    NOTE:
    -This map is more of a concept than something to actually play. The idea is that it takes a large amount of steps to complete given its size. (Keep in mind that RNG is just a byproduct of this, not the actual “hard” part of the map) You can use mods/plugins to speed things up, if you plan on actually playing this.
    -Falling in the void will not work to spawn mobs.
    Falling into the void will not work because the map must be away from the world spawn because of mob spawning mechanics. If the map is out of the world spawn and you die, you will keep spawning in the void indefinitely.
    I am aware that there are smaller maps centered around a similar concept. Think of this as more of a skyblock themed puzzle map. (I may make a “smallest” skyblock maps video if people are interested)

    The most difficult part of the map is not getting killed by phantoms, but I found a way to solve this. You can place the flower and place the flowerpot ontop of the flower. Then you can place the beehive ontop of the flowerpot. If you remove everything but the beehive, you now have a floating beehive. If you stand under the beehive, phantoms will not spawn.
    Edit: I have discovered that you can cheese the entire bee phase of the game, however it is statistically impossible. You can simply bridge with the beehive and flowerpot, but each time you break either block there is a chance it falls in the void, and you have to do it 48 times in a row, so it is practically impossible.

      @@wernerderchamp As far as food goes, you can stop phantoms from spawning by placing the three blocks you get above you since phantoms don’t spawn if there is a block above you. From that point and on, you can use honey as a food source, and once you get enough honey to bridge out, you can just use regular food. Bees are infact a big problem and the answer to your question really just depends on how many bees are in the beehive. Before making the video I did infact try to see how hard the bees would be, and with 2 or less bees it is very doable with just regular walking (which doesn’t use hunger). Three bees is where things get really hard, but it is still possible as I was able to do a few cycles around the map with three bees. Bees deagro after 25 seconds. Llamas will not spit on you unless you attack them or the wandering trader, which you do not have to do. The witch thing is not as hard as it seems. The big thing is that by the time you get to that point, you already have access to enchanted armor from mobs, as well as anvils. Additionally, you only need to pull off the trick once, so if you cant get it the first time you can just try again later.

    Trees and wood are the big milestone for me because then you can finally build up all the SPACE you need.
    with the ability to build structures, it's possible to create a zombie trap where you can sort the villagers from the rest.
    Once you have farmers and some crops, you can generate all the emeralds you need. For me the most painful part of this is the bees... I never figured out bees.

  • @Julia_14339

    I've been working on a TAS of this map, and I want to point out something about the honey-collection part. There's another strategy you can use to bridge out that does not require *any* honey (but does require a lot of rng): you can use just the hive and flower pot to bridge out 24 blocks. Place the two, destroy one, place one, destroy one, place one, ... and so on.
    So if you want the map to enforce waiting for honey, you should place the hive on the obby, prevent the bee from exiting with a carpet, and place the flower on the grass. Since a carpet needs a solid block beneath it to exist, you can't use it to bridge out. This enforces waiting for honey.

    This is not the hardest, rather the most time consuming tbh. The instructions are simple, but the chances and time it would take is just much. So it's not hard, just time consuming.
    This is like giving stockfish(chess engine best) a very unlikely, BUT winnable position and yourself 1 year to move. It's not hard for them, rather just time consuming since they have to wait for you to make a move.
    To be honest, based on these chances one would figure them out in time without assistance lmao (they would just need time).
    The hardest skyblock would be like a "timed death trap" that has only itself around, BUT has limited resources, THEN there is a "circle" around the island that has water moving on it, imagine it being a tower, once the last block is filled from the timed place, redstone starts to go up, and drop TNT on the player. NOW THAT is hard and not time consuming! :D

If the map can’t be in spawn chunks that means that the player can’t die or else they die indefinitely, so I did not consider falling into the void as an option for the player. Either way though, I think the beehive stage would still be faster if done as intended. Mob spawning has a chance to occur every tick when available, and there are very few ticks in the time of falling in and out of mob spawning range. • @haph2087
    @haph2087 3 роки тому +36

    You can actually make the map even harder, as it is possible to play with just a grass block, remove the beehive and flower pot, and to have the obby and frames elsewhere (say 100 blocks away, where you can't immediately get to them (to truly "maximize" difficulty, you'd want to place them as far away as possible, so why not put each of the obby spaced out evenly along the worldborder))
    Without the bees you can jump off the grass block into the void, and wait for sheep and spider spawns, then, when they do spawn, kill the sheep for wool, and the spiders for string to craft into wool. Once you get 24 blocks away to do the normal spawns, it proceeds like normal.
    The rest of the challenge is the same.
    (I've discussed a bunch with my friends about minimalist skyblock starts, we'd mostly focused on minimum block count, rather than "difficulty", but I can see how that would be a metric to strive for)

      By “hard” I really meant complex. Of course, one could create a map that requires an insane amount of rng to complete, but that is not very interesting. The idea of the video is to create map that takes an absurd amount of brainpower and thinking to complete, while still keeping the integrity of skyblock. The luck and repetition needed to complete this map was really just a byproduct of its complexity. I did consider having only a lava caldron, solid block, and end portal for the entire map, but I felt that by removing the bee section of the map, the map lost alot of its complexity. From what I understand mobs are not be able to spawn in the precise spawn chunks so I didn’t consider jumping into the void as an option for the player, since if the map could not be in the spawn chunks, the player would just die in the void indefinitely. There are many smaller (but less interesting) maps that I have created such as one that involves powder snow and the lava one that I mentioned (which is similar to what you suggested), but I found that this map the most complex which is the reason I didn’t choose any of those options, but thank you for the thought.

    • @haph2087
      @haph2087 3 роки тому +6

      @@tzemmiecat4923 Sure, there are many possible different configurations. If you really wanted just "the hardest to beat" or "the most complex" and just went by the metric, you'd start with some wacky escape rooms that make you do a few million hours of work before you can even start with the skyblock part, but that isn't really what the question is about.
      Personally I think it's more interesting to consider the minimum number of starting blocks/items that can get you to the end, of which there are many combinations. My favorite is a single grass and a single lava block.
      I haven't been able to think of a single block start that can get you into the end (other than ones I feel don't count; end portal, chest with items, command block, etc.).

      @@haph2087 I get what you mean, and infact, size was originally the entire premise of the video. However, there are a few reasons to why I changed the direction of the video from size to complexity. If size is all that matters, then what is stopping me from just putting an end portal block at the spawn? What is stopping me from just putting a blaze spawner at spawn or a chest full of goods? I could say "If it spawns naturally, it is allowed." Except, end portals can technically spawn naturally. So then I could add "It must spawn naturally without glitches". But this would still allow things like chests with end loot, or activated end portal frames. I could then add "It has to be guaranteed to spawn in any given world". I could keep going with restrictions like this, but it would get over complicated for the purpose of the video. I guess the true premise of this video is to create the most complicated map that I could which still keeps the integrity of skyblock. I do see the interest of making maps that are as small as possible with restrictions, and I have actually have thought about making a video dedicated to that (since I have some ideas in mind), but I'm not too sure if people would watch it because it may be too similar to this video.

      Then again, I may make a video of me actually playing an alternate map similar to the one in this video, so that may be a good time to showcase and think up maps that focus on the metric of size instead of integrity and absurdity.

      @@tzemmiecat4923 I totally get it. Before you can get an answer, you have to figure out what the right question to ask is, and that’s not simple to find. What makes a skyblock interesting? I think some mix of a) being able to get as many items as possible, b) starting with as few and mundane items as possible, and c) having as many steps to “completion” as possible. Perhaps other things should be considered, or some of these aren’t great. It’s subjective, so at the end of the day, it’s up to you.

      1. Mobs cannot spawn within the world spawn chunk, which is why you need to honey block outside 24 blocks in the first place.
      2. Even IF mob could spawn, jumping into the void would only provide you with a few games ticks, and mobs take a long time to spawn, especially when there is only ONE grass block. It's probably faster to do his strat.
      3. Where do you get that lava bucket and drip stone you mentioned? Idk bout dripstone, but the only way to get lava at all, without going to the nether, is to do the whole villager process, convert him into an armorer villager with blast furnace and hope u get the right rng for lava bucket trade, or else you start over. At that point, might as well just do the normal way he mentioned. Not to mention the dripstone too, which probably also needs the same trading process again, you're doing it TWICE!!!

    Maybe to make it take even longer, instead of having 8 bedrock, have only 1 bedrock and one block of lava, with the rest of the 5 life's being encased in endframes and/or bedrock, so you have to generate the rest of the lava/obsidian yourself.
    Preferably with the bedrock also being in the middle of the end portal, so you have to remove that to get to the end.

    Quick note to anyone wanting to actually play this! If you want to actually do it, make sure to make a superflat map with the data "minecraft:air;minecraft:taiga" this way you can get the foxes to spawn at all. You could technically just make a villager farm, but if you want to use his method that's how :)
    *EDIT:* Turns out this is actually required for it to work! Wandering traders are entirely incapable of spawning in the void biome, so you can't just use the void. Additionally, wandering traders actually require you to be more than 48 blocks out of spawn, so you're actually gonna need like 46 honey blocks. And then, at the end of that honey block path, you have to place the beehive (not bee *nest*, if you used a bee nest this is unbeatable) at the end of the path
