Police officers enjoy a "qualified immunity" to their job, under the understanding that they are in a hazardous profession.... but when they are faced with a choice of engaging in that hazardous professional action that affords them the qualified immunity, they're able to... say that it's not their job? Their embrace Dave Grossman's training which has touched every single aspect of almost every police officers training; they are trained to think they're soldiers, get to choose when they are soldiers, and then do not have to have consequences when they choose not to be, or when they choose to? This is the very definition of being "above the law."

    • @JudgeCrater22
      @JudgeCrater22 2 роки тому

The modern "qualified immunity" that the courts have falsely given police stems from the 1982 Harlow v. Fitzgerald case, a U.S. Supreme Court decision. That decision dealt with a Department of Defense analyst. While common law has always provided police with the option of a "good faith" defense, the Rehnquist Supreme Court started the ball rolling, to give police near absolute immunity from civil and criminal liability. You know, absolute power. Look up "qualified immunity" in Wikipedia before you make up stuff.

Wrong. Gun reform will not end or even restrict gun violence. Gun reform will not fix the minds of all the people that need help.
90 people in the US die every single day in the US from automobile crashes. We don't talk about that, or how unsafe cars are and driving is.
An average of 1,315 people every single day die from smoking, including an average of 123 people a day dying as a result of second hand cigarette smoke exposure. We don't ban cigarettes. We don't talk about this.
About 125 people a day off themselves. One every 11 minutes. We don't talk about this.
Average 188 people a day overdose and die from opioid overdose. Guess they don't matter.
383 people a day from alcohol. No one talks about how booze is literally toxic.
An average of 53 people a day are murdered by firearms. But we only talk about the ones that enforce the narrative the ruling class wants to propagate.
Open your eyes. People die. We need to get our MF priorities straight. Pour all the money wasted by these congressional hearings into mental health treatment and you can make an impact on ALL these deaths.
Please stop being a shill for the ruling class. You think they care about the kids that died in Uvdale? Certainly not, they care about taking the people's guns, much more than they care about saving lives.

Guns have not changed much in decades. A quick search shows the semi-auto rifle was created in 1885. So it isn't the fault of the gun. What has changed in the past 10+ years is the suicide rate among kids, increase in single parent homes, and parents choosing to entertain their kids with electronic devices instead of building real relationships with them. When we stop pointing the blame at inanimate objects and start asking what is causing the mental instability in our youth, we might make some progress to fixing the issue.

Several years ago a school shooting occurred at the high school I attended. Except this shooting was done by the school resource officer (also a local police officer) who shot and killed a deranged man who entered the school, following a student who was late getting there. The school immediately went into lock down and the resource officer confronted the man who was armed with guns and intent on using them, in the hallway. She tried at first to diffuse the situation but when she was unable to do so she shot & killed him before he could endanger anyone else. The school was Sullivan Central High School in Blountville, TN. The officers name is Carolyn Gudger, and in my hometown she is a hero. She is the perfect example of what a school resource officer should be. A courageous woman who did her job, putting her life on the line for the students/faculty she was hired to protect. I was very disappointed that there was not a lot of media attention surrounding this incident, except for locally of course. I just really wanted people to see what a difference having a well trained, courageous police officer who takes their promise to protect and serve seriously on campus can make in these situations

and not give calling cops a single thought till
    after it's over.
Especially since they don't seem to be anything
any way when we do call them.

I called the cops recently on a neighbor screaming obscenities at me. Nothing done. I like your name!😊

It is; peculiar that the more society would like to solve the problem of gun violence; it happens; that the more exclusive the police participation in its expansion becomes a measure of its management; however misguided!
So, take heed when calling the police because not only are they the largest purveyors of gun violence; they walk your streets with the largest of military weapons and vehicles outfitted for military operations; and that is something which make an assault rifle too under prepared!

What if parents stop sending kids to school until something happens! Seriously! I left the US 6 years ago because I was afraid for my childrens safety. Teachers stop teaching do a zoom strike for your own safety.

Sadly, nothing of importance will change. Now people just have to wait 3 more years to get an assault rifle or whatever they're technically called...but only legally. There's plenty of guns on the streets already that these people can get at any age.
