I think the frustration from the neighbors is how extreme that project seems. That many units will have some impact on the infrastructure. When the original home was built and the subdivision planned it was for a single family dwelling. The planning department and the developer had to consider utilities, water usage, parking, and traffic. That is the short list for sure. How can 12 units be crammed into a single home lot? Who at city hall is allowing this to happen? There is available open space in this city that would be far more suitable. Sounds greedy to me and a cheap shot at the neighborhood.

12 adu’s on that lot for a total of 14 living spaces altogether. I imagine that rent will be collected for each apartment? If the adu’s are studios only they can rent for at least $1700.00 a month and upwards to $2200 on the average. Since they would be brand new they can charge on the higher end. The adu’s alone at $2000 a month will generate $24k a month and then there’s the house itself and the purposed converted garage. That average sized lot could easily bring close to $30k for the owner. I would still consider it greedy by the property owner. Maybe they can ask the city if they can put in a side street from the dirt bank in the
backyard down to Genesse Ave, right turn only sign included. That would ease traffic at the cul de sac and if the side street is wide enough the new tenants can park there.

There’s a 500+ project behind my friends house in San Ysidro. There’s barely any parking. The street parking is already full now. It’s going to be a huge CF for sure. It’s criminal what’s being allowed by the city.
I swore I saw a lawsuit for San Diego a couple years ago that requires apartments to provide enough parking to not mess the neighborhoods parking up. I live next to apartments and parking is such bull.
Thats whats crazy is the parking. Like parking in SD is already so bad. Now you pack 10 more units onto a street. Every unit is going to have 2 cars, since everyone has a roommate now. 20 extra cars trying to park on that culdasack now. Good luck with that. They are gonna come home to people parked in their driveway.

That's a freaking hotel. ADU stands for Air B&B Hotel in this case. They are going to turn that quiet cul de sac into a busy bustling hotel. Imagine hundreds of people coming in and out, party every single day right next to your house!

Let the developers continue building enormous apartment home rental complexes and leave the neighborhoods alone. ADU apartment complexes such as this is not needed.

The issues are that there are better places in Clairmont with land. In neighborhoods, that are not built for 12 new families this is criminal. ADU. That is an accessory dwelling unit, not a new village. That is just ridiculous. Speed it throughout the neighborhood and keep it all single-story. These people bought their homes with a bit of land around it to have privacy.

I was thinking, a retiree who was able to save well, and conserved their finances, perhaps has a pension/retirement income plus their Social Security.
$2200 is definitely more affordable than a senior living facility of $4200+ like my great aunt was fortunate enough spend her last years in.

The state law allows it. How do you guys expect a local municipality to fight the state law when it clearly states Sacramento will sue cities that try to prevent this from happening. This is a result of NIMBY local people fighting development to allow proper housing numbers specifically with multi family projects. The lack of housing is so bad that the state had to create this insane ability for ADU development, but in reality, local municipalities and local residents are the only ones to blame for being the ultimate NIMBYs. As an example in North County San Diego if you go into East County Escondido Vista San Marcos most of the land that’s out there if you want to develop it has a minimum lot size of 30,000 square feet with a minimum structure of 6000 ft.². The zoning in these areas are designed to only provide for the extremely wealthy which from a urban planning perspective is the reason why this is happening when you have Boomer blocking development for decades this is what you end up with, a total shit show trying to figure out how to expedite housing
Please show me a single zoning ordinance within the entire County that requires a 6,000 square foot structure to be built. I’ll wait….it doesn’t exist. And 30,000 square feet is less than 0.7 acres. Lots of areas in the County require 1, 2, or even up to 40+ acres for proposed subdivision of existing parcels.

This is “not in my neighborhood “ issue. Housing is an answer. My mother recently died, my brother has been living with her for 5 years, 4 years he paid rent, this last year she needed care, so he left his job and stayed home. Now he needs a place to live with no rental history. He has money , 3 weeks and nothing- as soon as something affordable becomes available- its rented. We visited a tiny house village, mostly workers from an assisted living. Its beautiful, its among historic single family homes, they blended it in.

The available units need to be affordable for all. 2k and up for a studio or 1br is crazy. 120k annual income being considered low income is crazy. Try giving illegals everything free and taxpayers nothing but more bills is even more crazy.
