Light was not used to losing so he never expected to lose. After all he had an otherworldly notebook that was able to kill someone just by writing their name while having their face in his mind. To Light this was more than enough reason to make rash decisions. In his mind he wanted to make some rash decisions anyway in order to be known as a "god".

No. 2: Lotton the Wizard wears a bulletproof vest to a gunfight involving Revy; Black Lagoon. Out of dozens of bounty hunters there, dude's the only one to walk away thanks to that move. Either that or wearing a cup while fighting Roberta. Granted, fighting Roberta is suicide, but that cup ensured he'd have kids later on.

No, that was intentional. If L didn't reveal his reasoning, then Light wouldn't do anything to draw attention to himself. The fact that Light now knows someone is hot on his heels would spur him to do something that would catch L's attention. Especially after the fact that Light's outburst in killing fake L shows to the real L insights into how Light thinks.

Right, but there was absolutely no reason for Light to kill Lind L. Taylor. Regardless of what hind sight tells you, Lind L. Taylor was only guilty of provoking Light. He wasn't a criminal that Light would have known to kill, he also wasn't directly getting in the way of Light's killings. The only reason why Light killed him was because he let himself get provoked and he wanted to show the world his power.

Just going to throw in my two cents here. I think that Light is decision was bad but not because he killed Taylor; from his point of view he is 'Justice' (he even says so at the end of the chapter) so, by defintion, anyone who opposes him is evil and at the moment Taylor called himself L and said he was going after Kira. From Light's point of view that is more than enough reason to kill him. However, he should have waited or make him die by a car crash or something instead of falling for a simple provocation and immeidately kill him; no one knew that he can kill in other ways aside from a heart attack at the moment so it would have been untraceable (albeit, the real L might have made the connection but Light couldn't have known that Taylor was a fake L). Instead he goes 'this guy says I'm evil, I'm going to kill him with my magical notebook to teach him a lesson' and the rest is history. This is just my opinion, though.

That's not what made the fight so dumb. The dumb part was that Bakugo has been seen using his quirk to propell him in the air. she basically spent the fight trying to get Bakugo to fly.
Personally, I'd say a bigger mistake would be not expecting his trigger-happy fanboy to go off-script and reveal who the Third Kira was. An easy way out of that would be to have a fail-safe in place- a simple phrase for Light to work into conversation, to let Mr Delete know Near may have tampered with his Death Note and add Light's name too. Near's only concrete bit of evidence was the fact that Light's name was the ONLY name not written down. Had Light factored in the possibility of Near catching on to the Third Kira, he could have taken that evidence away by having his name written down too. Or maybe make use of his followers and have them bomb Near's HQ when they stormed it- that would have also worked.

I would argue for Light that an even dumber decision he's made was killing Ray Penber. He was an agent for the *FBI* for God's sake. To this day, I still find that the most idiotic move Light has made. One does not simply kill an FBI agent and believe they can get away with it, even getting the other agents' names. Like that not going to throw the detectives and the Japanese task force off and immediately point fingers to Kira.

If Light hadn’t let his ego get the better of him, finding him would’ve been MUCH more difficult for L.

Lelouch using "if I told you to kill all the Japanese" as a command example when talking to Euphemia is by far one of the stupidest things I've seen in anime. Considering the fact C2 told him geass goes out of control the more you use. I'm sure he didn't think it would happen, but it's a poor choice of words, when you could have said a magnitude of other things.
I can't really blame Lelouch too much for that, because his Geass going out of control just... kind of happened, and it didn't make itself apparent until the last minute when Lelouch found out what happened. Don't get me wrong, Lelouch has done some pretty dumb things, but I don't that right there constitutes as one of them since that was mostly outside his overall power.

Light's decision wasn't stupid. Light's goal was to kill L, his greatest obstacle and in order to do that, he had to get closer to him and this decision provided that. After all, his plan really did succeed.
Reiner told Eren that in the belief that Eren would join their side and cause due to him being a fellow titan shifter. It back fired at Reiner because Eren firmly stated that he would consider them his enemies as Eren is affiliated with Paradis. This forced both Reiner and Bertholt to reveal their identities in front of the entire servery corps. So yeah it was a bad decision on Reiners part as this reveal lead to their downfall by giving the humans of Paradis answers as to who their true foes were.
I would defend Light a little bit... I wouldn’t call it a dumb decision. It’s more like a careless one. That was Light’s first time knowing about L, and he thought L is just your average detective. So from his perspective, killing the detective with your one-hit-kill, undetectable notebook DOES seem like a smart idea since it kills off any potential investigators and sends the world a chilling message not to mess you....however, L is just way smarter than the average detective, and after falling for his trap Light learned not to underestimate L. So it’s not a dumb decision, it’s just him underestimating his opponent.
The dumbest decision was Light not having Mikami tear out a page or two out of the Death Note. He was too arrogant to consider that the real Death Note could be replaced with a fake, and that's why he failed. He wasn't prepared for the unexpected.

I would argue for Light that an even dumber decision he's made was killing Ray Penber. He was an agent for the *FBI* for God's sake. To this day, I still find that the most idiotic move Light has made. One does not simply kill an FBI agent and believe they can get away with it, even getting the other agents' names. Like that not going to throw the detectives and the Japanese task force off and immediately point fingers to Kira.

If Light hadn’t let his ego get the better of him, finding him would’ve been MUCH more difficult for L.

Lelouch using "if I told you to kill all the Japanese" as a command example when talking to Euphemia is by far one of the stupidest things I've seen in anime. Considering the fact C2 told him geass goes out of control the more you use. I'm sure he didn't think it would happen, but it's a poor choice of words, when you could have said a magnitude of other things.
I can't really blame Lelouch too much for that, because his Geass going out of control just... kind of happened, and it didn't make itself apparent until the last minute when Lelouch found out what happened.
Don't get me wrong, Lelouch has done some pretty dumb things, but I don't that right there constitutes as one of them since that was mostly outside his overall power.

Light's decision wasn't stupid. Light's goal was to kill L, his greatest obstacle and in order to do that, he had to get closer to him and this decision provided that. After all, his plan really did succeed.

So yeah it was a bad decision on Reiners part as this reveal lead to their downfall by giving the humans of Paradis answers as to who their true foes were.

I wouldn’t call it a dumb decision. It’s more like a careless one. That was Light’s first time knowing about L, and he thought L is just your average detective. So from his perspective, killing the detective with your one-hit-kill, undetectable notebook DOES seem like a smart idea since it kills off any potential investigators and sends the world a chilling message not to mess you....however, L is just way smarter than the average detective, and after falling for his trap Light learned not to underestimate L.
So it’s not a dumb decision, it’s just him underestimating his opponent.

I think that light's action wasn't effect of lack of intelligence or logical thinking, but his pride. At that moment, he believed that he is superior to everyone, he treated all people as inscets.Yet after having beed cold-showered by L's simple trick, Kira awakened his mind, and made himself thinking on different lvl. So imo that scene had its purpose.
