I have talked to a few docs online that really hated chest seals, feeling that they increase the risk of developing a TP. Looking back I remember a couple of incidences of dropping sat's shortly after occluding sucking chest wounds, treated with needle decompression in at least one of those cases. As far as lidocaine vs amiodarone , I have never really seen either do much for V-fib, but the potential storage issues with amiodarone never gave me the warm fuzzies.
I took a recertification class early this year, thanks for this summary update!!
+Lola Strange Thank you guys for the support!
Thanks Skinny Medic appreciate the update from a family doc : )
Al
Thank you for the updates!!
Great video! As usual too!
Good job, man. Thanks for posting
Thank you for going this video so quickly after the update came out. I took notes from your video.
Very interesting video. I have been waiting months to see what the changes would be.
You did not mention if there were changes to the algorithms for the A.E.D.'s. Is my 2005 model AED algorithim now out of protocol ? Does it need to be taken out of service ? Please advise.
+Center Mass You may need to update the 2005 AED because it may still want you to pause after the shock.
My company uses this video as part of their training.
I compress the chest until it can no longer compress and of course allow for adequate chest rise
I really enjoyed that video
Do you happen to know what the main differences between the AHA´s and the ERC´s guidelines are? Do differences even exist? But thanks for the informative summary!
+mag0024 I don't honestly
+SkinnyMedic Do you know where youth (14+) could learn the skills to use medical equipment? i.e hemorrhage control w gauze and torniquets, air way, chest decomp etc?
Henry Liu I know your question is not addressed to me. But maybe this site can help you out finding First aid courses in your region. www.redcross.org/ux/take-a-class // Also just wanted to point out that chest decompression is a really advanced medical procedure and not part of BLS.
Henry Liu I would try search for a trauma class or TCCC class in your area. A lot of gun places are not doing trauma classes. A good trauma class should cover your topics.
Thanks a lot! I'm in the Sea Cadets and I'm planning on taking all of the medical training that they have, but I want to come prepared. Again thanks
thanks for the info
I really didn't see too many actual updates. More like reassurance for what we already know, idk what the medical world's sudden obsession with Narcan is but thats been covered for years under your H's and T's. I was hoping to see something more about the use of epi during codes, because they keep saying over and over they're not sure if it really helps in cardiac arrest. The holding respirations on a shockable rhythms and actually CA in general is something that has been in discussion for a while now, the theory is that the build up of CO2 will help get spontaneous respirations if you regain ROSC by influencing the carbonic drive, it is also by Sodium Bicarbonate is slowly being pushed out of ACLS. Good video, I'll have to give the guidelines a read next shift if we get some down time.
+Will Purdy I didn't see any huge changes this time.
Is it true that they no longer recommend mouth to mouth breathing during cpr?
+James Montgomery Yes for adults
Mouth to mouth resuscitation can be done if the px is your relative.
THEY ALSO ADDED A NEW RULE THAT SAYS.......NEVER RUB ANOTHER MANS RUBBARB
