  • The Protomen's song, The Father of Death from their 7" Single. It has a different sound from the album version and the only other rip I could find was 240p, so I uploaded a higher quality version here.

Fans of this song really should find the Final Duel music from For A Few Dollars More. This song draws heavy inspiration from that track.
Actually, just watch the final duel scene. Ennio Morricone

So much better. You listen to the choir on the album version, and it almost sounds like the microphone was in a different room.

Where did you find the MP3 of this and Silent Running/Breaking out?

It actually wasn't an mp3, but a cassette tape that was released for a very short period of time before Act II was released and is no longer available for sale.

I hate to break it for you, but there's no download link or extra copies of this available. If they ever reprint it, I'd be sure to hop onto it.

Is that The Gambler singing in this? If it is, she sounds so different.

+Lamfp Dewd the only realistic explanation for this that i can think of is the difference in style actually. the version from the single has a more naturally classic acoustic sound, with the female vocalist sounding more youthful and even soft, fitting in with the background instrumentation.
the album version is stronger, though. it has a harder beat and cleaner vocals overall. the female vocalist with the strongest voice at the time of the album's creation, being the gambler, fit the role and was meant to fit the style of the album version.
it is also notable that the single is a lot closer to the original demo version than the album version. a reason as to why it may have changed so much from the demo to the album is once again due to the blending of styles. the harder cleaner version would of course go to the album, since the other songs there such as breaking out and the hounds were strong, despite act ii being really diverse in style and genre, with arguably 3-4 genres on one album. the reason they may needed to have this song blend, even though it was so different from other songs on the same album, may have been to keep the interest of the listeners.
so really, overall, having different female vocalists really isn't unreasonable. both versions sound nice to me, and they were both meant to work in their own way.
also keep in mind that the only female vocalist remaining is the gambler. this likely hasn't to do with the skill of the others, but the band's current style is different from what it used to be.

I remember listening to this version on repeat countless times and then being really let down by the album version and then the album as a whole, it was all downhill from here I guess. that female vocalist part just did not hit anywhere near as hard as this one.
