It’s never too late to jump in. I recommend Discord, Lullaby for a Princess, and Gypsy Bard, all referenced in this video. As for the show itself, there are some ties to ancient mythology in the stories that can make it quite interesting. Season one and two are a bit childish, but there is a bit of a shift toward something that’s fun for the whole family after that. References that only the adults will get start real early though, especially in the names of episodes like “Boast Busters.”

I'm going back to watch some of the original videos and some of the references and detailes on this are so beautiful, like Fluffe Puff in the background of Magic, I didn't even notice back then.
There were times when I listened and only recognized half of them. I'm glad to say that on every single one of these, I know all of them. This is such a blast from the past! I hope at some point, someone will create a new Polka with all the newer works of art in the fandom.
Wherever AnimatedJames is now, I hope he sees this and smiles, knowing this incredible animation would have never existed without him. He left the fandom but he never left our hearts.

The sheer amount of kinetic energy here. The overwhelming quantity of references and cameos. The song by itself is a trip down memory lane. But this animation, by itself and especially with the music, is perhaps the ultimate swan song/love letter to the fandom.

How is he now ? I haven't heard much about him, from what I remember he had to leave the fandom due to some drama regarding a kink of his, but maybe that wasn't true ? Seriously if that was true, people are really lame. Anyway I'm still curious about how he's doing now.
Fun fact: Twilight eating a bird at 5:58 is scientifically accurate. Ruminants (a group which includes equines) have been documented veering from their normally vegetarian diets to eat small bits of meat, usually easy prey like baby birds, in order to supplement them nutritionally. Deer have even been discovered to chew on the bones of dead people at body farms (probably for the calcium needed to grow re-grow antlers each year.) Twilight needs those vitamins to grow a big old alicorn horn and wings like Celestia's.
My father told me that, when he was a kid, he saw a group of hogs devour a rooster. Being a farmer later in life, he realized that the pigs instinctively needed the meat protein, especially since this was in the days before fortified hog feed...

He said he saw a loose chicken get into his neighbor's pig pin. Instead of ignoring it like his "vegetarian" hogs did, those pigs got really quiet... Next thing you know, there was just a blood spot with feathers left in its place. When I was 8 I was treed by a group of wild hogs in Arkansas (razorbacks I think they call 'em?) My grandfather had to back up his truck so I could jump off a limb into the bed while he shot his shotgun to run them off. (I think he went back and killed them because of how vicious they were, just wanted to spare me the carnage.) Pigs are scary... I'd choose a pack of wild dogs over them anytime.
As a non brony, this is like seeing the ultimate creation of an ancient civilization. I may not have the nostalgia needed to fully appreciate this, but I still think it's pretty great.
There's plenty of classics that aren't in here too! But this does hit a good majority of em. If there's anything I'm proud of bronies for, it's their dedication to creating fan works.

Ehh Idk. Brony Polka was never a comprehensive part of anything except Brony pop music -- and not _popular_ music. The lack of SGaP or the trip hop / eurodance genres in general alone make this song an incomprehensive tribute to Brony music (which was never its intended goal). But even if it _were_, it would still not be a comprehensive tribute to the entirety of Ponydom or even the Brony fandom. FiMFiction.net is a crux of the modern Pony community, and even in 2014 it was still considerable in prominence. Loath as I am to admit it, the -- ugh -- Analyst community is also a highly prominent part of the fandom. Also, Fallout: Equestria and Project Horizons. Attend any con, and this is all obvious. This video is an excellent tribute to PMVs, and that's about the extent of it (even without the PMVs that lead into the Post-Pony movement, such as SGaP or PinkiePieSwear).

I was 12 when FiM got released, and here I am, in college, eyes welling up with nostalgia because of a pony mashup that I've been waiting on for what feels like forever. Proud to be a brony boomer, and big thanks to Viva Reverie, AnimatedJames (may his channel rest in peace), and everyone else that made the community such a joy to be a part of. There were virtually no pony content popping up on the Internet somewhere past 2016-2017, where before MLP was everywhere on the nets. It defined a good portion of the decade, but people usually only remember the latter bits of it, and MLP had almost no room to shine in those dying years.

i am floored. this is so sentimental to me, so many of the things i loved in one place. i have never witnessed a fandom so dedicated and creative to the point there was a whole massive multiverse of fan content, before or since. it was so unifying and homely. i wish i could say that about anything going on today
I remember first hearing about this almost 3 years ago. It's what got me into the fandom, seeing so many people come together over something they liked.
The fact that I memorized this song years ago, that I was still able to sing along word for word despite not hearing it for well over a year, and the uncompromising quality of this animation made this well worth the wait. Thank you so much for reminding me why I loved this fandom in the first place.

It’s never too late to jump in. I recommend Discord, Lullaby for a Princess, and Gypsy Bard, all referenced in this video. As for the show itself, there are some ties to ancient mythology in the stories that can make it quite interesting. Season one and two are a bit childish, but there is a bit of a shift toward something that’s fun for the whole family after that. References that only the adults will get start real early though, especially in the names of episodes like “Boast Busters.”

FiMFiction.net is a crux of the modern Pony community, and even in 2014 it was still considerable in prominence. Loath as I am to admit it, the -- ugh -- Analyst community is also a highly prominent part of the fandom. Also, Fallout: Equestria and Project Horizons. Attend any con, and this is all obvious.
This video is an excellent tribute to PMVs, and that's about the extent of it (even without the PMVs that lead into the Post-Pony movement, such as SGaP or PinkiePieSwear).

i was around at this time, 2012-2017 was my obsession years. these bring back so many memories, it was such a sweet wholesome fandom, it really died down since FIM ended. will always hold a very special place in my heart, there was so much love surrounding every part of it. i wanted nothing more than to go to bronycon, was never allowed. such fond memories bro it’s so nostalgic :(

There were virtually no pony content popping up on the Internet somewhere past 2016-2017, where before MLP was everywhere on the nets.
It defined a good portion of the decade, but people usually only remember the latter bits of it, and MLP had almost no room to shine in those dying years.
