I’ve had my Wii U for probably 3-4 years now and I never knew that you could boot straight to the vWii menu by holding b on the game pad...

You can also hold b on a wiimote to do this.

Great tutorial! After years of trying to get Homebrew on my Virtual wii (wii on wii u) I finally found your video!!
LifeOfLuigi I tried this and it didn’t work for me. I already have a folder on my SD titled wiiu because I watched Jacks last video on how to homebrew the Wii U itself. So I named the original one I had to wiiu1 and when I tried launching homebrew it said failed and said the payload was not failed to I named it back to wiiu and the new wiiu folder to wiiu1 and homebrew launched but no app other than the homebrew store was there. So idk what to do lol
@@daltonstout7962 ik this is way late but you shouldve had just one wiiu folder instead of a wiiu and wiiu1 folder.

[Edit: The homebrewing process of the vWii menu also works with a Wii remote WITH Wii MotionPlus inside! I Tried it myself bc I don't have any other controllers without Wii MotionPlus inside!]

I recommend to do this if u want nintendont (plays gc games), then install a forwarder on the wii u so u can use the wii u gamepad to play those gamecube games. (The forwarder is also good since you dont have to go directly to vwii to access nintendont)

I would keep Multi-Mod Manager, you might wanna install more wads from there such as WiiWare, Virtual Console, etc.
Can you explain again what you mentioned at around 4:02 ? You talked about how you don't have a sensor bar so you some how used the Wii U Gamepad as a sensor bar.
Can you explain how you did it (it was a little hard to understand you)?
Also, is there a way to do this without a Wii Mote at all? All I have is the Wii U, Gamepad, and some Pro Controllers.
1. the wii u gamepad has a built in sensor bard where it's camera is
2. you can't use the wii menu on the wii u without a wiimote, the system won't let you boo into it without on

Hi Jack. I have a question. I've modded my wii u according to your video, which worked perfectly. Nut when it came to mod the vwii, everytime I open Multi-mod manager the Wiimote closes, and if I try to restart it, the blue light keeps flashing till the end of the world comes. Any ideas as to why this might be?

Make sure you are using a wiimote WITHOUT MOTION PLUS INSIDE! Thats how i got it to work with the same problem

Hello Jack, I got a question. when I try to start the multi mod manager in the Vwii I can't connect my wii remote with the console anymore so I can't select the wad manager.

Unfortunately, you can only use standard non-motion plus Wii remotes with certain homebrew apps.

Stephen Arevalo so it’s like installing gamecube games as Wii U games so, basically a gamecube game turned into a Wii U readable file
Install a forwarder and launch cfw before using it, this will let you use the gamepad

I got a questiom: I was thinking about getting homebrew on my wii but I only have Wii motes with Motion Plus Inside. Does that mean I really can't get/use homebrew at all or does the Motion Plus only not work with a few small things ?
Mine had motion plus inside and it still worked for me, but I did it on a wii u. To my understanding, I heard some apps dont work with motion plus but I cant tell why that is.

Try to use a controller that doesn't has motion plus, that should work.
There's no way around it, you have to use an older wii remote without the motion plus inside. That's just how it is. They're super cheap because no one except people modding a wii (or vwii) want them.

Can you fit all of these Home brew things on one 32G SD card? I mean as, if I have everything like Smash Mods and N64 and GameCube em. Would they all work? Or should I get a separate SD card for each app?
Truegamer02 you should be able to fit all of those on one sd card, but it kinda depends on what you download. Everything you mentioned other than Smash Bros. mods will 100% work, but if you download smash mods that take more than probably 20 gigabytes of space, then they won’t work. If the smash mods you’re downloading are a smaller size than around 20GB then DON’T get a separate SD card.

Im not too worried about space, im just more concerned will the files still read if there was other junk on it. Other junk as in, if I load GameCube, if it sees N64.... Will it ignore it and only read Ganecube
Truegamer02 the way GameCube and n64 work on Wii U are completely different. GameCube is read by putting physical discs in the console (you still have to homebrew for this though, to get the Wii U to read the GameCube discs) and n64 runs on the vWii, no cartridges required. So to answer your other question, no, the emulators won’t overlap each other and you can use both on the same SD card.
This still works in 2022 I even got it to play gamecube games thanks for the help

thx for doing up to date videos and a web sites, cos i didn't found my Hard drive with my wii backups in WBFS so i have to start from scratch and it was like since the xbox one and PS4 that i didn't play on it. it will useful for me only for wii and GC backups, as nowadays nintendo ported every major exclusives they got to switch... lol

Jack i dont know if you know this but all Wii games can be installed directly to the Wii U's home screen, along with gamecube, snes, and N64.

You have a fantastic video. Just wandering, how do you keep the WiiU from asking to Format your external Hard drive each time? I'm using that particular external hard drive for my Wii and GameCube games on the vWii via USB loader GX but I have no idea how to stop the WiiU from asking me to format every single time, before I get to the vWii.

Awesome guide thank you so much I managed to get some roms and load a game finally! But how do i control the game? I am unable to control mario party 3 on the nintendo 64 emulator with the wii u remote
I’m getting to the part with the multi mode manager to change the aspect ratio but whenever it loads up the Wiimote appears to turn off and I’m unable to navigate the menu to make the change. Pressing the buttons on the wiimote doesn’t turn it back on and when I pop the battery out and back in it’ll turn on but doesn’t connect to allow me to navigate the menu.
wtf am I doing wrong?
It’s not a battery problem either, the batteries are brand new.
My wiimote disconnects when i Lauch multimod Manager... Does anyone know why that happens?
@Michael S It's because some homebrew apps dont work with the Wii motion plus addon, such as the multi-mod manager.

@@SHADSTER1 i dont know if it still works because i deleted the wuphax backup with the mii channel in it... now i dont have a mii channel but homebrew works perfectly
if you follow this guide it works perfectly, you go back and restore the mii channel by pressing B In wuphax after you are finished doing everything else..

hey, thx for the tutorial, i also watched other tutorials and they said that if you try to install normal wad files that work on normal wiis will brick the vwii. is it true? if yes, is there a way to make them not brick the vwii? and if i use the wiiu transfer tool on my previous wii, will it also copy the channels i had? will it break the vwii?
How did you put the homebrew app with the H on there? Link me to the video explaining how to do that or can you perhaps explain pls? I’m almost there and I’m slightly lost at this part. I went into the homebrew launcher via the Internet browser and tried to download the app onto the Wii u menu but it still didn’t appear. What am I doing wrong?

Hey.. When i try to open the 'Multi Mod Manager,' My WII remote turns off and just starts blinking.. Meaning i can't go up or go down. Any solutions?
At the bottom of the wii remote it should just say "wii", if it says "wii motion plus inside" then you can't use it in some of the homebrew apps required for this setup. As far I can tell, once you have completed setting this up you can use any wii remote you want and it works fine. It's just the setup software that needs the older ones. Borrow one if you don't want to shell out the massive $8 price tag that these old relics command on the used market.

Yooooo, does it really? That's awesome. I can't CFW my wii u due to a ban but this is a big help knowing that I can use the browser instead.
When I turn on my modded wii u and hold b to go to vwii automatically I instead get transfered to choose payload. What files do I need to remove or replace on my SD card in order to boot into vwii by holding down b when powering on my wii u.

Hi, How do you convert your ds games to your computer? Since there are no roms anymore since Nintendo took them down (which I get). I just want to play my ds games on my computer and also move the camera around freely to see if there are any undiscovered secrets out of camera. Especially in Mario party ds since the camera is so controlled. Also, the roms will not be posted on any site.
