- I walk from downtown Tijuana to the San Ysidro border. I go all the way from Centro de Tijuana through Calle Primera then over the bridge that passes by the canal. I keep walking all the way to the border crossing.

Me too. We use to rent a motel on the US side and walk across. The thing I learned was to leave the boys at home. Every time I went down there and guys were in the group, they got in trouble.

When the crossing into Mexico was at Ped West the Plaza was much busier. There is no risk at any hour walking through the old Plaza. It is sad the Plaza is dying now.
15-20 years ago American tourists would do this walk from the border to Revolucion regularly. There used to be vendors and shops all up and down there. Now it looks kind of dead.
Im not sure if it was really early or a mexican holiday but the stores do open for tourist, although theyre is much less tourist walking then before
What happened is that before the entrance into Mexico use to go directly into that plaza but they closed that entrance
That is true, now when I walk into TJ it winds up on the East side of the border... its quite far to get to this spot from there plus you have to walk thru the border cars. Its just easier to take a Taxi now to Zona Centro.
I walk the same way to the border. I just came back from Tijuana. Love Tijuana.

I'd avoid handing out money like that for no reason at all. Human beings still need to live in reality and not be given some absurd amount of money for being on the street begging. Being generous around holiday season is not bad. Otherwise I' think people should primarily help people out with food & drinks.
18 years ago that area was packed with vendors, taco stands , bars and people. Like really busy.

I live in Tijuana and I feel safer here than in San Diego. The people are more genuine and more friendly. In my neighborhood they speak with you and try to make you feel part of the community. If you are not into illegal shenanigans you will have no problems beware of the police they will take your money.
How long have you been living there & which part do you live in?

I live a little south of TJ. I walked across and took the rail to San Diego last month. I feel much safer in TJ.

Did that exact same walk last week from the San Ysidro POE to the arch and back although both ways in daylight. Wasn’t risky at all. Felt safer than walking through much of Downtown LA.

I don't know why you talk like this. You have to watch, everywhere you go. Regardless of Tijuana. If you look fearful all of the time, then you will be a target. I have had no issues for over 2 years now, living on the outskirts of Tijuana

That walk is not risky. Although I have walked it many times in the darkness of night and I have to say a prayer.
You're a brave man. Apart from getting attacked there (3:30), I have heard some really ugly stories from things that happened on that bridge & have seen actual blood spilled on it many mornings. I've walked through it at night a few times solo and once was threatened by a stranger with violence.

During the day you are most likely gonna be fine walking anywhere especially if you don't draw no attention. At night not a lot of people are out so all eyes are on you

Must have been filmed at 7am on Sunday morning. All the areas you went through are hoppin in the afternoon and evening. You can find way more desperate people in downtown San Diego.

I would be very careful going across that bridge. People have been robbed on many occasions at the walkaround at the end of the bridge.

Walking into Mexico and to the shuttle/limo that will take me to Zona Norte is that walk down the ramp safe at 10pm during the week? If not is there an alternate entry such as Uber from the US direct to the location I’m going to in Zona Norte?
That ramp leaving Mexican customs into Tijuana is 100% safe. No need to take an Uber or service that will cross you from the US.
My family and I used to frequent this place when I was 13 years old, I haven't been there in years, I'm 17 now

It could be bad at night but in the day you’re good. A lot of ppl from Tijuana cross over everyday to work in San Diego, even some kids go to school out there
I believe you forgot to show PedWest which is now open (limited hours). Nice alternative if you don't want to wait on the super long lines at PedEste!
It's sad to see the pathway back is so deserted. It used to be so vibrant and fun. Most US citizens don't realize Tj has so much to offer and it's not as scary as people think.
I just did it few weeks ago and felt not as dangerous as I thought. Maybe because it was day time. It's not recommended to walk there after sunset, I suppose?

If youre scared of an old lady you might want to avoid barrio logan in san diego lots of transients, dont exaggerate the safety of that walk just be logical dont walk down an empty alley at night or early early in the morning just like you would any place man, practice safety and common sense and you will be totally fine. stay within the main tourist strip in tj and dont take taxis taxis are common scammers youre better off using uber and obviously dont follow strangers to places you dont know
I do this trip every weekend, and go all the way down to Ensenada and Valle de Guadalupe

Hey Andrew, new subscriber here. Really like your on the street videos like this one. Do you have video on Playas de Tijuana? I've been to the border fence on the San Diego side, but I want to go to the Mexico side of the fence by the beach, it looks very interesting.

How long did it take you to get to the San Diego side of the beach border fence? I've never been and am interested actually.
@@andrewcx I went to the San Diego border side about 2.5 years ago, it is called the "Friendship Park" or "Border Field State Park", but I think it is temporary closed so I don't know how close you can get to the border fence nowadays. Look it up online, it is very interesting, heavily guarded and they have a visitor area opens a few hours on weekends that the border patrols allow visitors on San Diego side to get right next to the fence and talk to people on the TJ side. They limited number of people in this visitors area, and patrol guards and SUVs are everywhere. Hopefully U.S. patrol open the Park up soon, it is a very interesting area to visit.

I want to go down there to eat since Mexico is cheaper than USA. Any restaurants you recommend? Seafood, and traditional Mexican food places.
Way too many to name man - look up 'Tacos de Birria de Rio' & 'Mariscos Hidalgo' - both located around the same block.
Its not cheaper in Tijuana in all cases for food. For instance a Starbucks iced latte is 20 ounces i. Usa for 6 bucks. A iced latte at barristi on revolution is 4.60 but smaller.... in usa restaurants its usually free refills. I drink 3 soda cans worth soda in usa in mexixo I have to buy soda. In usa alot places have specials deals, apps, reward points, in mexixo not so much. For instance I eat cheaper at chiles in usa than tijuana
