It is irresponsible. As the good, fast skier, it's always your duty to watch out for those who can't because they are inexperienced, exhausted or just too busy to remain on their feet. Of course it's ridiculous to stop at the narrowest part. But this is not a free pass to nearly run over people. After all, it's not a race.

There is a reason downhill courses are closed for competitors. It is for the safety of the skiing public and the downhill competitors. While this skier might be capable of navigating the World Cup downhill course, it is not a downhill event. It is an open recreational ski day, with skiers of different skill levels. And to ski as though it is a downhill event, and expect skiers below you to be aware is pretty irresponsible. I race motorcycles and there is a reason I only race with other trained racers within the controlled confines of a race track and not on the street with other vehicles. Same thing.

The skier showed very poor technique and worse judgment. He obviously has no racing experience since he did not even know where to place his poles in the start gate. This was not a closed course and was full of family skiers which dictates that any responsible skier should have slowed down as he passed them or went over blind rolls in order to allow for the unexpected. It was pure luck that he did not send someone to the hospital due to his selfish poor judgment. This is an example at its worst of skiers with poor technique skiing far faster than their skill level and showing no respect for anyone else on the mountain. We can only hope that skiers like this will hit a tree or chairlift tower before they hit a person.
Nice Run I enjoyed that. I am not a good skier and would love to be able to do that run. I did one Red in Wengan and stayed the rest of the time on Blues. Although I have never seen it enforced, those skiing dangerously or on slopes which are beyond their capability where they become dangerous to others can be cautioned and or removed. The slopes are identified with colours to provide guidance to all skiers. This does not always translate. When you buy a ticket to ride, there are no restrictions imposed. These bottlenecks can be extremely hazardous.
How do you skii soo far without leg not hurting.. For me, i am a beginner, but somehow i cannot skii for more than 50 meters maybe or less, and i have to stop because my leg hurts a lot above ankle. I think my boot is too tight over there.

Tighter can actually be more comfortable depending what the problem is. But really you should ask your instructor if you have one, or whoever is teaching you, or whoever sold or rented you your boots. There is no good way to stop people from speeding. To discourage people from "doing it like the pros", a better measure would be to interrupt the course (for example, at the water stop), which would force people to take a short break. That also increases safety for the final turns.
@@braulyyy6033 Thanks, looks not difficult. The Mausefalle in Kitzbühel should be similar, and this is normally closed for normal people. I would skip it.
You are a bit above amateur skier my friend, or your legs are strong as mountain. My level is above intermediate but not close to professional skier, but aldo having strong legs, they are first that giving up on me, basically it would be physically hard for me to this slope without brake or two… Well done. I have never opportunity to go on competition slopes, however it’s hard not to notice a huge difference in slope preparation meaning that professional skier on this specific slope is 70% on pure ice, aldo in this video basically there was no ice at all, anyone that can explain this to me or it’s just pure accident??? Thanks
Good observation. Competition-like prep is just way too dangerous as it would be like an ice skating rink all the way down. There are videos of amateurs *trying* to go down the Streif a day or two after the race, and it's not pretty. Most skiers are simply not able to deal with such an amount of ice. And their skis might not even be properly sharpened. They would have to keep most of it locked down.
Fast run on an icy piste. You can see by the end he’s struggling big time. Lots of grumpy keyboard warriors in the comments here. He’s nowhere near “race speed”. He takes 5 min 30 seconds to cover 4.3km so that’s an average of 47km/h. The race takes around 2 min 30 so 3 mins faster and speeds peak at 160km/h. He slows down significantly and moves right across at the accident site just below where the jump is in the race and those skiers should not be blocking the piste just before the tunnel. Yes, he comes a bit close to a kid in the lower section and goes between groups of skiers stopped on the tops of rises but he never comes that close to them. I’ve seen much much worse when I was younger skiing in the Alps.
Way too fast considering the number of skiers on the track, especially when your legs are burning like this so you have less reflex and strength for an emergency stop
@@jestraalman at 2:48, yes, people are stopped at a stupid spot, but it is your job to anticipate...he had ZERO Chance of actually stopping, so, yes, reckless
That was a decent, but not perfect run. Hard, crispy slope, that's good, perfect conditions to go high speed carving, 100 kph plus. Or slower speed, with more curves. You were drifting a lot. Probably tactical, to safe stamina, clean carving would be a lot more exhausting. I see, on some places I'd go hocke, straight, much faster. But then using hard, deep carving turns, to slow down, before less visible areas coming in. You were a bit cautious, when best conditions, but several times too fast for the visibility on a rather crowded track. OH, and a few overtaking and pass by's of stsnding skiers were way too fast, really dangerous, if those do a weird movement. For a, high-speed, run wait for a less crowded, slope. Probably close to evening, or very early in the morning.
@@jestraalman There are other people on the slope and you are skiing at your limit, sometimes over your limit. This is completely irresponsible and stupid.
I'm envious of the skill needed to ski at that speed - even though the run was less than half as fast as the professionals manage, it looked well beyond my own capabilities. However, skill is only one part of the equation. If this run is open to recreational skiers of varying ability, going as fast as you did is a bit like driving at 200kph on a busy motorway where everyone else is below 130. I sincerely hope you never do this again, both for your own good and also for the safety of others.
Tbh I hate people who don't look out for others and just gun it down the hill without control, but he took wide curves around skiers, slowed down appropriately where required and kept control at all times. I might only have one issue which is the slope at the start where a lot of people were looking down and you couldn't see what was behind it. But he had plenty of room to evade any issues there. He could have gone much faster but this looks very controlled.

My level is above intermediate but not close to professional skier, but aldo having strong legs, they are first that giving up on me, basically it would be physically hard for me to this slope without brake or two…
Well done.
Impressive stuff!
Race speed ..... lol .... do you even seeatleast once the dh race on this slope?
He's going at a fair lick but not glat out
Snel gedaan. Sneller dan ik haha. Heb je speciale ski's gebruikt?
as long as you own a good pair of carving skis, you're good to go
ICY!! 🥶! Cheers!
The skier was in pain city. The longest run in the downhill has recorded some racers going over 100 mph.
ok Karen 👍🏻

Epic!!!
🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Way too fast considering the number of skiers on the track, especially when your legs are burning like this so you have less reflex and strength for an emergency stop
That is like a high speed game of Frogger.
'Expert'? If you say so.
I like how hes calling himself an expert skier in the description
what was your top speed?
exciting but unacceptable to be encouraged by the ski area to undertake this on a public course.
Great run
A good example how NOT to ski. Way to dangerous!!!
No it's not. Why are you saving this?
@@jestraalman at 2:48, yes, people are stopped at a stupid spot, but it is your job to anticipate...he had ZERO Chance of actually stopping, so, yes, reckless
Menuda tontería..
Full Yeti
No it's not. Why are you saving this?
@@jestraalman There are other people on the slope and you are skiing at your limit, sometimes over your limit. This is completely irresponsible and stupid.
@@danielduesentriebjunior How so you see this? For me it looks very controlled

Skiing is an accident waiting to happen.
WELL DONE!
lots of jerrys
It's not reckless. Why are you saving this?
As for technique. Of course, it can always be done in a better way
