2013 Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Fork Seals and Fork Oil

- Had a fork seal blow on this 2013 Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200. So I removed and replaced the oil seal, and installed fresh fork oil in the process. This is one of the more complicated sets of forks you can work on. Cruiser bikes are more straight forward usually. I hope you find the video useful and informative. This one was hard to film and work at the same time.
As always any questions leave them in the comments.
Thanks for watching!
Why did you not show the dis assembly?????
Can you hear the sound of a small spring when the suspension is in operation? I have this on my Tiger and I'm not sure if it's normal.
I am a mechanic not a motorcycle mechanic but I own a Triumph Tiger 1200 and i payed a shop $500.00 USA dollars to do this job that did not hold up so I have bought necessary tools to do them myself I am less than $100 in the tools and I will be posting a full video on how to do the job from start to finish in the upcoming future this is a easy job that a lot of people is making in to a big dill but thanks for the video you guys did a good job of showing most of it thanks
I can't find your video you said you'd do
@@stephensundet8472 today's Thursday 11-10-22 and yesterday I just got both new Forks in from Triumph they've been on back order and do you have a email I will send you a copy of the workshop manual for these Forks with all torque specifications I am looking forward to doing the video I'm hoping to do it today if the weather holds off then it is a matter of learning how to post it to the internet 🤣
@@stephensundet8472 all right sir I'm posting the video today it's taking 4 hours to upload and I think it's got a little longer to go you should be able to find it when it comes up under Triumph Tiger 1200 Explorer fort seal replacement when they publish it they might take time to put it on the internet after it's been uploaded
Bike has been sitting too long, thanks for the info. I appreciate it and sorry for responding so late, I don't get notifications from youtube responses...
@@alabamainformedpublic. where's the video posted?
After looking this video I am glad I had my 2012 Explorer front fork seals renewed by a dealer. It cost 220€ including everything.
Cost me $35 USD in parts and oil to do it myself. Its a time consuming and long process though I’ll give you that.
Can post a to the link the tools you used? I’m going to attempt this myself
To clarify, the specialized tools you used to remove the springs And get the c clamps back in. Thanks for the video
Thanks for this video!
But you did not pump the rod up and down for a minute or two to let out the air?
You'd better poor in the oil before putting in the spring and then pump till all the air has come out I guess.
Just because it wasn’t filmed doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. It was pumped till it stiffened up.
this is what iv just said...
And to take to bits take out the bottom allen leg bolt...he's
made the job 100 times harder..
Thanks
Welcome
I did this replacement without dissembling the main spring from the upper tap.
Does that represent a problem?
Thanks
There's always multiple ways to do any job, if it is functioning correct, I wouldn't worry about it!
Question for the O/P, was it even necessary to remove the piston cartridge from the stanchion for a simple oil/dust seal change??? It wasn't for my kids dirtbike, at all, and I could have killed the dude I watched do so on here...LOL!
Surely if you're only doing the seals and bushings ( the bits you called c clips ) you don't need to separate the damper rod assembly, only remove it
Jeez Guys that was painful...................!
How much oil in that suspension???
