I love this plane, I flew it again last night, my first low light flight...... I have to say, for me, even though I'm a complete beginner, this plane has been far more helpful in learning to fly than my one session on the apprentice trainer..... this plane flies beautifully, but a bit more of a challenge and more capable than a trainer to keep things interesting, and to me that's what I love about it.

Thanks for the great videos and advice you give us. After many many years of helicopter pilot I wanted to try my hand at piloting a plane. I tried the Cirrus V1 (blue) and a second hand radio dx7, I was delighted with the realistic flight and also low speed with 50% flap help .... but also in aerobatic flight it does well. The improved V2 certainly more performing. A really good plane. Greetings from Italy.
Brian, Megan. Y’all are spot on. I would like to add, If you can put it in your budget, get a RealFlight simulator and fly fly fly with the sim especially when the weather doesn’t permit flying outside. It will pay you dividends honing those pilot skills. The best part of a sim is if and when you crash, you just tap the reset button at no additional cost. Buddy boxing is great too if you have the opportunity to go to a club flying field. I personally taught myself how to fly by using high wing trainers and the sim. Just keep at it and don’t beat yourself up when you crash. Keep at it and one day it will just click for you. 👍😉
Absolutely, and around here, we get a lot of bad weather days, during winter, in particular. We fly in CRAP weather, since we can come right inside after we're done sweating or freezing our tails off...but when you have to load up and drive there and back - this enhances the impacts of poor weather....simulators can and do help a lot, but when I was new, I didn't get anything out of it...only frustration. It was like using drugs without any high - LOL ;) I felt it was too easy to walk away from the PC or the Cell Phone, and just move onto something else...but again, that's just my experience. I would kill for an Eflite twin 64mm 767. Yes it would be enormous, but I think the scale performance would be right on, and they could go full Draco-style with the lights and scale details. A fella can dream!
Hi Brian I’m from Venezuela and really like your content, actually is because of a great camera crew you got there. I don’t know if you plan to do a 50 things about you, or at least a video that your community can know you a little more. Another thing is, why you have never tried nitro airplanes or gassers. Here in Venezuela we fly mostly nitro and gassers, but the thing that the fuel is always more difficult to get, you’ll see more electrics in the field. But man, when you fly a fuel-based aircraft, the feeling is GOD
I wonder if they will release the blue version again in the future? I am new in the hobby less than 2 months and somehow already have a few planes so the last thing I probably needed to do was buy another plane but after watching some other videos of this and the Cherokee, I personally felt like the Cherokee was right for me and a touch less expensive as well. Maybe I'll pick up a Cirrus down the road to be a hangar mate to the Cherokee as I also love general aviation and realistic looking and flying airplanes. The fleet includes an FMS 1220 Ranger and it's twin step brother the BlueJay, and the Arrows Trekker and Tecnam 2010. Still boxed up and in wait as later graduate planes I have the 1400 FMS Sky Trainer 182 and the HSDJets 2 meter version in red. I LOVE 182 Cessna's! I am a high wing guy so the Cherokee will be my first low wing plane. Maybe next spring, I'd like to get a T-28 in the hangar as well as an XFly Twin Nova if I can find one. My Ranger and I think the Tecnam 2010 both have floats and I am looking forward to trying takeoffs and landings in my in-laws large pond soon for a new aspect to the hobby. Love your channel and all of the great content and camera crew's recordings are some of the best I have seen. Kudos!
Thanks, and congrats on a large fleet of amazing planes for only a couple months deep in the hobby!!! Keep at it, and you're right, the Cherokee is easier flying than the Cirrus SR22t, but the nose gear is less forgiving on the Cherokee, so make sure you're putting her down on the nose gear. Are for bringing back the blue, generally once a plane is "discontinued" they don't ever really make one in that same livery. There are some strange exceptions, like the recently re-released P-47 V2 ( P-47 alnk.to/7X2KL7a ), but since it's one of the only times we've seen it, I would make plans to pain the RED one if you can't live without the blue finish ;) bprc.me/Cherokee bprc.me/CirrusSR22T
@@BrianPhillipsRC I agree the Cirrus is arguably the sexier and sportier choice, but I felt like I would do better for now with the larger, deeper wing shape of the Cherokee and it's slow flying characteristics. I'll focus on landing on the mains which is what my other tricycle gear planes are teaching me. I had one incident with the Ranger so far which has already taught me all about the use of hot glue, toothpicks and even servo replacement, lol. Having a blast so far.
Hi Brian, first off I love your video's, can you do one on how you fly low and slow. I am watching you fly the Cirrus and it very cool to be able to do that. I have been practicing with my Apprentice STS but it is not as easy as you make it look. Keep up the great stuff-thanks
With lots of practice this comes pretty easy. The key is to keep the plane flying...meaning, keep the nose pointed where you want to head...so if you turn, use lots of ruder to keep the nose from pointing UP. Also, when you slow down, get into the takeoff flaps, and when you slow down more, use landing flaps. Most people don't play with flaps unless they're landing, but they're a huge part of slow flying. Also, be very cautious of how fast a plane can get out of the hole and respect it by getting into throttle earlier than later, when you think you might be entering into a stall. One last thing, make sure you're leading the plane when you fly low...you will be flying near obstructions, so make sure you're looking about 5-10 degrees in front of the plane. You have to switch back and forth from the plane to in front of the plane, and this too comes with practice, and flying known locations helps a lot too. You can do it, but just remember, it's a higher consequence style of flying.
@@edwardlistander2961 I would add one more thing, which is get the plane up high, cut the throttle and hold the nose up until it stalls, with and without flaps, straight and in turns. This will show you how it behaves in a stall, and what speed it stalls at. To get out of the stall just point the nose down and add power.
Thanks, and I guess where there's a will, there's a way...might be kinda sketch, but you can most definitely do it. BE CAREFUL! Don't cut your fingers off!
Older video but still wanted to know as I watch this if I can install squishy tires on it for my husbands first plane I'm in the middle of super timber 2.0 or 1.5 cirrus for realism that plane in the rain pretty much sold it for me
Hey Brian, you mentioned you used to do videos of adding lights to planes but not so much these days. Have you considered adding lights to the new (blue) mPd Commander? If you ever choose to do a lights video again, the Commander would be my vote. Great video as usual!
I used to do it all the time. It's pretty easy in real life, but a huge pain to film... I steal BEC power from the Aileron servo wires, and then run an led on the wingtips. Tail lite was a must too, so I'd pass some motor windings wire through the fuse and really keep the weight down. This works well, and for that wire, I'd just tap an unused bind plug, rearranging the pins (sockets) to line up with +V and GND rather than SIG and GND
I don't really have a top ten - but I have far too many planes that I love, and can't fly, since I can't find time to fly them ;( Good problem to have, I realize, but Jospeph said it right, the T-28 Trojan would be on the top 10 ;)
Great presentation and explanation of the evolution of your interest in the hobby. There are so many planes you review that are tempting, including this one. Would you consider sharing thoughts on collecting a “quiver” of planes that is reasonable size and covers the spectrum of different flying experiences that are out there? Perhaps a half dozen aimed at intermediate (or different perhaps different quivers for beginner intermediate and advanced pilots) pilots? Thanks!
There are so many factors people use to judge one plane, let alone a whole fleet ;) I could suggest a beginner plane, but beyond that, everyone has such different taste as they progress, it'd be a crap shoot.
I would vote for the Apprentice. The Cirrus is an amazing plane, but it's faster to fly/harder to land than an Apprentice. Plus, the beautiful scale details are going to be more work to fix in the inevitable bumps and bruises of a new pilot. The Cirrus as a 3rd or 4th plane... definitely! Good luck! bprc.me/Apprentice bprc.me/CirrusSR22T
Yes, but sometimes you will notice a decline in performance. Check the motor for over-heating if in doubt. Smaller will sometimes make the plane FASTER...I know, sounds counter-intuitive as heck, but you'll have to try it out!
Hi Brian, Thanks for everything you and your wife are doing for the hobby! I have a question about trimming a plane. Do you have a rule of thumb on when you manually adjust the trim after you have trimmed it with the radio? For example, if the radio trim is plus/minus 10, do you then make an adjustment to the control horn? I am working within an AS3X environment. And then I assume you should let the plane do the “dance” after the adjustment to recognize the change? Thank you!
I think most will prefer the Cirrus, since it's more powerful and feature packed, but the Cherokee will fly more forgivingly, slower, and will also look amazing in a relaxing sunset flight. I want both. Hands down...these are a couple of my favorite planes.
Sweet plane. Got a quick question what would you suggest umx timber x or umx Pitts? I am a novice/intermediate pilot. No 3d pilot. But want to have for advancement. I will end up with both, but what one to get first. Thanks for the info
Hi Brian, 25 minutes flight time is impressive. do you think, that the cherokee can do the same flight time on a 3200 4s? which of the planes is more stable? cirrus or cherokee? also to me it seems the cirrus is much quieter especially on full throttle. is it because of the 3 blade propeller vs. the 2 bladed propeller of the cherokee? thanks!
Do you think that the new eflite Corsair could be a 3rd plane? Videos I’ve seen on it make it seem like it can fly slow and fast and looks fairly easy(ish) to fly, or am I wrong? Love your videos!
I know this is an older video of the Cirrus v2 and you may not reply, but here goes. I appreciate your honesty about the Cherokee vs the Cirrus, but which is better for rough grass ops? I would love to get the cirrus but this video showed that it doesn’t seem to work well on grass. Is the Cherokee any better? Thanks Brian, and Happy New Year!
Never mind Brian. I just watched your review of the Cherokee and you clearly emphasized that it is not good for tanking off on grass unless you are on golf course style grass due to the low propeller clearance. Oh well! I guess I am out of luck for getting either one. Rats 😢
Working on it ;) We have a drum mower ;) We've had two straight years of drought, which has been very good for the weeds, but very bad for grass - LOL ;)
Love the Cirrus and the Cherokee, but my car says no... we do have the T-28 1.1m and 1.2m, I do not want to take the wings on and off from the Cirrus or Cherokee... that is why I like the Apprentice STS and Turbo Timber Evolution so much, wings come off and on so easily...
So different planes... BUT probably the Twin Beechcraft, since it's a more expensive plane. It's also going to give a similar SCALE flight experience, but you can also add in AEROBATICS like crazy, if you wish. bprc.me/Beechcraft bprc.me/CirrusSR22T
I have a bigfoot it's a great plane it's one of my favorites I own. I have a Aeroscout as well and love the bigfoot better. It's super easy to fly and once u get good the bigfoot is a hot rod on 4s battery
@@BrianPhillipsRC if you look at the too holes in the cowl there are two foam plugs that some say to remove for airflow. At one time horizon has said to remove them but some say to leave them. I would say leave them out for esc cooling. Wanted to know your thoughts.
It is amazing. I'd seriously consider it if you're interested. Keep in mind, long, narrow wings do make it harder to fly than some other similar General Aviation aircraft, like the Cherokee. Keep your speed up on landings, and you'll love it. If you try to slow down too much, she will tend to slip out of the air if you're turning in final. Good luck! Hello Brian, I want to purchase a new plane, looking at cirrus or Cherokee, I'm still a rookie, I fly a carbon cub now, which plane would you suggest? Thank you and camera crew for a great channel
Hi brian, i had a question. Fly its beter with a 3200mah 4s of a 2200mah 4s? And fly it realy 26 min at 3200mah 4s? Thats great!! i want also the viper 70mm but the cirrus is so cool with his scale leds and stuf! I mainly fly in the evenings. That's why I thought the Cirrus was a bit more fun to fly at a nice scale. And than the viper is maby a little hard to see. Greets from the Netherlands! 😊
Happy Holidays to you and your family. I’m seriously considering getting this aircraft. However, I need your advice. I’m just back into the hobby after 10 years away (Man have things changed). I have a UMX Turbo Timber to shake off all my rust.. but I’m looking for a good second plane which can be a stable flyer yet bore holes in the sky when I get my flying legs back. Would you recommend this plane for me? Be brutal as needed.. I’m pretty thick skinned.. 🤪

I haven't thought about it, but maybe some day ;)
Such a beautiful plane! Looks very similar to my Piper Cherokee 😎🤙
I love them both!
Hey Brian an camera crew u should get an rc camping field on the go an have some flying weekend's over the summer 😃
LOL - good ideal ;) We're just struggling to keep up - LOL
Great flick ol Son.
thanks ;)
Its a beuaty , good work again Brian . :)
Many thanks!
There are some strange exceptions, like the recently re-released P-47 V2 ( P-47 alnk.to/7X2KL7a ), but since it's one of the only times we've seen it, I would make plans to pain the RED one if you can't live without the blue finish ;)

@@BrianPhillipsRC Thanks Brian, good info didn't think to use the rudder, I will try that.
@@Stinkles_ Great advise thank you Tommy I will give it a try
@@edwardlistander2961 You’re welcome Edward! Mastering low speed flight will lead to much nicer stabilized approaches and better landings too!
Another epic video! I always learn so much from you guys! #stayepic
Keep the videos coming, I appreciate you taking the time to put together.
Question,is it possible to hand launch the Cirrus SR22T?
Thanks, and I guess where there's a will, there's a way...might be kinda sketch, but you can most definitely do it. BE CAREFUL! Don't cut your fingers off!
Older video but still wanted to know as I watch this if I can install squishy tires on it for my husbands first plane I'm in the middle of super timber 2.0 or 1.5 cirrus for realism that plane in the rain pretty much sold it for me
What does something like the cost. All in. Plane, battery, radio. Everything you need to get started with this plane. Thanks
I wouldn't get started on this plane, FYI, but if you wanted too...it would be < $1000 all in. You'd have the best of the best stuff too ;)

I fly off of a. Well mana cured grass run way with the cirrus, no problem. But it’s one step from a golf corse.
I want that some day - if all that front strip was clear, Kentucky blue...and about 2" tall - oh boy...gets me all fired up thinking about it ;)
Hey Brian, you mentioned you used to do videos of adding lights to planes but not so much these days.
I would like a top 10 of your rc planes!!!
Your channel is my point of reference since I took up this hobby after years.
I love to see his top 10 as well..he seems to love the 1.2m t28 Trojan alot
If I have flown an Horizon Hobby Duet, would this be an okay second plane? Or would a 1.5m apprentice serve me better?
I would vote for the Apprentice. The Cirrus is an amazing plane, but it's faster to fly/harder to land than an Apprentice. Plus, the beautiful scale details are going to be more work to fix in the inevitable bumps and bruises of a new pilot. The Cirrus as a 3rd or 4th plane... definitely! Good luck!

bprc.me/CirrusSR22T
Just a quick question,,,,,,,,can you install a 3 blade prop of equal outer diameter and pitch?
Yes, but sometimes you will notice a decline in performance. Check the motor for over-heating if in doubt. Smaller will sometimes make the plane FASTER...I know, sounds counter-intuitive as heck, but you'll have to try it out!
Hi Brian,
Thanks for everything you and your wife are doing for the hobby! Thank you!
I only worry about trimming g mechanically to recenter my trims, IF I have something like 1/4 or more of the trim used up. This is a preference issue.
Good quesiton, by the way, and thanks for being with us JS!
Nice plane
sure is!
Still waiting for the second thoughts on the fms 182 ,Brian😏😏
Noted, thanks ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC don't get me rong ,I just like the way you fly it as well as your UA-cam videos 👌
What are your thoughts about the good/bad differences between the Cirrus and the PA-28? Which would you prefer?
I think most will prefer the Cirrus, since it's more powerful and feature packed, but the Cherokee will fly more forgivingly, slower, and will also look amazing in a relaxing sunset flight.
I want both. Hands down...these are a couple of my favorite planes.
@@BrianPhillipsRC Thx Brian... got anxious with my question. If i had waited until the end of the video i would have had my answer as well.
Great video. Can you use a 3200 3s in this plane? Thanks
yes, I used up to 4000mah and had no issues.
Nice looking bird .......flying around looking like a "buzinezz man" ...
You got that right!
Sweet plane. Got a quick question what would you suggest umx timber x or umx Pitts? I am a novice/intermediate pilot. No 3d pilot. But want to have for advancement. I will end up with both, but what one to get first. Thanks for the info
Tough call...I'd suggest the Timber X UMX - Timbers are all great all around planes, really.
@@BrianPhillipsRC thank you very much. Also I will get a cirrus too. Looks amazing can't pass it up.
Hey buddy, there is foam inside the engine compartment did you remove yours or not?
Wow. What type of camera are you guys using. Phenomenal video.
Thanks! Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra + Rhode Wireless Go 2 mics. ( Mics amzn.to/3grY9kE )
You said you replaced the rudder servo - what servo did you use as a replacement?
If you could only recommend me one plane between the omphobby s720 or t720 or the arrows pioneer, which would you recommend?
Of the S720 and T720 - T720.
OF the three - Pioneer bit.ly/3GhbN5w
I learned to fly from sims on my phone and gta 5 😂😂😂😂started with a apprentice
Nice! Good luck! GTA 5 is good for all sorts of stuff!!! Do you also play the arcade games in the bar? ;)
It is not 3D. It is not the easiest of the 1.2m warbirds, but it's not bad flying at all...just a LOT of P-Factor when you're taking off.
Rats 😢
Throw some topsoil on your lawn... and level it... buy a drum mower... insane runway potential
Working on it ;) We have a drum mower ;)
We've had two straight years of drought, which has been very good for the weeds, but very bad for grass - LOL ;)
Yeah, I HATE taking planes apart too!
Hello Brian, I have a quick question for you. The Cirrus or the Commander? Thank's.
Cirrus, for me...but Commander is amazing too!
Cirrus SR22T bit.ly/3r7ASe0
Commander bit.ly/3KNppHu
Get both...both are amazing. I maiden both last week 🙂😃
What is the better plane between this one and the Twin Beechcraft?
So different planes... BUT probably the Twin Beechcraft, since it's a more expensive plane. It's also going to give a similar SCALE flight experience, but you can also add in AEROBATICS like crazy, if you wish.

What about the Bigfoot as a beater starting plane?
That would do.
I have a bigfoot it's a great plane it's one of my favorites I own. I have a Aeroscout as well and love the bigfoot better. It's super easy to fly and once u get good the bigfoot is a hot rod on 4s battery
Have you removed the two foam plugs in the front?
What foam plugs?
@@BrianPhillipsRC if you look at the too holes in the cowl there are two foam plugs that some say to remove for airflow. At one time horizon has said to remove them but some say to leave them. I would say leave them out for esc cooling. Wanted to know your thoughts.
I was thinking to get a Cirrus sr22 tv2 , what do you think how it fly, ?

Can you try the e-flite f-4 phantom
Didn't think it's available now???
Citation X 1.5m or 2.0m would be cool. And yes a Boeing 737-400, 747.
AMEN!!!!!
Here I am replacing my rudder servo.....oops. Lol.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Ok, Cirrus or Cherokee? 😄
Definitely BOTH ;)
Happy Holidays to you and your family.
