I have made this recipe probably 50 times since you have posted it. I eat it almost every night, sometimes I use shrimp. It is my ultimate comfort food and I really enjoy eating them while watching Star Trek. The sauce is also really good with noodles, but I’m sure you knew that! I love your channel, thanks for all your deliciousness.
My goodness... made the chili oil and then these dumplings. For a kitchen amateur, this was easy and SO AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS. I think my family thinks I'm some kind of super-woman. I send all the credit your way, you made me a super-kitchen-star!!
Have you tried using Chinese black vinegar ? It's much more common in Chinese cooking and a lot in Chinese food from western China. I think it adds a great extra depth of flavor and almost earthy/wood notes along with a softer sour flavor. In Chinese it's called 老醋 Lao cu
She said in one of her videos she prefers to use the Chinese vinegar but it is very hard to come by where she lives. While I am sure she has it, I think she used the regular vinegar because her viewers might not have access to it.
I just made these tonight and they were a big hit! I used 1 TB of store bought chili oil instead of 4 because spicy foods upsets my stomach. So flavorful. Definitely going in rotation. Thank you Marion. I love your cooking videos!
I have been making these for years and they are one of my favorite things to eat! I add a bit on brown sugar to the sauce and it adds some richness and it's simply an amazing dinner. I also use this filling and sauce for pot stickers
I just need these Marion and OMG, AMAZING. You are my spirit animal, I’m half Vietnamese and half ‘American,’ my cooking specialty is Asian food especially Vietnamese. I have watched about 10 videos of yours and I want to make every single one!! I am so excited that I have discovered your channel on UA-cam!!!! I have made your Thai beef noodle soup and plan to make your Thai beef salad tomorrow night. You inspire me to cook, THANK YOU
Came here by accident. Made the recipe. Failed a bit with folding the dumplings and as such, a couple turned out pretty monsterous after they went into the water. Nonetheless, came back to tell you that these are THE BEST dumplings I ever had! I'm not even kidding. People.. If you can't cook for shit just try it. You will have some fails but these dumplings are epic. It takes some time to make but it's worth it. Ty so much for the recipe.
My kid asked me for this again for years now. After 4 years I had to look this up again to make it. This time I didn’t fk up the dumplings. Still my fav dumpling recipe ever.
I’ve made four or five of your dishes now and I finally feel comfortable with the heat levels. Like you I like it a bit spicy but don’t want to punish my guests! Keep up the good work. By the way you’ve become our date night activity, after 38 years a little added spice helps😁
Amazing!! Thank you Marion for this wonderful recipe! I also used your recipe for the chilli oil which is absolutely divine and this is one of the best dinners I have had ever 😍 even the picky kids mopped up their plates (I made mini wontons for them by cutting the wonton wrappers in 4 and without the chilli for them). Will definitely be making this again and again
You made baby wontons! Great creativity. In fact, I want to make some ahead and freeze them and I think if you make ahead mini sized, they be easier to store them in the freezer. Just throw them in the bag after they set up. Thanks!
Thanks Marion! Firstly, I love your channel and there are SOOO many recipes I want to try. You’ve inspired me to have a decent go at Asian cooking. Secondly I love these dumplings and have successfully made them twice already. But next time I want to freeze a batch for use in future. How long should I boil them for if I’m cooking from frozen?...and is there a way to know for sure that they’re cooked? Cheers, Chris 😍
I'm the the host but I am a cook of 50 yrs....lol. Anyway, the tiny amount of meat that's put into the wonton wrapper will be done probably even before the pasta won ton is quite finished. But then it's been 2 years ago that you asked, and you should no doubt have the answer already. I'm going to try these. I love a little heat and am crazy about won tons. Cheers to a great bowl of soup! 🍲
Hello Marion, I got a chance to see your season of MC-OZ much later than it aired and in sure I'm not the first one to say "you wuz robbed". I had my money squarely between you and the lawyer Claire. The issue was that while Alvin and Adam kept going back to their heritage (Chinese/Japanese) in every episode, you reinvented yourself with a much larger repertoire- I don't know if that ended up hurting you. But your line of "I came here to cook, not to gamble, George" was a mastersyroke. Keep this channel alive. Cheers, CR (Madras-India)
Dear Marion, I don’t eat pork or beef but I want to try so many of your dishes that contains pork or beef. Would you recommend turkey or chicken mince for this particular recipe and lamb mince or lamb chunks for the ones that has beef?
I'm Muslim and I assume, you're concern is due to religious reasons too. Just substitute them to chicken or turkey or even any seafood like shrimp or even veggies!
I love the spicy dumplings eversince I came to know it and have never got enough of it. They are truly delicious. Thanks for sharing this recipe, Marion🙂🙂
Love your style n recipoes i try this chilli oil but its too much spicy so plz heli me to reduce the spice in the oil thanks always stay happy💖💖🥰🥰🥰🥰🧑🍳🧑🍳🧑🍳💐💐💐👍👍👍
Hi Marion, I hope you read this comment, I would like to know how long you can store that sauce for? If I put all of the components inside, will it last a week?
“if that’s not heaven idk what is” this phrase keep running in my head while i was trying to cook this recipe.. i followed her tips and recipe and ughhh you should too! because if that’s not heaven idk what is! 🥰🥰 dont forget to also follow her homemade chili oil recipe ua-cam.com/video/w9rpp2cPDs0/v-deo.html here.. thank you marion!
Yes, pre-made dumpling (wonton) skins are quite easily available in Asian supermarkets or even regular supermarkets. They come both fresh or frozen; the latter needs to be left to thaw in the fridge etc. and usually you can re-freeze what hasn't been used. You could try making your own wonton skins if you love making fresh pasta, though the recipe usually calls for slightly more unusual "alkaline water" (lye water) which gives the wonton wrappers their characteristic yellow colour and a more chewy, bouncy texture.
absolutely love your version of this dish! I will give the coriander a try next time i make this. and adding the stock to the sauce, wow what an idea lol keep up the great work
Yum, happy to have found your video and I have subscribed! Yes, please tell us about the song in this video. Im going shopping now for the ingredients!
Thanks Marion!!! Just the recipe i was lukin for 😍 i had sampled this at Din Tai Fung and was wondering how to make it at home .. You have made this so simple ..can we use chicken and shrimp mince mixed? What proportions would be best and will make it really juicy? How would you suggest this ... As a starter or part of main course? Can we serve this with fried rice? Can you please name some good Chinese popular brands of soy sauce? I am so excited to learn more from your videos ☺️ i am so glad i discovered you! 🙏
Hi Swats, you could just swap out the pork for the chicken. It would be great if you could use minced chicken thigh meat as that will keep your dumplings very juicy. You can serve it with whatever you like. Dumplings go with anything! And what you want is a standard Chinese 'light soy sauce'. That's what the regular everyday soy sauce is called :-) Enjoy!

Dumplings and Star Trek sounds like heaven! I should do the same.
I've made them with ground chicken. Added a pinch of Chinese five spice to the mix because chicken is milder than pork and it was great.
These dumplings changed my life. Honestly, I make them like I make rice now. 💕💕💕🥟🥟🥟🥟
Right!!! Who would I'd thought..
She sounds like a villain, plotting something delicious
😂😂😂
where can I apply to be a henchman^^

Aw thank you for taking the time to come back and let me know you've been enjoying my recipes :-)
My local grocery store plays her videos on a big TV and I've been wondering what her channel was. I finally found it!
The rolling technique is the easiest and best I've seen. Thanks!

I went to Din Tai Fung in Vegas to specifically try this dish.. life changing. Can't wait to make this myself.
I have been making these for years and they are one of my favorite things to eat! I add a bit on brown sugar to the sauce and it adds some richness and it's simply an amazing dinner. I also use this filling and sauce for pot stickers

CORIANDER?! IN MY WONTONS?!
Hiyaaah~
Hi Marion,
I hope you read this comment,
I would like to know how long you can store that sauce for?
If I put all of the components inside, will it last a week?
Vinatomon at least 6 months
Chris Huang but what about the herbs that she put in? You sure it’ll last 6 months?
Vinatomon the herb can be stored for a long time
Can I make these with your dumpling wrapper recipe? Also can I add chicken mince instead of pork mince?
Thank you on my list to make ! Mmmmmm yummy

How long do you cook for from frozen?
Hi. How do you thaw frozen dumpling wrappers? Mine turned out ugly..
Im a pig so I want bigger dumplings with all that beautiful sauce!🐷
Love the recipe , what is the name of the song In The background ?
Pretty sure I know what I am making for lunch today.
Heaven!!!!!
What's a good substitute for the pork?
Can someone recommend a good brand for Wonton wrappers here in the US (preferably N Cal).
