Antique books are gorgeous. I have quite a few of them on my shelves, but I am always so terrified to pick them up and open them. I don't have a lot of them, but I do have enough where they are noticeable in comparison to the other books that are on my shelves. Outside of some of these authors, like Dickens and Keats- I've never heard of the rest of these books. I would love to find some an edition of many of those old antique books, but they are impossible to find in my country which makes me a little sad.
You probably wont read this, but i just wanted to tell you that you helped me so much. I really love reading, and books, english and history are my favourite subjects. All other students get bad grades, hate school, are smoking and doing dr*gs, and are being rude. But i am kind, i like books, im getting good grades, amd i dress in cardigans and cute shirts, and ive been bullied for my entire life for that. I was really sad becaouse i am different, and becaouse i have different intrests than others. But then i discovered you, you made me feel more confident bc of who i am. Now im not afraid to be seen reading a book on a break in school, and i dont care what people think. You really helped me out with your videos, thanks a lot for that!!!❤❤you are the best❤❤❤

Love seeing bookshelf tours! If I could borrow a book it would be The Girls Own Annual, not only a gorgeous book, but one I would love to read. You have a beautiful collection!
lovely video as always! My English teacher gave everyone in our class books that we'd said we wanted to read for graduation and gave me The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath (who was one of the writers we'd studied). She wrote a lovely inscription in the front and I adore it so much.
A Little Princess is such a heartwarming book. I don't know if you know it already, but there's actually an earlier version of the story called "Sara Crewe, or, What Happened at Miss Minchin's." It's a short story, and Burnett later expanded it into the novel that it is today. I think the novel, with its additional characters, fleshed out storyline, and better explanations is better than the original short story, but the short story is still worth a read just to see the author's thought process.
Absolutely beautiful! You should absolutely be proud of your bookshelf. I understand not wanting to use the Oxford taper candle, I have a little teapot shaped candle and I can't bring myself to use it. I think the one book I would borrow is your beautiful first edition of A Little Princess.

I love Emily Dickinson. Just yesterday I received Open Me Carefully (I had ordered it). The biggest, truest collection I have of her poetry is "Emily Dickinson's Poems As She Preserved Them" edited by Cristanne Miller. It doesn't butcher her form with snobby editing. It retains her use of the dash, etc. I also have Emily Dickinson's Gardening Life, which is a beautiful, beautiful book. It has so many pictures of her botany studies from her herbarium. It's a biography set out by the seasons. I absolutely loved it.

I'm one of the people who made the mistake of watching the film (1995 version) first, and that kind of clouded my opinion of the book for many years. Seeing the 1986 miniseries starring Amelia Shankley (which is a very accurate adaptation) finally split into its original six-part structure in recent years (here in the US, it was split into three parts instead) helped me to understand the pacing and themes of the book and appreciate them more. I misunderstood where the "low point"/"depressing point" of the story was for so many years because the 1995 film makes the "low point" be a completely different scene that didn't happen in the book (even though it does contain the original "low point," but less stress is put upon it). Tell me when you get done reading the book, and I can explain in more detail afterwards.
You convinced me to borrow 'A Little Princess'. But not without 'History of the Rain'. Probably better to acquire those myself and borrow them from my bookshelf! Have a nice day.

I noticed that you have a collection of American poetry that you said you've enjoyed. Just wondering if you are interested in reading Canadian poetry? It's a sharp contrast to American poetry even though there are similarities, but I have recommendations if you're interested. The edition of poetry that I highly recommend is Canadian Poetry: From the Beginnings through the First World War. However, this is only if you're interested. There are collections of Canadian war poetry. If you are familiar with British war poets, you might be interested in some Canadian ones just to see the Canadian perspective during both World Wars and I do believe that the Americans have their own war poetry collections which gives an excellent insight into the American perspective of the two world wars.

I've finished the "Memoirs of a Geisha"... Nice book...
I added several new books to my wish list. The book that I would ask to borrow is A Novel Cure.❤
Ruby, thanks for the video. I'd like to know more about your reading strategy, how do you plan what to read and when? I want to read more, but find myself overwhelmed with the options, being overambitious then...not finishing the book. Any tips?
⚜️Ruby thank you for the bookshelf tour, you have good reads of course! I have one small request, if you have a list of your bokjs with the title and authors, could you please post a link in the description box. For one of your next videos, please do a pre start to Oxford summer get ready video about your prestarting curriculum and how your preparing. Love you! 😊
Oh dear Ruby if I had the chance I'd like to borrow from you "A little princess " and " A man who walked through walls" , I'm really exited to read these two especially...stay safe stay healthy love you 🤍
I highly recommend ‘The Flowers of Evil’ by Charles Baudelaire if you have not read it already! I read it aloud to my cat last year and enjoyed it a lot, If I remember correctly it was so controversial upon publication that he and his publisher were arrested!
The Girl's Own Annual is ASMR heaven 😍
I would love your bookshelves to be a library.
Ps. I would solemnly return every book I borrowed!
Could you show us your bookmark collection?
I’d borrow Bibliophile, it’s the kind of meta book that’s naturally fascinating
Plus The Book of the Countryside
You’re the best! 😉
WHOAAAAA BUNDY!
I would probably borrow "The Diamond as Big as the Ritz" first.
