    This vid is much better than the BDR release. Thanks

    Always enjoy your easy going attitude. The Black Hills BDR-X looks pretty good.

      Haha. I think I cut it out, but I made reference twice to that truck. Fyi it wasn't him, this one was 4wd. Uncle Jesse got it done with 2.

      @@localrouteadv it would have been a perfect time for your best Waylon Jennings voice!

    I thought you were in South Dakota? This environment looks completely different! 😂 Kidding aside it's amazing how much the scenery changes out west. Looking forward to the rest of the series!

      Although the vast majority of South Dakota is relatively flat, the contrast between that, the badlands and the black hills is like night and day and outer space. lol

    Love riding The 'Hills. Seems like an endless number of trails to explore. Done quite a bit on a GS, but more on smaller dual-sports to take advantage of the single-track stuff.

      The amount of trails really caught me off guard and made me feel like I kept driving right passed the best thing ever. I can never shake the FOMO. And oh yeah would have loved to be on a smaller bike at times, but not from the 700+ mile days at 80 mph. lol it's always a trade-off.

    Just out of curiosity what tires did you run on your bike for this ride? Great video btw…excellent job.

      @@localrouteadv I have a BMW R1250 GSA and from some other folks I talked to they didn’t care for them for off road use…said they were more like a 70/30 (road/dirt) tire. Going to try some motoz tires and see what I think…I am also new to off road so extra traction for me will be a good thing.

      @@usmcshepherdE9 I don't disagree. It's all a trade off. My experience is even motoz don't work in the mud. And the difference between the mission and adventure everything else off road just want enough difference to sacrifice the road performance. The motoz can get sketchy on the highway loaded down. I ride two up also, so can't risk the road end of things. Also I've been riding dirt for over 40 years and you can get by on pretty bad tires off-road with enough practice.

    How did the Markeesh jacket work for you?

    • @localrouteadv
      @localrouteadv  Рік тому +2

      I can't state enough how much I love the marrakesh jacket and pants. It really is like wearing breathable sweat pants and hoodie. But with protection. It will be hard to switch back to the Carlsbad gear for the winter. It spoiled me.
      Ps. Paid for with my own money.

      @localrouteadv I have been wearing the Lattitude jacket and the Carlsbad pants. The jacket is way too hot above 80. I think next year when there are more supplies I will pick them up.

      it is not as cool as mesh gear, But tolerable up to about 85 degrees. IMO worth it for the gain in comfort.
