    My soul literally comes to life in autumn. My love for this season is infinite 🍁🍂
    Here are some of my favorite autumnal Books/classics :
    - Rebecca, by Daphne du Maurier
    - Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Brontë
    - Frankenstein and Dorian Gray (indeed quintessential autumn books)
    - Great expectations, by Dickens
    - Wuthering heights, by Emily Brontë
    - The secret history, by Donna Tartt
    - Many many more 🍁🕯️
    Awesome video Ruby, as always :)

    Autumn is the best and most beautiful time of the year! Haha, I’m German and it’s soo cute how you called ”unheimlich“, I had to laugh! I know, German is hard to learn for English people, but it’s nice. Ruby, you’re the best motivation and inspiration for me and I think also for all of us. I watched Coraline the movie, two or three years ago I think, and I didn’t expect that it’s so good! After the first watching I rewatched it thousand times 💕🍵

      If you laugh at this, wait to see how it works in romanian schools🤣🤣 they teach us german from 6 year old to 14(middle school) and college(15 yr-18yr) and we still don't know how to read🤣🤣🤣 we can say that German gives us headaches and besides that it is also compulsory😅❤ LOVE FROM ROMANIA

      I have an amazing German professor, he taught us the pronunciation basics and the sounds of compound letters, and thanks to that I can pronounce almost any German word I see, even though I don't know the meaning. It's interesting, because I've always thought that German is one of those unpronounceable languages, I never wanted to try because it sounded very complicated to me and that I'd never actually succeed in learning it and pronunciation was my biggest struggle, that's why if anyone is hesitant to learn any language should just go for it and they may wonder later why they were not certain at first

    I love autumn.. seeing the colors of all the plants slowly changing into beautiful oranges, reds, yellows, purples, just absolutely beautiful colors. Watching my favorite halloween movies while drinking my favorite maple syrup and coffee or curling up next to the fireplace reading my favorite books. Lighting candles and carving pumpkins while wearing comfy sweaters. Also the foggy mornings and rainy days bring the most beautiful scenery and vibes all around me and I just absolutely love it. Autumn also starts in my birth month (September 29 is my birthday)

    🍂"Fall, Leaves, Fall" by Emily Bronte🍂
    Fall, leaves, fall; die, flowers, away;
    Lengthen day and shorten day;
    Every leaf speaks bliss to me
    Fluttering from the autumn tree.
    I shall smile when wreaths of snow
    Blossom where the rose should grow;
    I shall sing when night's decay
    Ushers in a drearier day.

    I love Doppler! There are two sequels to it as well which I highly recommend. What I think you failed to get across is that Erlend Loe is a comedy writer and Doppler is hilarious. One of my favorite books of all time, Muleum, was written by Erlend Loe. Muleum follows a suicidal 17-year-old girl as she travels the world in her quest to die in a plane crash.
    I also really like his book "L", where the main character is planning an expedition to Polynesia to prove that the islands were populated by people from South America, ice skating across the Pacific ocean during the Ice Age.

    Excellent point about reading past the first three chapters. I have a similar rule when starting a new book or show to read/watch the first three chapters/episodes to give things a fair chance. Because usually by the third part, that's when the story gets going, you're familiar with the setting and characters, etc. Unless of course, from the start it is utterly dreadful but I haven't found that so far.

    I have a fab autumnal-feeling book recommendation: Folk by Zoe Gilbert. It's a really wonderful wee collection of short stories set on the fictional island of Neverness. Gilbert writes these like folktales borne from the landscape which then become part of the history of the island. They are magical and sometimes dark, like most folklore is, and yet it all feels quite familiar. It's a pleasure following the lives of the villagers and seeing how magic is intertwined in their traditions and in their everyday lives. Beautiful!

    One book I especially like to read in autunm, when I go on extra long walks is "Diary of a young naturalist" by Dara McAnulty.
    He's recounting an entire year but since the focus is on his experiences, connections and feelings in nature it's so fitting for a october picnic in the woods.
    He describes his feeling very unique with beautiful phrases he comes up with and the appreciation he has for his surroundings just inspires.
    I really recommend checking out his work, the other books although a bit more for children are also a great mix of science, tricks and poetry.

    A teen girl's mother murders her boyfriend and gets incarcerated. Astrid, the teen, goes into the foster care system. It's about her experiences at each foster home she gets assigned. The movie cuts out 2 of the foster homes, I believe.

    BTW, my autumn books:
    -Dreaming Spires saga (I think they're only in Spanish and german, yes, the saga name is in English, but that's because the characters are from Oxford and have this newspaper about paranormal suff called Dreaming Spires. It's set in the Edwardian period, with a lot of paranormal, romance, graveyards, mistery and gothic settings. First book is located on a remote town in Ireland, on a very old castle inhabited by a widow and her daughter...And she has a power that reads people's minds and memories touching their skin... Ô_Ô
    -The Vampire Lestat (well, it's the only book I've finished from this series). I love this idiot. The Brat Prince

    I don't think that chapter you mentioned in Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close where the text gets crammed closer and closer together until the page turns black is narrated by Oskar Schell. It's the character who doesn't talk, with the tattoos of YES and NO on his hands. (Trying not to put spoilers!)

    I've told people left and right that Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein at 19 and just got worried I've been spreading (albeit inconsequential, really) misinformation. Apparently she started writing it at 18 (May 1816, she was born August 1897), so we both got it wrong, Ruby haha (Although it was published January 1818, when she was 19 years old :3 such a ripe and sweet age to publish something so terrifying haha)

    Dorian Gray has been made into a film more than once. I've said this before that you really should do your homework before you talk about books or anything really. You need to prepare correctly or, as this time, you look uninformed.
