One of the Fiercest Arguments the Den Has Ever Seen | Dragons’ Den

- At the age of 21-years-old Roger Hind enters The Den and witnesses one of the fiercest arguments the Den has ever seen. Roger Hind seeks an investment of £85,000 in return for a 15% stake of 'Rotamate'. The Rotamate washing line covers are an environmentally friendly way to protect your laundry from unpredictable weather.
An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

His reasoning that it's his first project so he wants to see it through to the end is key to understanding the mentality. He intends on making entrepreneurship his thing and he doesn't intend to stop at this product..he understands his own limitations, key among them his lack of experience. 60% of a million dollars is better than 100% of a failed business. I can't see that only covering the top of the dryer is going to keep the clothes dry as rain very rarely falls only vertically. On a day with any wind at all, the rain comes in at an angle and as the dryer turns, all sides will get wet. The only clothes that will stay dry are those in the centre which are protected by the others, and as the line is short there only small things like socks will fit. Anything of any size will be near the outside and largely unprotected.

The Dragon's probably don't care if it works, they only care if the people buying it will fall for it and spend money on it. It has an obvious design flaw that's very easy to fix. It just needs to have a 5 sided cube shaped covering with zips at the corners.

@@michaelh9649 I don't feel 'Dickkie' was being vague/non-committal. I think it's generally called an "Expression of Interest." (Genuinely NOT being sarccy ✋🏽) With EOI's...the initial 'terms' are fluid. (Hence Richard seeming vague.) The terms are merely a starting point 4 negotiations.
Ultimately...regardless of wether Dickkie 'changed his mind' or not...the fact is he @ least made an offer. Peter did not. So Dickkie was putting his 💰 where his mouth was. Why didn't anyone mention rain rarely falls straight down, mostly a little wind at an angle still soaking the clothes, atleast on one side..?
This whole pitch had me scratching my head for that reason. His summing up made it very clear that he was more interested in getting a product out there than the money - principles.
“For a 15% stake in a business”
What business? Nobody knows. But he’s gonna tell you about his anyway
This is like Pinkman sitting at the dinner table in between Walt and Skylar.
whatever happened to truth in advertising?
These beans are amazing
mummy and daddy are fighting :(
He did well to keep his composure whilst that was going on. Richard Farley is a good Investor. Peter and Theo really let themselves down with their behaviour. I'm not surprised Richard left the programme. Well done Rotamate 👍🇬🇧😊
I don't think he left, I read somewhere that he misses the show and wished he hadn't been driven out.
Peter was trying to warn the guy that he was being stiched up. That shows integrity, that the other two SHARKS failed to display.
Everybody’s simping for Richard but honestly the way Duncan stood up for him near the end was really admirable. “Put your money where your mouth is.”
Peter Jones is a bit of a bully, he tried bullying tage when he first turned up.
I'm Team Richard all the way.
As much as I love the show, the main-cast of Dragons can be huge jerks alot of the time.
Duncan's reaction at 1:06 is priceless 😂😂
@MICHELLEENA MAKAVELI
Nopes, it's priceless.
I was DYINGGG with his and Theo’s face 😭😂🤣🤣
What the hell is wrong with Peter and Theo? Jeez, they're so annoying!
Trying to help a young businessman
@@jonnil1997 Nonsense.
There’s a reason Peter is the most successful and most wealthy dragon.
Now I understand why they got rid of Richard because the other Dragons definitely threw one after this but they should've kept him because he's great
Shark Tank: Made the stage luxurious and alluring.
Dragon's Den: "We wanted a grim, miserable, possibly illegal look. Freddy Krueger did the music as well."
No wonder Richard left after this series
I don’t really see anything wrong with what Richard done to be honest he did say ‘around 15%’ depending on what the other dragons say, Debra said 20% so he matched it what’s the issue? Peter was out and had no need to keep interrupting the negotiations
Interesting that Peter and Theo recognise that 40% is a huge amount of equity here, yet they ask for it frequently. Theo’s reasoning here is that Roger was only 21, so maybe they only go after people they think should know better? I haven’t seen enough of these older episodes to be sure, but I wonder if it’s that or if they just got more ruthless with time.
This is cool seeing the dynamic between the panel
He’ll do incredibly well in life because of this partnership alone now! Good lad!
prove he did i never seen this product til now
Peter has looked like a fool so much times but his pride blinds him
What a professional young man.
Taking 40% of a 21 year olds first business is disgusting. They should be ashamed of themselves
Looks about as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike.
Why are you a hater of motorbike ashtrays?
Basically without further testing ...........yes.
haha
Do you have the patent?
Or as useful as dartboard in a lift.
I thought Deborah's offer was for all of the money, not half? Does she say its for half and I just missed it?
I'm confused
True. She doesn’t say for the full funding
Yes. she never mentioned for half the money. If the entrepreneur didnt notice that wow then he got robbed even if we consider he didn't negotiate
Think its just poor editing. This is like an hr+ pitch that they just cut to the air time and then cut even further for these YT clips. So it was probably clearer before. Being that Richard already said he was going half for 15% I assume the other dragons were coming in on that investment unless they stated otherwise.
Yea i think there was far more edited out than was shown ... bits of that negotiation are clearly missing...not sure why
Great pitch, this guy is going places for sure.
