Nate Dawg my friend he was an OG figure reviewer that was beloved by the action figure collecting community in general. He sadly died in 2016 due to an undiscovered heart problem. He was often known for these side by side reviews comparing toybiz and hasbro marvel legends.
had that Toybiz Doom when i am 7 years old(too bad i lost its mask so i've been wanting a great Doom figure) , I'm 22 now. And having the new Doom feels great, it has great articulation and the poses I can now recreate Marvel vs Capcom and Marvel Super Heroes with it. Anyway great video, you forgot to mention it had a small Latveria base
I feel the same way about the Toybiz Doom. I love it, and because I have it, I passed on both of Hasbro's earlier Dooms and I was never longing for them to do a better Doom. But yes, Hasbro's latest Doom is amazing. Also, you don't need to justify putting Jubilee on your top 10 over Doom....it's your list! Let those complainers make their own top 10.
Not gonna lie jubilee was my childhood crush don't know why but probably when I was sick from a stomach virus that made me throw up my food I was on the family couch just watching reruns of xmen and whenever jubilee appeared on the screen she always made me smile
Some of the Toybiz Legends are seriously amazing for the time. I really love the first appearence Iron Man, one of my absolute favorite figures in my collection! A solid heavy figure with great articulation and sculpt. The Dr Doom is pretty darn good but that mini skirt is annoying! Ooops!
I gotta say there's no comparison to the 2019 Doom. The toy biz Dr Doom in his mini skirt is just horrible. Only my opinion. Love your show. Happy New year 🎉
This was a figure back in 2004 about 15 years ago...though it doesn’t have the articulation...the detailing should be appreciated and it came with a base! Imagine what could have Toybiz done if they are still licensed today...they would have killed it like back in the day
I watch your UA-cam videos since 2014 and collected in that same year. Being with you and others in this long journey has been awesome and I agree toybiz does got somethings down with their line with marvel legends!
Hey Shartimus! I loved the video, you helped me make a costly decision! I couldn't decide whether to get the toybiz or Hasbro one, and now I know! Thanks so much. I'm also moving soon and have to pack up all my figures. Wish me luck! Keep up the awesome vids!

That was your list, Shartimus! We gotta respect it. Your choices, your opinion. But yes, I would make very different choices. Doctor Doom would make the top three and Silver Samurai and that 80 years Cap would be in it too. Congrats on your work!
I don't mind not being able to remove the mask on the new one. I've always been of the opinion that Doom's face should never be seen. Is he horrifically scarred? Does he just have one scar that his fragile ego has blown out of proportion? Stan and Jack never showed his face, nor did Byrne or anyone else until the 2015 Secret Wars... and I still wish they hadn't done it there. But both figures are cool! I cannot wait to get the new one!
I still haven't found another reviewer who filled the niche of being a calm and laidback figure critic like Glenn Webb was. The man was truly one of a kind.
The sculpts weren’t the best BUT I miss the hand painted feel and detail. Not to mention, the free comic and overall package presentation. They didn’t feel “mass produced”. Very custom like. Hasbro looks great, but they lack the same soul and come with very little to justify their price.
I've been collecting figures since the late 90s, and I feel like a lot of older collectors tend to view Toybiz through rose-colored glasses. That series 2 Doom only passably resembles a human being. Many of the most recent Hasbro figures are just exemplary, and the new Doom is one of the best. (See also: Power Rangers Lightning Series, Overwatch Ultimates Series.) It combines Toybiz levels of care and attention to detail with modern engineering and consistency, and the result is easily one of the best 20-dollar figures of the last ten years. Your reasoning on Jubilee is totally valid (Jim Lee/cartoon X-Men are the only team I collect, so I get you), but she's a pretty basic figure. I want to encourage Hasbro to produce more quality pieces like Doom. They sculpted chainmail in his elbow joints for chrissake.
I remember when the first wave of toybiz marvel legends dropped in the comic shops in Austin. Diamond Select came next and Marvel legends were the impressive improvement of both lines. Like Mego vs Hot Toys. I would dropkick a boyscout for that Doom figure though.
For me the toybiz dr. Doom is a solid 8.5 or 9/10, a really amazing figure, even to the today's standards. On the other hand the hasbro one is a 9.5/10. It is the closest Habro has been to perfection and I really love that figure just as much or more than the toybiz one.
I’ve been collecting since the beginning and I totally get where you are coming from bro. Also people fail to realize these lists are your opinion. Keep on being awesome and keep up the great work!
You are absolutely right. Thanks for taking so much time to explain why. You are really a nice guy. Anyway, it’s your list, your criteria and your opinion. In my opinion, if I look only at the figures that came out in 2019, even though we have a nice Dr.Doom from Toybiz, still in 2019 this figure will be in my top 10.
Me personally I don’t care about paint shading as long as the colors are correct and the colors are the same shade if they’re supposed to be then I’m good. But I do agree about the mask and doom bots I would have liked to get those heads but I think it’s really good so I can’t complain.
Yeah really makes sense to compare a figure that came like a hundred years ago and say that Hasbro is better because they have better technology to produce better figures. OMG it's better, what a surprise...
The Series II Doctor Doom will pass as a Kristoff Vernard. There's lots of room for many alternate Doctor Dooms (i.e. Parliament of Doom) so they're all good.
Hey sharta I have a figure and his really really really really really really cool his the MAFEX dark Knight rises bane he is one of my favorite figures his eyes are sooo Realist and his just such a nice figure I really recommend it
The more I see this Dr Doom figure the more I can not wait to get it in person I have I collect marvel ledgends since I was a kid since I was six years old happy New year to u to bro
I think the jubilee wave was 2015. Might've been 2014. 2013 still had the ROML packaging, 2014 it switched to the infinite series packaging which jubilee wave was in
Although I have usually been pleased with most Doom figures that have come out over the years..... to this day, my own personal ideal Dr.Doom figure has still not been made. The biggest thing I'd like to see, is to have actual real fabric used in some part.......specifically on the tunic. The plastic molded cape and hood are great and although I agree with you about the neck gap, I actually prefer that the hood/head and the cape are 2 separated pieces. The figure underneath the fabric tunic itself should just be a completed armored Ironman-esque body, perhaps being a little similar looking to Dr. Doom's old 4 inch Secret Wars '85 figure from MATTEL. A fabric tunic may also allow a built-in classic/modern alt mode to be done via maybe a belt adjustment. But yeah....I'm definitely gonna pick up one of the new Doom's.
@TheStriderSyd I hate the price on hot toys but I think doom would be worth it I got a samurai predator from them and I still feel it was worth the price. Play arts is cheap when they’re new but yea holy shit the prices can get ridiculous
The luger on the new figure has way more details and it actually looks historicaly accurate and way better looking then the other one. The only thing better that the toy biz is the paint
I'm honestly fine with Doom not having a removable mask purely because I always saw Doom as someone who could never remove it, whether it is actually welded to his face or it's a mental block.
Nahhhh we don't need this figure comparison shart it's sure win obviously for the new Doctor Doom! I mean seriously the Joints, mold, look, and aesthetic overall of the figure outdates the toybiz. I agree with the unremovable mask though but accept tha facts shart that new doom rocks.
Your top ten isn't my top ten, it's yours! Everyone is going to have a different opinion! Some characters I may have not be familiar with or are more familiar with than other folks which may or may not influence my top ten list. It's all good! No reason for anyone to be pist off lol. You pick your ten, I'll pick mine at the end of the day they are all cool. There's rarely a figure I don't care for these days it's truly the golden age of action figures.
Agreed. Doesn't matter how long you were waiting for Jubilee. It's a good figure of a lame character. Doom is a fukkin icon and yes , I do understand this list is one man's opinion.
Just seen this jubilee was my top 10 last year as well.. that's awesome lol anyone who wasn't dieng for a Jim lee jubilee for the longest just wont get it
The old Doctor Doom Suuuuucks!!! Shartimus is just blinded by nostalgia. He is taking all the tiny lil things that it did ok and over exaggerating them and ignore the fact that it's really really outdated
Thing is, most X-Men fans kind of agree Jubilee is already one of the lamer X-Men to begin with, and the figure itself is just kinda meh. No good accessories, the color on the coat clashes with the yellow of all the other X-Men in the line, and the articulation is kinda weird. ... Meanwhile Doctor Doom is like the best character in comics (don't @ me) and this new Doom is the first one to, let's face it, look like Doctor Doom. Have you seen Doom? He doesn't look like that Toybiz crap at all. And he almost never takes his mask off anyway.
Its YOUR favorite figures not necessarily the best figure overall. We get it... but you should do both, your personal favorite and the best ( well made good effort from hasbro) figure.
It's a no brainer, Shartimus Prime. The new Doctor Doom is the clear choice.Toy Biz blows. You're remembering those figures more fondly because you were having more fun then.
Maybe you should have excluded The Fantastic Four wave due to its late release. Would have avoided a bit of the controversy. Like I said prior, to each there own. It’s your channel your list. However Dr. Doom is a groundbreaking fig for hasbro. It’s as high tier in design as Walgreen’s the Thing was. They spared no expense and time invested in the sculpt. In my humble opinion. However your channel your opinion. Jubilee was a welcomed addition but not a ground breaking design. Lots of reuse and no head sculpt with the glasses up without the bubble gum appendage. I mean it was better then not having her. To me not even in the same ball game as Victor Von Doom. Also not as iconic, X-Men fan or not, Doctor Doom is one of the most important villains across all Marvel comics. Where Jubilee is just well know for the cartoon (great cartoon ) and a C character in power and storyline. She is not Professor X.
Im not even a FF or Doom fan, but even I kind of want to pick it up. That said I get why Jubilee made it. 90s X men, come on 'nuff said. Its a shame Hasbro kind of dropped the ball for Sabretooth, yeah it is him, but hes missing the bulk and overall look.
