The scariest part about Misaka's short struggle against Accelerator is that he didn't even realize it was her most powerful attack.
He did realize it after he saw the look on her face that he just deflected her trump card. Even laughing and jeering at Misaka about just how large a gap there was between their abilities.
And then next the famous voice lines, _"Accelerator, yoroshiku~"_
I think he did realize but just pretended to be and expected it to be stronger or so. Since he's the strongest level 5 with imense intellect and superb analytical skills, I'd bet my balls that he figured it out, even before Misaka attacked. He does seem to be able to see/feel vectors of living beings and corpses (see Accelerator animu) so maybe he was also aware of the stronger electromagnetic emission Misaka emits compared to the Sisters.
He is strongest esper from science side after all but her attack is nothing infront of Accelerator.(he is not strongest character)
Gunha caught it from his teeth or something and kakine wing's are strong enough to block railgun.
She is below saint level with little trick Even styl can defeat her.

Dunno about railgun but Mugino got so beat up in index 3
In terms of anime and level 5 maybe yes, but we have to take into account mugino losing an eye and arm in the explosion and then becoming half robo. And Kakine who was destroyed by the accelerator in the novel (the anime adapted badly) but Kakine was practically dead with his whole body destroyed, only his brain was intact .
But in terms of characters, misaka and kamijou touma clones were the ones who suffered themost so far in mine opinion
Tbh in Gunha's case I doubt he was ever in any "real" trouble, that guy may as well be physically unbreakable.

Gunha only trouble is when he faced Ollerus which is the only magician that near magic god level (set aside Aleister & Golden Dawn Magicians).

Well, let’s face it: Accelerator is stupidly OP for the setting. When a character can stop and REVERSE the rotation of the PLANET, you know the Superpower Lottery is busted.

@@christinserban2331 I mean, let’s face it: MOST of us would be Level 0. Sure, none of us literally suck the bad luck of others *cough*Touma*cough*, but we aren’t lucky enough to get such a stupidly powerful ability. As much as I would like to say I’d be Level 3 or up, I’d more likely to be Level 1 with some mildly useful power that can’t really go any further, no matter how much I munchkin it. Still, guess that would mean I didn’t have to know as much math, physics, and quantum mechanics. Imagine how much of that Accelerator needs to know to use his ability properly.
setting aside kakine, accel is so powerfull that the author had to nerf him, lol. Cos if he still can go 100% even after he turns a good guy, academy city doesnt need touma.
and the author also had to nerf kakine. cos his power is like a cockroach, a persistence shit that making use of time and wait.

I love that the level 5s are the ones in trouble, but also the cause half of the time.

@@maramba32 Their ability isn't fully known, but it has something to do with powering up other people, by turning them into their "ideal" selves.
And it can apparently work on Touma, so that's a thing.

As rank 2 I thought kakine would have a bigger impact in the show but it’s really sad how he had to go against accelerator, I really wanted to know more about his abilities.

She mentioned him and even fought together and you forgot their confrontation before Touma beat Accelerator

That's the joke, the identity of the Sixth is a mystery. There was a point in the LN that the Sixth was going to be revealed but was then shown to be not the one as one of the others called that one out. It was even played for laughs in the Daihousai events in Railgun's anime and manga, they couldn't find the sixth.

Gunha was never actually in trouble. We just wanted to let the other 6 level 5s feel better.
The thing is, Mugino brute forces anything so she gets clapped by sheer strategy. Shokuhou might be physically weaker than her but she'll not give chase to Hamazura in that fight. I mean she won against a Kihara while Mugino kept giving chase even when she lost her eye.

How did Accelerator not die to the grenade to the head as well as Amata's punches? Did Amata just not use the bubbles in blood vessels technique against him or was it not possible because he had to account for the reflection so he couldn't do it? (Or is it because Kamachi did not think about it yet so it was not introduced?)
Accelerator gets durability boost in angel form. With white wings he basically tanked without vector shield multicontinent level attack. I think that's similar to how Saints are superhumans because of Telesma.

At the end of the day, many of these guys are just still people, yes they are some of the strongest, but that doesn't negate their inherent flaws and weaknesses

一方通行のベクトル操作は触れている物体にしか作用しない。だから触れていなければただの物理現象と変わらない。だから確実に敵を倒すには直接触れて殺すのが一番なのだ。

木原とか杉谷みたいに反射を利用してくる奴相手でも接近戦を仕掛けるからを合理性を考えてるわけじゃないと思うよ。
とあセラとかイサク戦以外ほぼ舐めプしてるしそう言う性格なんだろ。
てか禁書でアクセラレータが戦った相手って大体が接近戦に持ち込まないと勝てなかった相手じゃね？

IB negates the ability but not the physical effects. DM abilities allow him to transmute matter into another which cannot be reverted back to it's previous state. He also is harder to counter once he gets into dark matter clones network which is all the same abilities as himself.
