  • In this video Peter and Charlotte go and fish the River Anton at Westover in September and meet up with Gilly Bate. September can be a fabulous month to fish the Chalkstreams as the trout begin to move into the deeper water and the grayling become more active as the temperatures move into Autumn. Peter experiences some fabulous sight fishing with tiny nymphs in skinny water along with some top water action on sedge patterns.

    Really great video... thanks allot for all you do..
    I love ur single nymph straight lining ... was there any indicator involved?
    If not what’s ur secret to strike detection?

      Thanks Stephen! Glad you enjoyed it! No indicators, traditional sight nymphing… watch the fish, looks for movement, flare of the gills or the white of the mouth. Alternatively watch the leader and if it stops or dips, strike. We are lucky as on the Chalkstreams we can normally see the fish to see their reaction….

      Hi TK! Thank for the comment, on the 3# I have been using the Rio Perception 3# which has matched it perfectly for short casts on the rivers…

    Fantastic video Peter. May I ask what your standard leader setup for sight nymphing is?

    • @AardvarkMcLeodFlyFishing
      @AardvarkMcLeodFlyFishing  2 роки тому

      Thanks Tom! My standard set up is a 9’ 6x leader and then 2 -3 feet of tippet on the end depending on what the river and conditions dictate… I keep it pretty simple…

      @@AardvarkMcLeodFlyFishing Thanks for the reply. Do you cut the tippet that comes on the leader off at the end of the mid section and tie your tippet on at that point? Or just leave the leader as is out of the packet and tie tippet of the same or smaller diameter to the end of it?
      I hope that question makes sense!

      Hi Tom, I literally just tie Tippet to the end of the tapered leader….
