. i really like the anastasia stick foundations since theyre easy to blend on top of my normal liquid foundation
I know you don't dig the modetn look, but GURL you look stu-nning! 😍
you did such a good job at capturing the "modern look"! I love how you were just hating every step of the way :D
In conclusion youre timeless? Really out here looking beautiful in every era
I think you look gorgeous both ways! The modern is stunning too!
Confirmed. I am the modern day version of you.
Omg r u sisters?
Ooohhh
as someone who's almost kinda good at makeup (and does winged eyeliner everyday, haha), I was watching this video like "HONEY NO", but at the end, you actually did a pretty good job, considering you don't usually do makeup in this style
Babett Mezőfi I felt the same way about the curls, I do waves with my curling iron every day and it take me about 10 minutes lol
It's kinda funny how she looks way better than beauty gurus and they do modern makeup as their job.
Maybe you were "honey no" because she didn't put on ton of every product and it still looks like her? :)
"back when I was modern" -- I love this entire sentence. Hurrah for time traveling vintage humans from the...future-past..future. Yay!
If there's gonna be a movie about time traveler from 20th century that gets into 21st century, you have to play the main role.
