Hey, I'm here from 2020, the year of lockdown, virus, and "god I miss 2019". Here racing is often followed by hundreds of deaths, drug use on the horses and just terrible work. I'm yet to support the industry, and at this rate, I never will, but it's beautiful to see this horse never snapped a leg because he was drugged, he lived a lovely racing life surrounded by the things he loved :D I can't find anything on him dying, so this 20 year old horse is still out there by the looks of it :D
My name is Shirley Schwartz breeder n former owner of Cloudy's Knight. I would like to take this opportunity to thank each n everyone of you, for not only watching Jessica's caring video, but to take the time to express your wonderful n loving comments on Cloudy's Knight. He is now 16 years of age n living in a huge paddock lined with trees. He is very happy n is enjoying his custom built run in shed filled with bales of hay, bags of carrots, n all the oats n grains that make for a very contented horse. Just wanted to update all his great fans n admirers that he is living the life of luxury he so richly deserves. Specials thanks to Nancy n Blue for giving Cloudy a wonderful n loving home!
Dear Shirley...what a huge heart you have to have given him to Nancy. What is so incredible about this story is that all of your hearts have always been geared to the well being and happiness of Cloudy. I have never heard of such givingness and loving generosity with any race horse. Letting him develop physically at his healthy pace, giving him time off when needed, changing riders when it was appropriate, physical therapy, and loving care takers, just to mention a few. Cloudy is indeed a special soul, but so are all of you that allowed him to shine so brightly!
Shirley you and your team (family) are an inspiration to horse owners everywhere! The love, compassion and care that Cloudy has received, and continues to receive, is the dream that all horse lovers wish for all the special animals in the world. I have a 5yo mare that came out strong, put some pressure on those that push hard each and every weekend, however myself, as her owner, and my rider are both in alignment that we want that "forever" horse, not just that "up and coming one hit wonder" horse. Everyone's love and admiration for Cloudy is so refreshing! Thanks for the video and sharing his story. I will forever be a fan!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. It has been a privilege to meet Cloudy's Knight. With all the sadness and misery in the horse world, Cloudy's family and team has restored a little of my hope for the love of a horse.
Most racehorses are well cared for a loved. I work at the track and see owners visit their horses and love them all the time. Where did you hear that owners and trainers dont care? PETA?
Thanks so much for this. I was at the Breeders' Cup when he was beaten by a nose by Man of Iron, and I freely admit, I cried a bit. Beaten a nose by a horse half his age; what a spectacular animal.
Great story.I was so disappointed when he won the Canadian International because he beat Ask who was one of my favourites but how can you not love a horse that gives his all every time he runs and runs as long as he did.I'm so glad to see he has a life after racing and I'm sure he'll be just as successful at jumping as he was at racing.I'd love to see more stories of horses from yesteryear, theres an almost endless supply of horses to choose from.Thank you so much for sharing.
As a retired horse jockey, I wanted to take my hat off to the owners and trainers for taking so good care of Cloudy, as we all know that most racehorses do not receive such an end life. Bravo!!!
Amazing, awesome, truly inspiring story. I LOVE YOUR HORSE -- and want to ADOPT all of you! Great TEAM!! Thank you all those who worked to present this true, honest horse story.
I think especially great, intuitive, reality based trainers like Tom Smith (Seabiscuit) would be very pleased with the owners of this exceptional racehorse. What a shame he has no progeny. His pedigree going 5 generations back includes Somethingroyal who gave us a handful of great racehorses including Secretariat, Nearctic, Northern Dancer, Princequillo, and then some.
I was enthralled to read about a horse that was treated so well. I have read so much about race horses and the mistreatment and this was such a pleasure, so joyous.
I grew up showing Quaterhorses and this horse reminds me so much of my lock bars horse and I would race my friends and never lost in an open field, RIP Locke love ❤️ you and miss you dearly. They are called Quarter horse because they are 25 percent Thourabred
I'm so happy that this is a happy and good lived story of a racehorse and that he got the retirement and good living that he did :) very happy story :)
This made me cry, i'm so happy to know where he is now. I'm so proud of him, I hope he lives a long injury free happy life in his new home. We love you Cloudy :) And i'll never forget that Breeders Cup :D
WoW excellent video doc of this amazing horse and such a wonderful ending with Cloudy's Knight still having challenges in jumping competition and being taken care of so well :)) Congrads to Cloudy and the whole team!
Cloudy is a beautiful horse ! I wish all horses had such wonderful of owners !! I salute you for doing the best thing for Cloudy. GOOD PEOPLE. Regards. Cheryl
Love thoroughbreds. Love racing. LOVE Arlington Park! I make it a point to get out there whenever I visit Chicago, if it's the right time of year! Otherwise, I head out to Hawthorne. Keep up the good work, AP!
i rescued an ottb in jan. of this year he is a dream, i love cloudy's story and i wish more owners had money to take care of the horses they breed and race, though i must say my guy didn't do well in the races they put him in, but i did find a video of him busting out of the starting gates before the race began haha
Great story. Please always wear a helmet while riding. Helmets are lightweight now. I have had many falls where I would have died had I not been wearing a helmet.
Don't let what it seems to be like fool you. My family is 3rd generation racetrackers and no one cares about these horses unless they are making money and getting famous.
He was in the prime of life when he retired at age 10. Four- and five-year olds haven't even finished maturing physically and mentally. Cloudy ran longer because he wasn't rushed as a youngster; they gave him time to grow up, something I would like to see more owners and trainers do.
Well Beanie Green that would have been nice, however, Cloudy is a gelding unable to foal. That's why Dr. And Mrs. Schwartz ran Cloudy in his latter racing years! 🐴🐎🐴🐎🐴🐎🐴🐎
What a great horse, Cloudy's knight, I so love the race horses, I've been around them as a fan, exercise girl in Bonsal Ca, owner of a mare that bowed a tendon, and generally a crazy Thorobred horse lover. My condoances to the lady who's back was broken, I've had 4 spinal fusions myself, but still ride gental horses when I can.God bless you all. Your great people!💗🏇🏿
This horse is a Gelding, has no use on the Farm other than to be a pet or a Grinder. If he was a Stallion or Mare they would have done what most of the Racing World does and started him earlier and had a shorter time on the track running races and taken back to the farm to live their lives out as Broodmares or standing Stud.. Geldings are the Grunts of the Race World, they will run them into the ground if given the chance....
I actually remember him Cloudy's Knight in the race in the Breeders Cup Marathon he's such a beautiful horse I wish I would've known more about him I probably would've played him more often
Great job, Jessica. Brought back many memories. I live a stone's throw from Woodbine, and remember how ANNOYED I was when Cloudy won. lol. But, now... I look back fondly. Well done on this.
I see Princequillo on both sides of his pedigree and Somethingroyal on the Sire line 3rd and 4th generations back, I believe. Since he has no recorded progeny I was wondering if anyone knows why ?
Dear knk4ever83 Cloudy is not only alive, but thriving, n looks as though he could come out of retirement n give these 3-4-5-6-7-8,and 9 year olds a run for their money🐴🐴🐴🐴🐴🐴🐴
thank you god for people like you. ..I too love horses. ..and grew up showing. ..there is nothing like the relationship between a horse and a girl. .lol. ..
He didn't run in the Belmont stakes for the Kentucky Derby because he was already to old when they started his training. The Triple Crown races are races for 2 year olds that have to have been able to win there way into spots into those races if i remember correctly. They do have lotteries for some of the slots but you have to pay a great deal of money to even get a chance to put your name in the lottery. Basically there are ways to qualify for those races. I think in the documentary they said they didn't start training him until late in 2 year old year or maybe when he turned 3.
Robin Young the triple crown races are for three-year-olds. I believe during Cloudy's Knight's time, Derby spots were earned based on the amount of money the horse had won. Derby spots are now earned using a point system.

you were a godsend too, for him, and him for you all. .and what a wonderful video. .
Shirley. That's wonderful to hear. Please could some photos be posted on fb page. I wish there were more owners/breeders like you!
Wonderful to hear he is enjoying life as all race houses should after earning a lot of money for their owners

This was a wonderful story about a very special horse. It's so nice to see a retired racehorse end up in a great home living a happy life.
You folks are great people , the way you treated this horse, you will be rewarded !🏇🏿🏇🏿💜
Beautiful Animal! Magnificent Animal! Well deserved retirement, loved by so many.❤🐴 Enjoyed this documentary on Cloudy Knight.
Oh how I loved this video! As a racehorse owner in California, it was so wonderful to see how much this horse was loved by everyone. . xxx
Wonderful film. Love this horse. I really thought he had the 2009 Breeders Cup Marathon. One of the best.
that's the love and care every horse deserves! what a massive horse!
What a special story of great people and a great horse.
Awesome video. For every great horse, there are always great people caring in the best possible care for it.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. It has been a privilege to meet Cloudy's Knight. With all the sadness and misery in the horse world, Cloudy's family and team has restored a little of my hope for the love of a horse.
I think I cried through most of this. What a horse and what a story. The heart of a lion, indeed.
This was a great story and I wish more race horses got this same respect as cloudys night.
This is how a race horse should be treated. The owners & trainers were very caring about him. What a pity most don't.
Most racehorses are well cared for a loved. I work at the track and see owners visit their horses and love them all the time. Where did you hear that owners and trainers dont care? PETA?

This is how life should be for a racehorse when he retires. Thank you for caring for this wonderful horse.
awesome a real horse thanks for sharing this story with us
What a wonderful story! All racehorses deserve to be taken care of so well!!
This horse is loved. not just a money maker. Very nice to see.
What a great story. Really really terrific, if only all owners/breeders were like the Schwartz's. Terrific job, Arlington Park.
What a wonderful, wonderful story!!!! Thanks you so much! ♥ He's gorgeous!!
Great story !! I am so glad that he is well cared for.
What a incredible video and Racehorse. I'm so glad to see that he has such a loving and caring owner and former owners. Thanks for the memories
Great story of a wonderful horse family and a great horse.

Wow! Thank you for very well taking care of this beautiful "Lion Heart" creature..
Now that is a GREAT way to treat a truly wonderful horse....
Neat story. Thanks for sharing!
Cloudys Knight is a beauty and so lucky to have owners like you🌹
What a great story and a great way to end a racing career 😊🐎😊
The heart of a lion. What a tremendous story and what an amazing horse!
WoW excellent video doc of this amazing horse and such a wonderful ending with Cloudy's Knight still having challenges in jumping competition and being taken care of so well :))
Congrads to Cloudy and the whole team!
Great story, even greater ending, How awesome Cloudy was given to his greatest fan.
Thank you for this. I was fortunate to see Cloudy run many times, as well as many in his family tree. BRIAN
I wish all owners were so considerate of their racehorses.
Such a beautiful horse
Now every horse should be treated like Cloudy's Knight.
Cloudy is a beautiful horse ! I wish all horses had such wonderful of owners !! I salute you for doing the best thing for Cloudy. GOOD PEOPLE. Regards. Cheryl
most do, who is going to harm an animal that cost more than most homes in America, only an idiot.
But the sad thing is, that’ll never happen
Thank you for thos beautiful video. I was at SA BC and saw Cloudy run!
Thank you for making this! It was incredible and I hope you do more in the future! Cloudy was and will always be one of my favorites!!!
Wonderful story.
Love thoroughbreds. Love racing. LOVE Arlington Park! I make it a point to get out there whenever I visit Chicago, if it's the right time of year! Otherwise, I head out to Hawthorne. Keep up the good work, AP!
after seeing all the other race horse stories this one was amazing. wish more people ran and retired their race horses this way
I wish all horses were treated with love and compassion...and horse owners please keep your racing horse instead of sending them to slaughter...
Every track has local stars -- and these hard-knocking pugilists that never miss the starting bell are the lifeblood of the sport.
Gorgeous horse!
Beautiful Story..Really Enjoyed it !!
i rescued an ottb in jan. of this year he is a dream, i love cloudy's story and i wish more owners had money to take care of the horses they breed and race, though i must say my guy didn't do well in the races they put him in, but i did find a video of him busting out of the starting gates before the race began haha

Great story.
Please always wear a helmet while riding. Helmets are lightweight now. I have had many falls where I would have died had I not been wearing a helmet.
Awesome story. This was 41 minutes well spent.
That was great! I hope you can do more of these in the future!
This is a fairy tale ending. I hope someone makes a movie of Cloudy's life.
This is a gorgeous story!! This is how horses should be treated!!! He is a beautiful horse!!!
Don't let what it seems to be like fool you. My family is 3rd generation racetrackers and no one cares about these horses unless they are making money and getting famous.
This horse ran until he was very old! This is very rare I guess because most retire at the age of 4-5.
He was in the prime of life when he retired at age 10. Four- and five-year olds haven't even finished maturing physically and mentally. Cloudy ran longer because he wasn't rushed as a youngster; they gave him time to grow up, something I would like to see more owners and trainers do.
This is so wonderful! Thank you Arlington Park, for putting this together! Bless you, Cloudy, and all of the amazing people in your life!
Thanks so much for sharing this....love stories like this!
Fascinating, I am now an old lady that was always a horsey girl. Still would muck stalls for free if asked.
You should see if you can volunteer at a horse rescue or at a therapeutic riding place..something like that. Or even at a local 4h.
love late maturing stayers. the emphasis is so much on precocious speed these days. thanks
+MsVanorak have you seen Dream alliance on more 4 TV. UK? Think you'll enjoy it
+MsVanorak ps. Dark horse: The incredible true story of Dream Alliance
a wonderful story, wonderful owners, a life of love for an adorable horse. Has he sired any babies that take after him?
Well Beanie Green that would have been nice, however, Cloudy is a gelding unable to foal. That's why Dr. And Mrs. Schwartz ran Cloudy in his latter racing years! 🐴🐎🐴🐎🐴🐎🐴🐎
oh,I didn't realize he was a gelding. but I hope he is enjoying retirement.
Your great people!💗🏇🏿
agree treated with respect and love.
The woman owner was exactly right to have him trained and turned out in the meadows. A happy horse = a good running horse
MsUnicornBlues This is untrue. The majority of geldings are now made into pleasure/competition horses . . . Especially the really nice ones.
Great story !!
Beautiful!
beautiful story ty
I have never heard of this wonderful horse. I don't follow closely but why didn't he run the Belmont stakes or the Kentucky Derby?
Thank you!
You are asking a horse to run potentially injured....How can that be the correct decision regardless of how he placed?
I actually remember him Cloudy's Knight in the race in the Breeders Cup Marathon he's such a beautiful horse I wish I would've known more about him I probably would've played him more often
Great job, Jessica. Brought back many memories. I live a stone's throw from Woodbine, and remember how ANNOYED I was when Cloudy won. lol. But, now... I look back fondly. Well done on this.
Very nice job honoring a "real" race horse.
Loved it and love Cloudy's Knight!!
I'd love racing a lot more if they didn't start them so damn young ><
did Cloudy's Knight run in the Arlington Million or the Secretariat Stakes both of which are run at Arlington
haha, MGD and carrots...what a lucky guy!
I see Princequillo on both sides of his pedigree and Somethingroyal on the Sire line 3rd and 4th generations back, I believe. Since he has no recorded progeny I was wondering if anyone knows why ?
He's a gelding.
.
Cloudy's Knight is alive and well living the life of luxury provided by his new owner Nancy Knott, who you got to know in A Cloudy's Knight Tale!
love it!!!!
Homeister get her start at Aqueduct, I remember her, good rider
1:57 That's my exact birthday O_O
Dear knk4ever83 Cloudy is not only alive, but thriving, n looks as though he could come out of retirement n give these 3-4-5-6-7-8,and 9 year olds a run for their money🐴🐴🐴🐴🐴🐴🐴
thank you god for people like you. ..I too love horses. ..and grew up showing. ..there is nothing like the relationship between a horse and a girl. .lol. ..
