As someone who's been obsessed with Hollow Knight for a year and a half, I've grown fond of everything to do with it, and this was nice. I will say something though. I feel like if you think that Howling Wraiths/Abyss Shriek and Desolate Dive/Descending Dark aren't that useful in combat then you should watch skilled players (I reccomend fireb0rn). This was my first Metroidvania, and I was really bad, but watching fireb0rn helped me become better and learn a lot of stuff that I didn't get because I'm stubborn and never learned from in-game experiences. Shriek is the most powerful attack damage-wise, and It can be used in so many situation you wouldn't think it could be useful. And D Dark can be so clutch, especially since it gives you a brief moment of invincibility. Also, I noticed that when you talk about the first cutscene, you call the player character "Hollow Knight", which is incorrect. The two names used to refer to it are "Knight" (used by the wiki and influencial people) and "Ghost", by the more fanart and meme side of the fandom. And while there's a lot more I could say about HK, I'm gonna stop here, because I could go on for hours about this masterpiece of a game.
I’ll definitely have to give some more hardcore players a watch, my videos are meant to represent my experience as a whole but I did present those aspects in a kinda objective tone, hopefully I can pick up some new tricks with the advice!
Hollow Knight is such a big part of my life that for a year now I've been trying to find the words to make a video like yours dude! Crazy this vid doesn't have nearly the views it deserves.
I absolutely love Hollow Knight now. I bought it 3 years ago and hated it. It was my first metroidvania and couldn't get past Crossroads. Put the game down, tried it again 2 years later, got to THK and could never beat him. Put the game down again, then I tried it again a few months ago, and became obsessed. I beat the game finally, I got the true ending and beat Radiance, I beat the Grimm DLC, got 112%, beat Path of Pain, collected the Hunter's Mark after filling out the whole journal, did everything. I was at 62/63 achievements on Steam. Except for one. Pantheon 5. I spent HOURS and HOURS grinding the bosses in the Hall of Gods. I would constantly fail at Absolute Radiance in the final phase and it was so discouraging. But I finally beat it on a car ride visiting family several weeks ago, and it was the greatest feeling ever, delivering that final blow to Absolute Raidance, (Shoutout the Carefree Melody for tanking a hit when an orb spawned on me in the final phase). But after I did everything, I went back to Dirtmouth and sat on the bench one final time, listening to the music. An incredible game and can't wait for Silksong!
Hey, I'm going to tell you, I came here because of the Sonic content, but after watching your Spider-Man: EoT review and Lego Batman 1's as well, I'm staying because of your video style. It's really a breath of fresh air, in a youtube era that's gone stale due to saturated editing. Your channel is criminally underrated, and I wish you nothing but the best.
