This was helpful. I tend to wait too long before eating and that makes for eating more and being cranky. And I'm newly diabetic, was told try not to run on empty... recognize when I'm hungry...and I had no idea how to do that.

Thank you so much! This was very helpful. It can be so confusing sometimes. I used to be ‘hangry’ all the time, after a while I realized it was because of hunger! Sometimes I still feel confused, because after eating a carb heavy meal I get very very tired, which sometimes makes me want to eat more, which doesn’t help. 😅 Anyway, thank you, I will take notes for future reference, so I can honor my hunger in better ways.
I'm so glad to hear that it felt helpful! Yes it can be hard to consistently honor our hunger after being told to ignore it throughout our life. Sounds like you are doing well at getting curious and experimenting.
Nice. I like how you address the audience. It's to the point and friendly enough. I want to eat whenever meal time rolls around, but sometimes I don't want to eat. I eat anyways because it seems the right thing to do, but I just feel like I over eat. I know the hunger isn't always something you feel in your stomach, and relating to your diet and how you eat also affects your mental status. It sounds like a common knowledge thing, but in reality it isn't and it's different for everyone. I notice that whenever I eat it's because someone else also wants to eat, or the smell arouses my senses and I just have the urge to eat. I'm not however, really that hungry. Thanks.

I think you are right that honoring hunger can be really tricky as there are many things that can disconnect us from it overtime, not to mention that we are often taught to not honor our hunger. Hello! i find it really hard to know when im hungry, even doing ramadan, just an hour or half hour before i am gonna eat, i dont rea;;y feel "hungry" just tired, like i always am. Even after not eating nor drinking the whole day. Im also a bit consious about my weight right now, so even if im really hungry, i dont allow myself to eat, since i would feel guilty about literally eating my second meal in the day. And im overweight less than a kilo.
I think it necessary to first determine those substances that properly address the needs of the organism and to which the organism is adapted before the issue of true hunger can be identified.
Two precursor questions arise:
1. Are humans herbivorous, carnivorous or omnivorous?
2. Are the articles of diet natural or artificial?
Since it is so easy and so common to create false hunger by consuming things like alcohol and nicotine the need to create a basic philosophy of nutrition is needed before one can question true hunger.
The drop in blood sugar seems to be true for those whose body is using glucose for fuel. Those who are fat adapted and eating high fat, zero carb, I don’t think this applies.
I identify as full when in reality i am deadly hungry.
I will try to notice it more. I would like to eat before I feel weak and fatigue because recovering can be harder, sometimes.
My stomach may feel discomfort for a minute or so within a hour or two of being awake. I sometimes won't eat until 3 to 5 pm. If I eat early enough, I will try to eat by 6 or 7 pm just so I had a 2nd meal
I do eat when I feel weak and fatigue!! By that time, I am too late!

Yes eating before you get to the point of feeling weak and dizzy is important and I know that it can be challenging considering all the messages we are sent about eating. I am going to be making lots more content in the New Year and I was wondering, what kinds of content would you like to see here?
@@KatherineMetzelaar How about when we should eat or when is the best times to eat. I had to rush to cook a meal because I was getting weak. It was between 2 and 3 pm when I had to rush and cook my first meal today!

I'm glad that the video was able to offer a different perspective. I would say that it's less about mind over body but rather learning how to tune into your body consistently so that you can being to understand some of the nuances of hunger vs. other sensations/feelings. Would it be helpful if I did another video on this explaining it more?

i have a question...Im thirsty after every 10-20 mins when i drink water..i know that im hydrated as my urine color is always white but i still feel very thirsty(symptoms dry throat and ichy feeling in my throat)so is it all ok if i feel thirsty so soon and i urinate in short times too

For me it is very difficult because my gastritis and acidy can make me feel like that when i just ate.
That makes a lot of sense. It sounds like it interferes with your hunger cues and I know that can feel really frustrating!

Is there a reason why I get really stressed out when I have to eat and have a panic attack and then I don’t want to eat but then when I choose what I want I’m not stressed but when I do do pick something I want something else-
Panic, stress and anxiety are all common causes of blunting hunger because your body doesn't know that you're ok. Sounds like there might be an element of control when you're choosing your food that feels helpful in decreasing the panic feeling.
I feel hungry after intermittent fasting but I see my boyfriend do this but he eats alot I cannot but I feel like my body is trying to hurt my success
Your body is doing exactly what it’s supposed to do, being hungry is a sign that a body needs more food. Intermittent fasting is not sustainable.
Um intermittent fasting is absolutely sustainable for some people. Bodies were not meant to be constantly digesting food.
