For the same reason a doctor performs a colonoscopy or a gynecologist performs a wellness check. Vets use that technique because it is fast accurate and effective. I have been raised around large animals my whole life, and I know several vets. And they all do it that way because ultrasounds are not always the easiest to take with you on farm calls. A vet's hands are their eyes, and they see all sorts of issues with their hands that theirs eyes could never see. Xrays for large animals generally only exist at universities. So in order to diagnose or pregnancy check they go through the rectum.

I am against giving animals the right to murder but not be murdered. That would mean that if I were surfing and a shark started on me, I would have to question throwing punches in case I killed it. Also, if I had an AK-47 while on safari and a lion approached aggressively I would have to consider spraying multiple rounds in case I killed it. Veganism, if predominant, will lead humans down a very dark road.

Respect for getting onto this kind of platform. My only request would be to change your response on these two common points: 'We have canines' - perhaps mention that our canines aren't actually suitable for tearing raw meat off bones, nor our nails for disembowelling prey. The teeth we do have are just about up to the task of biting into raw fruit and vegetables. Maybe bring into the argument the comparison between canines in primates and those in genuine carnivores. 'Animals kill each other in the wild' - a stronger answer might mention the fact that 'the wild' is a self-balancing ecosystem where predator and prey exist to the extent that they can support each other. On the contrary, animal farming is an entirely artificial practice of creation and death, conducted according to our own particular set of predetermined beliefs and, importantly, often at odds with and to the detriment of the natural environment. Teen Camera, firstly I am a beef farmer myself so I think I would know. When they enter the slaughterhouse everything is very clean, they are then stunned in the head and feel no pain. Then as the are unconscious with no pain and there throth on their neck is slit. They are then brought down and butchered. The animal would have never felt pain or have been stressed.

Firstly every dairy farmer I know has there cows get pregnant by there bull naturally, every farmer in my country has there cows and heifers gotten in calf naturally by sex from a bull. Secondly, calves are not taken away from there mother immediately, the calf must stay with the mother for many days, during the calves milk time there mother is brought back to feed the calf. After some weeks calves are let outside into the fields with other calves and the farmer can choose to have the mother with them in the field and with suckler farming calves are with there mother’s for all there lives.

well if you're talking about their livelihood it'll probably be a discussion of economics. My semi-educated guess (Animal Husbandry student) would be that it's already in place for a lot of farmers since many already grow plants on the side as is. All it would take is some lessons in growing for human consumption and some fallback money/incentives for deconstructing/destroying their stables (we can take the subsidiaries and re-purpose them for that for example). Very few farmers actually "need" to farm animals so expect some of the worst argumentation from those who still choose to do so because chances are it actually is because of family tradition or something pathetic like that.

Human canine teeth have not developed to eat meat. Most mammals have canine teeth, no matter what they eat. The largest canines on Earth belong to the completely herbivorous hippopotamus. Our canines and overall mouth structure in no way resemble that of true carnivores or omnivores.

Yes I do, we are not herbivores, we are also not carnivores. I require no supplementation other than B12 which is an environmental deficiency due to soil degregation. We are fruigivores with omnivorous tendencies with adaptations for starch and we can scavenge meat and used to hunt out of necessity. By mere fact that we have this omnivorous adaptation means that we can indeed eat anything we choose, it has been proven meany times that a well balanced vegan diet is adiquite in meeting all of our dietary needs and it is not necessary to ingest any animal products whatsoever. It has also been proven that we can convert K2 in our bodies, just like the cows do in theirs, the same with vitamin A and cholesterol.
Chloe Donnelly eat a diet of mainly fruit and you will be more likely to get diabetes. If you're doing it out of guilt for animals that is different than doing it for your best performance. Personally I prefer not having insulin damage my organs every time I get hungry but to each is own. If you go back in time to an age predating modern crops it is logical to extrapolate that we ate mostly meat for the majority of our last 200k years of evolution.

A vegan diet is much healthier than an omnivore diet and the not found nutrient is only B12.. And B12 comes original not from the animals, it comes from microorganism on evry plant on the ground. B12 is mostly supplemented to the animals with enriched food. And btw: You kill more plants with a meat based diet.. the livestock eats a lot of plants, have you researched that? So this isn't a real argument at all, even when the plants feel much more pain than animals (whats impossible, they have no brain and its unlogic at all.. they cant run away, so its not necessary to feel pain..) is a plant based diet more painless. I have been raised around large animals my whole life, and I know several vets. And they all do it that way because ultrasounds are not always the easiest to take with you on farm calls. A vet's hands are their eyes, and they see all sorts of issues with their hands that theirs eyes could never see. Xrays for large animals generally only exist at universities. So in order to diagnose or pregnancy check they go through the rectum.

Teen Camera, firstly I am a beef farmer myself so I think I would know. When they enter the slaughterhouse everything is very clean, they are then stunned in the head and feel no pain. Then as the are unconscious with no pain and there throth on their neck is slit. They are then brought down and butchered. The animal would have never felt pain or have been stressed.

well if you're talking about their livelihood it'll probably be a discussion of economics. My semi-educated guess (Animal Husbandry student) would be that it's already in place for a lot of farmers since many already grow plants on the side as is.
All it would take is some lessons in growing for human consumption and some fallback money/incentives for deconstructing/destroying their stables (we can take the subsidiaries and re-purpose them for that for example).
Very few farmers actually "need" to farm animals so expect some of the worst argumentation from those who still choose to do so because chances are it actually is because of family tradition or something pathetic like that.

It has also been proven that we can convert K2 in our bodies, just like the cows do in theirs, the same with vitamin A and cholesterol.

Personally I prefer not having insulin damage my organs every time I get hungry but to each is own. If you go back in time to an age predating modern crops it is logical to extrapolate that we ate mostly meat for the majority of our last 200k years of evolution.

It's totally moral for a person to kill an animal for food, or dead threatening situations. The thing that is not moral is to kill an animal for fun.
This is amazing, it's heartbreaking that there are humans who at this moment in time don't have the mental capacity to come to terms with the truth of it all, too selfishly concerned about their taste buds and how they may suffer if they don't unnecessarily eat a murdered animal, or drink raped cows milk ect ect. It’s so exhausting trying to encourage people to be more compassionate and stop the supply and demand of meat, dairy and eggs when there are so many protein/calcium packed plant based foods without the cruelty or slaughter of billions of animals and just as tasty.

That's not really in the spirit of good debate. I want to know your automatic response to the fact that when you drive your car, you kill insects that didn't want or need to die, for you convenience of getting from A to B. You make a choice that costs the lives of 'innocent' living things. Also I doubt very much that you scrape them off the windscreen and eat them, you have an alternative choice to walk but are you going to stop driving....as you expect meat eaters, to stop eating meat because we kill animals and make the alternative choice to eat veg. You cannot say that driving is essential. (I drive by the way too). This is really a point about how we as a species do many things that kill other living things. But would you change if an insect enthusiast started demanding you stop driving.
