Loved it!!!! How lush and green was that!?!?! 😁 Thank you, that was such a wonderful escape. I’m so glad to know someone sent you some money to replace the bottle of sherry that was sacrificed in the previous video 🤗 💕I hope that you guys have a remarkable summer adventure to make up for all the lockdown time that you were kept in the one place xxx
Thanks Karen, We love this time of year with the deep lush colours of all the foliage, and we are enjoying every moment of cruising after being in one place for so long
Hi hope your both ok and Alfie and Bonny are in good health, well you both done it again, you brought us back some wonderful memories of the Shroppie it’s beautiful canal and we know your going to enjoy it as much as we did, well Mark what can I say about you forgetting again to push the on button poor Debbie just can’t leave you alone for five minutes 😂 🤪, and we enjoy you waving your hands round it wouldn’t be you if you didn’t, have great week love to you both x❤️
Thanks you pair.❤️ You'd think after 18 months I would have got the hang of this filming malarky 🤣😂. Did you ever do the Llangollen? (teaser as to where we're heading)
So jealous. Your comments about the quiet peaceful countryside is what I loved most about narrowboating. I wonder if you could give us a little less background music and more of the natural sounds associated with canal life, like the birds and the swish of the water. That's what makes the experience so enjoyable.
Thanks Peter, its just the way I edit, there are some fantastic narrowboat channels out there that concentrate more on what you are asking for, an new channel I could recommend is this one ua-cam.com/video/p4joBRORHec/v-deo.html
One of the best places in the UK, I am still staying at the flat. Not been to the boat for a good 3 months so your vlogs keep me happy to see the cut, even if I can not get there to visit. Thank You All! What! No Gin? Hugs for all.
Great video. I love the editing. Good pace and shows the beauty of the countryside. And don’t worry about moving your hands around. We are watching because we like you two. Don’t change for any one.
Morning Mark & Debs. Another great video. As someone else said we also follow Colin & Shaun. It's Saturday evening here in Christchurch New Zealand a cool 3 degrees as winter hits. Enjoy your weekend and safe travels. Patrick & Debbie
Great to see you out cruising. Stunning scenery and obviously great weather. Lots of pointy fingers this week and you can use your hands to talk as it’s your vlog. Lol. Lovely to see you laughing together. Thanks for making my Friday!!! Hugs 👍😎❤️🇨🇦💕
We've been fortunate with the shelf where we've moored our tyre fenders have been just big enough, but there's sections we've passed and you can see you would need tyres twice the size of ours. Hope you and Christy are both well and your Bourbon and Tea stocks haven't dropped to dangerously low levels over lockdown❤️
Well Deck Diaries We’ve both been working crazy hours and the bourbon almost barely gets touched unless we have guests (since I never have more than a taste regardless), so there’s been very little impact to that side of things. And now that we’ve started hitting our summer temps in the 90s, Christy’s tea consumption will be lower, as well. We have our first excursion (that’s not to a grocery store for a pickup or just a drive around without getting out of the car) since the first week of March today - our zoo is reopening all the viewing outside areas (excepting things like the herpequaurium, playground and any gathering areas) to members in 100/hour batches with advance reservations and masks, etc. We are in the 3rd batch of the day at 11:30 (so no more than 298 other non-staff in the place by then even if no one has left and we’re the last in our group). This should be a fairly safe opportunity to get outside when it’s not just for some sort of chore :)
Hey guys stumbled on your channel a few weeks back. You are very easy to watch and to make sense of. If your ever in Herts or essex just shout and whatever you need is yours.
Annnnnd there's Deb, throwing Mark under the bus, again!. Keep your head up Mark. You've got my admiration for being part of a great team. I sensed a bit of sadness that the Bridge Inn was closed, and then I felt it too. I'm looking forward to your review of the next "Right Nice Pint."
Love watching your videos am so wanting to vacation aboard a narrow boat once we get back to somewhat normal, have a lot to learn live in Massachusetts love the laid back life style
Good to see you again obviously happy to be moving again, no Sherry disasters..............,thought you join me in a Gin and Tonic as I watched all you did record . Stay safe, stay happy . Cheers from Canada
But, Debbie, did Brewood have a candlestick maker?! You two are so much fun! Enjoyed the cruising video! Good seeing the pups, lounging on their movable outdoor sofa!
Love that pointing!! Glad you are able to move along the canals and still get the services like water and laundry and shopping. I enjoy the filming and the slow speed that your narrow boat travels. I find I get a little motion sick when they speed up so much, so I have to look away. Watching this the last day of August and feel like I have had a bit of a vacation through your travels. :)
Ah...another great video! I so enjoy the time you both take in sharing your little part of the world. I especially enjoy seeing how green it is. Living in Northern California all I see at this time of the year is my drought ridden yard. I refuse to spend big $$ on watering my lawn.
Again fab video. The bridge you said was nice is known locally as fancy bridge and I used to ride my horse there as a girl. It is on the Chillington estate Brewood. You reminded me of lovely summer days when I was a girl living close by. Enjoy the Shroppie it is a really nice canal.
Hi Mark and Deb. Lovely vlog 👍. I have to say, I agree with Deb - the bridge may be narrow for a canal boat, but I like the bridge! I don't think I've ever forgotten to press the record button, but the amount of times I've left the microphone switched off...!!! Stay safe both, GWR
I find your videos so relaxing and fun. You and Deb are wonderful people and while it's unlikely that I will ever get to meet the two of you, I feel like your friends.
Friday is Canal boat day - First we get Colin and Shawn then we get Debs and Mark. Helped to get us through our lockdown since the beginning of March, here in Spain.
You’re so lucky cruising guys , we saw our boat on Alan’s narrowboat venture in Crick marina earlier this week . 230 mile round trip for a day far too long for us 🙁 Hopefully be on the boat soon . Keep the vlogs coming. Cheers, Kev C
Hi guys thanks for that, seen you twice now as you feature on boating beyond as well. I'm gonna tackle a job I've been putting off for so long which is to install solar on the boat. I took the Swamp Duck out this week which was great. Take care guys. Alan.
Wish you had run back to the market place, and we-shot your footage, would have loved to have seen that...nice to see you travelling again though...can't wait for the next vlog.
You are a wealth of knowledge Mark......the wheelbarrow wheel is a useful trick to remember. Glad you're doing the Shroppie now. We did it in September and those beautiful glades became rat runs for huge numbers of horse flies which we awful! Great vlog as always and love the humour between you two. You are a tonic to be sure. Have a great week. X
Another great vlog. Looks a beautiful canal. Avidly taking notes, for decent mooring spots etc, to add to my aged Nicholsons guide for when we head up that way. Stay safe guys. X
Lovely canal, shame the pubs are shut. Ice cream and good fish and chips available a Gnosal, good luck with that pronunciation. Beware the water point at Tyrely locks was broken all of last year, so don’t rely on it. The best pork pies ever are available at the farm shop (honesty box) on your left side near the top of the Audlem flight. Love your videos.
At last! You are on a canal I not only have the Nicholson for, but we have actually travelled. In the opposite direction a few years back, while we were doing the Four Counties Ring. Absolutely fabulous. It would have been closed, of course, but you could get cosmic ice cream at that little shop next to Autherley Stop Lock. You've got a few miles and bridges (hardly any locks) to do, but don't forget to film the 'High Bridge, bridge 39, the one with the telegraph pole in the middle of it! I only mention it, because its on a reverse bend and you can easily miss it. About a mile after Norbury Juction. Smashing vlog, good to see you cruisin' again.
The country view is great and is the water still clear as you pass other boats. I was expecting a picture of a shark swimming past your boat in the night seen. Keep up the great vids
A lovely cruise guys... Gorgeous scenery and beautiful stone bridges... Deb I think you need to paint the record button bright red... lol... Keepm safe and waiting for the next one..
Thanks for another lovely vlog keep your hands and pointy finger indicating to us what's what then we know exactly where everything is Mark. You both do a great job on your vlogs so please carry on doing what you both do. Take care and all the best. Stevie
My husband Jim and I were fishing on an area lake yesterday and I asked him to pull the boat into the Lilly pads so I could cut some flowers. As you can imagine how a boat handles in Lilly pads, he was not too happy pulling weeds off the prop. I wonder if you have ever saw some beautiful wild flowers along the way and asked to pullover just to grab a couple to have in the boat?
Another great vlog, and great to be getting cruising g vlogs again! The very high, rather ornate bridge, was Avenue Bridge, which leads to Chillington Hall, and so had to be "posh"! Pity you didn't come south on the Staffs & Words, where we're moored, but we're very familiar with the Shroppie, having been moored on the S&W for 16 years and you'll love it! If the Anchor at High.Offley is re-openned when you pass, its well worth a visit!!👍👍
Great stuff guys. We're looking at doing a narrow boat cruise next year if we can travel. The Shropshire canal looks like a good one? As for the misshap with the recording🤯. The saying the sprinklers on but there's a kink in the hose comes to mind. Cheers from NZ 👍🍻
Did athe 4 counties ring going up the shroppie many years ago so thanks for sharing this beautiful vlog again.thanks again best wishes wish I was cruising now but can’t yet.x
Hi we did the Llangollen twice over the years on Hampshire Rose 🌹 it’s such a beautiful canal we just had to do it again, can’t wait to see your video of you going over the Aqueduct Debbie make sure he pushes the record button 😂 when you go over it 😂😂😂
Love the stillness. What tea do you drink? Mine I’d P G TIPS. have decaf before bed. But regular during the day. Of course it has to be white and no sugar. Thanks to my friend Marie from Canvey Island.
We love, love, love the Shroppie. Thanks for the ride. I’m lobbed in the bath, having just got permission to continuously cruise and going out on the water Thursday 18th. 🤪🤪🤪
Will keep watching your journey up the Shropshire do you intend to go all the way or divert to Llangollen we have our tourer caravan on seasonal pitch few hundreds yards from Grindley Brooke locks the site reopens 4th July like yourselves biting at the bit to get going
I don't think you're too bad. I did have one person who was waving their hands all over the place and I couldn't focus at all on what she was saying!!!!
Lovely to see you so happy 😃 and Mark should carry on waving his arms around his is just talking with them, it’s part of his charms!! Debs you need to put a note on the camera saying “I record better switched ON “ . I am glad that you found a use for the PayPal amount, have fun for the rest of the week until we catch up again. Xx
Deborah Hockley Yes Frances is my first name, Dale is the name that has been carried on through the female side of my family. Love your vlogs and the look into your life which is so different to mine on the Isle of Wight (Queen Victoria still lives here) life down here is gently slow.
🤣🤣 I so love the fact you use sell by dates as your excuse for grazing and how efficient you are at it. That really made me laugh. Debs you always set me off. It’s great. As for the hand waving, you carry on talking with them as much as you want. Bet if we made you sit on them whilst talking you wouldn’t be able to. My father used to be exactly the same. Stay safe. 🙏🏻🤗
Wave away!! I agree about the smiling faces and a little dance or two as well. Enjoy your vlogs. Deb, how about more cooking with Mark supervising and drinking the wine to make sure it is all right to cook with. Your video quality is good Mark when you turn the camera on. Do you have a drone as well?
You look so happy to be back out in the countryside. We are going to save all our washing now as by the time we get to Brewood the pubs should be open and we will have to sit there all day!! Rich says he couldn't understand you all the time. Could you use your hands a bit more please. 👍👎👏🙌👐🤝👊🖐️✋🤚👋🤘🤙🤞🖖☝️👆👉👈👇. 👌
@@welldeckdiaries5610 When its gloomy I see the red light is not flashing on the GoPro, and check it out, but when it is bright and sunny, the perfect conditions I cannot see if it is flashing, as it is too bright, or my eyes need turning up lol
Hi Mark I know you know your stuff but which inverter would you recommend for a leisure boat as I am refitting our boat out and any advise you can offer would help. Thanks 😊
Have a look at this vlog and the inverter I fitted, there is a link in the video description for the inverter. Its been running 24/7 since I installed it and I would highly recommend this range of inverters ua-cam.com/video/FV_b9_KJFdQ/v-deo.html
Helen Buckley Yeswe do, it wasn’t a deal breaker when looking for a boat but it can get you out of a muddle on a windy day. I was advised not to rely on it and learn to do all the manoeuvres like mooring, winding and reversing without it, which i have done. Its nice to know its there if you need it👍
Thanks for getting back so promptly, is just that we are seeing Collingwood boats tomorrow for maybe having a narrowboat built, only reason, we can't get what we want on the secondhand market, really difficult....do you know anything about Collingwood boats, your advise would be greatly appreciated. We live in lovely Watton in Norfolk by the way 😑 we have watched you from the very start of your journey and we cant wait to start ours! Take care Helen 😁
A QUESTION: I UNDERSTAND THE ASHBY CANAL HAS A LONG STRETCH WITHOUT ANY LOCKS, GOING TO ITS NORTH END. DO ANY OTHERS HAVE A FEW LOCKS? DOES THE UNION CANAL HAVE MANY? ALSO, CAN YOU HAVE A LARGER WATER OR FUEL TANK THAN THE USUAL SIZE?
The Ashby has no locks along its entire length. If you check out the CRT website it will give you all the info you need for each canal. There is no usual size for water tanks, they all vary from 300 litres to over 1000 litre. (ours is 450 Litres) fuel tanks vary in size too
Enjoyed riding along with you folks. Always a pleasure!
Our pleasure!

Ha Ha, its a good job me and you don't work as a team, nothing from me and silent movies from you 🤣
I find your videos so relaxing and fun. You and Deb are wonderful people and while it's unlikely that I will ever get to meet the two of you, I feel like your friends.
When people do meet us its like catching up with old friends that we've never met 👍
Friday is Canal boat day - First we get Colin and Shawn then we get Debs and Mark. Helped to get us through our lockdown since the beginning of March, here in Spain.
And knowing that people like yourselves enjoy our vids has got us through lockdown ❤️
Doing the exact same from Spain!!!
You’re so lucky cruising guys , we saw our boat on Alan’s narrowboat venture in Crick marina earlier this week . 230 mile round trip for a day far too long for us 🙁 Hopefully be on the boat soon . Keep the vlogs coming. Cheers, Kev C
Wow that would be a bit of a trek😩
Lovely video, always happy and cheerful x

Aw. I would have loved to have seen the Market Square. Thanks Mark! I liked the bridges and all the other scenery, so you're forgiven. 😉
That dam record button 🤣😂
Will keep watching your journey up the Shropshire do you intend to go all the way or divert to Llangollen we have our tourer caravan on seasonal pitch few hundreds yards from Grindley Brooke locks the site reopens 4th July like yourselves biting at the bit to get going
The plan is to do the Llangollen, but we are waiting to find out if the Welsh section's going to be open
Cheers guys just excellent
Thanks 👍
We need hand movement along with sitting order, ryte nyce pynt, pointy finger and Debs laughing they are vlog traditions.
We'll have to get contracts drawn up 😂🤣
Ditto!
I don't think you're too bad. I did have one person who was waving their hands all over the place and I couldn't focus at all on what she was saying!!!!
Sorry to say it guys but the dogs continue to steal the show! They look like they are the navigators! Hahaha!
I'll have to set them up their own channel ❤️
Well Deck Diaries will you be upset if they get more subscribers than you?? Lol
Great vlog. Hope to get to the Shroppie this summer so glad to see your trip first b
Have fun! will you be travelling North to South to South to North?
North to south and hopefully Llangollen if Wales opens up in time !
Great vlog. Keep them coming. I love the giggling.
Theres load of giggling that ends up on the cutting room floor 🤣😂🤣😂
Thanks guys 😁👌👍❤️
Our pleasure!
Xx
Thanks Dale 🍷, Debbies done well with this bottle, she hasn't spilled a drop 😂🤣
Again thankyou muchly Dale 😊just want to add I love the name Frances is that your first name ? Debbie x
Stay safe. 🙏🏻🤗
They crazy thing is, I didn't realise I wave my hand about so much until I started editing my vids 👋👋
Seriously it’s not a problem. It’s part of the lovely you. 👌
Wave away!! I agree about the smiling faces and a little dance or two as well. Enjoy your vlogs. Deb, how about more cooking with Mark supervising and drinking the wine to make sure it is all right to cook with. Your video quality is good Mark when you turn the camera on. Do you have a drone as well?
thanks Sheila,
Yes I do have a drone and now we are in the county I'll get a lot more footage with it👍
Another feel good video 👍
Glad you enjoyed
Great vlog, very enjoyable! On average, how far apart are the winding holes? Thanks!
every 4 to 5 miles
You look so happy to be back out in the countryside. We are going to save all our washing now as by the time we get to Brewood the pubs should be open and we will have to sit there all day!! Rich says he couldn't understand you all the time. Could you use your hands a bit more please. 👍👎👏🙌👐🤝👊🖐️✋🤚👋🤘🤙🤞🖖☝️👆👉👈👇. 👌
Absobloodlylutely loving it, 👍👍🏾👊👊🏾👌🏻👌🏾🤘🏻🤘🏿🤛🏾🤜🏼👋🏻👋🏾❤️
Mark, you should see all the footage I haven't taken as well. I blame it on the gopro lol
Ha Ha, its nice to know I'm not the only one Trev👍
@@welldeckdiaries5610 When its gloomy I see the red light is not flashing on the GoPro, and check it out, but when it is bright and sunny, the perfect conditions I cannot see if it is flashing, as it is too bright, or my eyes need turning up lol
Hi Mark I know you know your stuff but which inverter would you recommend for a leisure boat as I am refitting our boat out and any advise you can offer would help. Thanks 😊
Have a look at this vlog and the inverter I fitted, there is a link in the video description for the inverter. Its been running 24/7 since I installed it and I would highly recommend this range of inverters

Well Deck Diaries cheers Mark it’s going to be a busy time for me all advice welcome 👍
Cheers Mark just purchased one form Amazon 👍
Hello guys, quick question...do you have a bowthruster? Many thanks 😁
No chugging of the gas motor ! Is it electric? Love the drone shots !
What our boat? Its a 2.5litre diesel
Numpty Mark again ..... now we're all going to be wondering what we could have seen.😲😢😏
🤣
We certainly enjoy your vlogs Mark and Deborah. You two love birds have shared some great adventures. Stay safe and motor on.☕🇺🇸
Mark ! You had one job 🎥😉
I'd love to see a beer bottle label that said ...
Enjoy this brew , brewed in Brewood .
Maybe one day!🍺🍺
Regarding the water points do you have a map with these on?
Yes the Nicholson guide books show them, also a phone app called Open Canal Map.
Oh! Forgot to say I live near bridge 51 on the Shropshire union canal.
New Brighton Bridge
You two crack me up!!!
good 🤣😂🤣😂👍
A Nastie Trio, 3 Little Piglets, wallowed away a Withering HOT Summers Afternoon, a"rolling in the Mud-Hole.
Love and Huggles
😃
(ours is 450 Litres) fuel tanks vary in size too
@@welldeckdiaries5610 SO, YOU COULD HAVE A BOAT THAT WAS TALLER IF YOU JUST PUT IT IN THE ASHBY?
So nice to see you on the move! What happened with your veggie patch?
There for every one else to enjoy👍
