    I have made this recipe probably 50 times since you have posted it. I eat it almost every night, sometimes I use shrimp. It is my ultimate comfort food and I really enjoy eating them while watching Star Trek. The sauce is also really good with noodles, but I’m sure you knew that! I love your channel, thanks for all your deliciousness.

      I've made them with ground chicken. Added a pinch of Chinese five spice to the mix because chicken is milder than pork and it was great.

    Have you tried using Chinese black vinegar ? It's much more common in Chinese cooking and a lot in Chinese food from western China. I think it adds a great extra depth of flavor and almost earthy/wood notes along with a softer sour flavor. In Chinese it's called 老醋 Lao cu

      She said in one of her videos she prefers to use the Chinese vinegar but it is very hard to come by where she lives. While I am sure she has it, I think she used the regular vinegar because her viewers might not have access to it.

    Thanks Marion! Firstly, I love your channel and there are SOOO many recipes I want to try. You’ve inspired me to have a decent go at Asian cooking. Secondly I love these dumplings and have successfully made them twice already. But next time I want to freeze a batch for use in future. How long should I boil them for if I’m cooking from frozen?...and is there a way to know for sure that they’re cooked? Cheers, Chris 😍

      I'm the the host but I am a cook of 50 yrs....lol. Anyway, the tiny amount of meat that's put into the wonton wrapper will be done probably even before the pasta won ton is quite finished. But then it's been 2 years ago that you asked, and you should no doubt have the answer already. I'm going to try these. I love a little heat and am crazy about won tons. Cheers to a great bowl of soup! 🍲

    Hello Marion, I got a chance to see your season of MC-OZ much later than it aired and in sure I'm not the first one to say "you wuz robbed". I had my money squarely between you and the lawyer Claire. The issue was that while Alvin and Adam kept going back to their heritage (Chinese/Japanese) in every episode, you reinvented yourself with a much larger repertoire- I don't know if that ended up hurting you. But your line of "I came here to cook, not to gamble, George" was a mastersyroke.
    Keep this channel alive.
    Cheers,
    CR (Madras-India)

    Came here by accident.
    Made the recipe.
    Failed a bit with folding the dumplings and as such, a couple turned out pretty monsterous after they went into the water.
    Nonetheless, came back to tell you that these are THE BEST dumplings I ever had!
    I'm not even kidding. People.. If you can't cook for shit just try it. You will have some fails but these dumplings are epic. It takes some time to make but it's worth it.
    Ty so much for the recipe.

    Can you buy pre-made dumpling casings?

    • @LemLTay
      @LemLTay 5 років тому

      Yes, pre-made dumpling (wonton) skins are quite easily available in Asian supermarkets or even regular supermarkets. They come both fresh or frozen; the latter needs to be left to thaw in the fridge etc. and usually you can re-freeze what hasn't been used. You could try making your own wonton skins if you love making fresh pasta, though the recipe usually calls for slightly more unusual "alkaline water" (lye water) which gives the wonton wrappers their characteristic yellow colour and a more chewy, bouncy texture.

    Thanks Marion!!! Just the recipe i was lukin for 😍 i had sampled this at Din Tai Fung and was wondering how to make it at home .. You have made this so simple ..can we use chicken and shrimp mince mixed? What proportions would be best and will make it really juicy? How would you suggest this ... As a starter or part of main course? Can we serve this with fried rice? Can you please name some good Chinese popular brands of soy sauce? I am so excited to learn more from your videos ☺️ i am so glad i discovered you! 🙏

    • @Marionskitchen
      @Marionskitchen  6 років тому +1

      Hi Swats, you could just swap out the pork for the chicken. It would be great if you could use minced chicken thigh meat as that will keep your dumplings very juicy. You can serve it with whatever you like. Dumplings go with anything! And what you want is a standard Chinese 'light soy sauce'. That's what the regular everyday soy sauce is called :-) Enjoy!
