This is one of the most underrated cars of all time, and I like it!! Everyone thinks you're in a standard 3 series until they mess with one. Only two issues with the N54, and let's be honest, $400 for a hpfp and a couple hours to install? You bought a BMW, you pretty much don't care it's worth it. Turbo waste gate set-up issue? Who cares haha upgrade your charge pipe!! But, if you buy one with decent miles you're covered until 120k for those "problems" and with about $1200 in tuning upgrades it's a freaking beast!! Alpine trans flash?? Try that out!

I bought one about a month ago. 2009 with 80k miles. Red interior like the one on the video. Your statement holds so much truth. This car is beautiful and elegant and fast , BUT parts are expensive. Mine is currently needing a high pressure fuel pump that cost 700 dollars without labor. Take that into consideration when purchasing these types of vehicles. Make sure you can afford the maintenance. Invest a little time and research and I’d say you can do a good amount of work on your own and save a couple yourself a couple hundred dollars. But again, it’s an amazing machine.
N54 is a great motor, mines done 140,000km and goes mint! Just normal stuff like injectors, valve cleaning etc and waterpump had been done by me, but totally worth it, bloody fantastic car!
Good review. As an owner of a 335i 08, I must add that the twin turbos can be a time bomb for $. If you need to replace them from the dealership, it will be about $6K+ (Parts alone are about $4K). If you're in the market for a used one, please set aside a reserve for maintenance because it is EXPENSIVE and one item can easily be $500+. That said, I really enjoy this car and I have added Dinan stage 2 that really adds a huge kick.

Chances the HPFP was changed under warranty so the only thing to worry about in these cars in the long run is carbon build up due to the direct injection but other than that they're awesome. That's why I'm not sold on direct injection because whatever fuel costs you save will go towards getting the carbon cleaned out every 2 years so you really save nothing but the companies will market it differently.
I think Audi is using both the port and direct injection method in their FSI motors so the intake valve gets washed with fuel. The new DI motors in the MBs are too new to have issues so time will tell. Right now your best bet would be to go with an MB with the older M272 unit, smooth as silk and bulletproof reliable except the early build ones.
"It's a small car." - Yes, in the US it is. Never heard anybody say this, if it was they were still talking about an E30. Current 3-series is large and heavy. Hence, they've made a 1 and 2 series. Which are ... yes.
Buy the 2009 335i E62 (Coupe) with 7speed dual clutch and the N54 engine. This gives you killer looks, power and fast gear shifts. Just check that the high pressure fuel pump has been replaced and then you good to go.
If you're considering an M3, you should look into the 335i with the JB4 tune. Completely blows the M3 out of the water while saving you about 20-35 g's.
Of course go for you option if you only care about 0-60 beside the sound of a V8, M car has very unique style, like the hood, side grill, exhaust and the rims, not to mention about the m suspension.
I have had this car for 8 years, and the cost to fix and maintenance the car really give me a headache. Something always break every years . It is extremely fun to drive though.
Picked up a fully loaded 2008 E90 335i. Came with factory backup and I-Drive Auto with Paddles. The interior seems to be Carbon fiber as well, idk if its original. Needs a ton of work though but I have already put 900 miles on it without getting stranded. Not bad for $2k USD.
How is the car now? Im thinking of getting a 2008 for 5500 Canadian but the costs scare me a little bit. I own a 2.5 golf and this thing is super reliable but I want something more exciting
@@Vitor-Moraes That car caught on fire, its gone. I got another one with higher mileage well maintained and put nearly 4,000 miles already hassle free. The only issue arised recently where the car had overvoltage from the alternator's Voltage regulator. Changing it myself but waiting for the part. If It's fixed, thats the only thing that has stopped the car from running at really high mileage. No oil leaks or anything. Long story short, with these cars. It is not about mileage, its about how well it was previously maintained. I have realized though, these cars are not daily drivers. They can be, but something will go wrong at some point. These cars, especially now 11 years old are weekend cars or "fun" cars. If you can keep your Golf, definitely pick one of these cars up. The look on Mustang GT's and Charger Scatpack faces as I blow past them are hilarious(Just Downpipes, Tune, Intake, Intercooler amd off the shelf tune gives 400+whp easy and over 430wtq). It's really the Ultimate Driving Machine. It will get addicting. I am at 414whp, 448wtq right now. I will be getting upgraded turbos soon when I sell my other car and get a gas saver 🤣 and push about 550whp/550wtq.
In your high mileage e90, what mechanical breakdowns have you experienced? Im trying to make up my mind whether it would be worth paying $3800 for my extended warranty. Has anyone spent over $3000-$4000 in repairs not maintenance or common wear and tear items? Thank you all who responds.
I don't understand it either. I guess it has to do with the fact that the steering ratio on most road cars makes it so that the paddles end up in very unpredictable and awkward locations during a turn, and it's always better to be able to reach to a consistent location for that gear change vs having to think about where it is constantly. But again, how often do you really need to shift during a big turn? Personally I find it easier when the paddles are mounted to the wheel simply because they tend to be closer to the fingers, without me having to reach very far.
When the paddles are mounted on the steering column they are always in the same place no matter how the wheel is turned so its easier to find up or down when your focus is on the road and the corners. Wheel-mounted paddles can change position when the wheel is upside down making up down and vice versa which is undesirable...
From experience: You're making a hard turn, you want to downshift, with a steering wheel mounted one, you're gonna have a bad time, because you don't sense where the paddles will be. With a column shifted one, you can do the shift because you know where they are by memory. Just like with a manual, you know where the shifter is.
My dad got an 07 328xi wagon for 20g last year it's by far the best car we've had but I do wish it was a rear drive 335i instead as it is a little slow (yes I do know the wagon was only available in 328i and 328xi)

The 2008 BMW 3 Series 335i Sports Car Review, Walkaround, Exhaust, and Test Drive By Redline Reviews #2008BMW3Series #2008BMW335i #BMW3Series #MW335i #RedlineReviews
Dear Soybean Fey, I currently own 06 G35 coupe and 07 TL type - s and plan to replace one of them for 08 335i. I haven't decided which one to trade in yet. My questions is what should I expect in terms of driving experience and reliability? I have never owned BMW before and I haven't had any reliability issues with my previously owned several Japanese sport sedans.
I own a 335xi with the n54 engine. Almost exactly the same car in the video. I want to say that it hasnt met my expectations in terms of reliability, but I dont feel thats an accurate depiction. Really, this car just requires a lot of attention ($) when it comes to regular and preventative maintenance. There are issues with developing misfires and issues with the High Pressure Fuel Pumps (HPFP), but thats due to inadequate maintenance. If you use the right oil, at proper intervals (5-7k miles, not 14k miles as BMW suggests), you probably wont see much fuss from the HPFPs. The issue with developing misfires is largely in part with the nature of DI FI engines. Spark plugs and coils wear faster(they both *are* wear items) in this type of environment. Its simply the nature of the beast. Luckily, with the aid of the $20 spark plug socket required, troubleshooting and fixing these issues are infinitely easy. In my personal opinion, I think all of the downsides are outshined by all of the upsides. Its a wonderful car to drive. Sports car when you want it to perform, magic carpet ride cruiser when you dont.
atarparker That's a known issue with the 335xi's. I own one here in Alaska and looking at the carfax report, it looks like the previous owner in New Jersey had the injectors replaced about two years before I bought it (I bought it early last year). One thing I notice with my car is rough idling in cold mornings, and when I punch it on the highway and literally FLOOR the pedal, the car will stutter, the check engine light comes on and it has a bad shake (like a misfire). I have to park it, turn it off and turn it back on. The check engine light turns off and I'm back to driving normally again. The car, however, is super solid. The turns I take around the mountains give me a serious boner and the sound of the engine is like no other. Thankfully I haven't ran into any major issues other than a $60 oil change that was forced upon me when noticing that my oil levels were dropping (I had a bad o-ring on my filter cap). I did read somewhere that a trip to the dealer and a request to "update" the computer tackles much of the misfire issue. I also read that the misfire is due to a lack of proper configuration in the exhaust chamber inside the pistons of the engine. Apparently carbon builds up overtime to the point where the injectors become unusable, and the dealer's own "injection cleaning service" doesn't really help it much.
zak anthony FAIL. I use nothing but Chevron premium fuel and for the better part of a year, my car still rough idles. Whether it's -30 degrees or 70 degrees here in Alaska, the problem still exists. Once again, this is a manufacturer defect stemming from BMW.
I have a 335xi with the N54 engine, mated to a 6 spd auto. Its almost fully loaded sans the I Drive system (personal preference). Getting to the point: I think the 6spd auto shifts painfully slow if youre not in DS mode. I can eat a sandwich between those shifts.

Redline Reviews Avoid early models with the cumbersome iDrive interface? More like avoid any model with iDrive - you're paying a premium for a crap system. I have a 2008 535i LCI with the updated iDrive and I hate it. My 335i has no iDrive because it simply takes away from the driving experience. Sport package (specifically the sport models with the oil cooler) is a MUST. DO NOT buy a 335i without an oil cooler unless you don't drive it hard.

Justin Brown Mercedes too!
nice review man
Awesomeness. Great review
The 328 does have dual exhaust with two outlets on the drivers side - not just dual tips!
great review.......that is one clean looking used/old car
I like the fact that there was multiple warnings lights when he started the car😂😂
just copped one of these yesterday and i love it "}
Xfadedcreation do all 3 series BMW's have to have premium gas?
+Tyler Plays0023 generally my dad says no matter what I have to put in premium when he lets me drive it
+Tyler Plays0023 agreed I only use premium on mine
Tyler Plays0023 owned an e46 320i for 3 years and always used premium, looking for e90/92 335i next :D
Tyler Plays0023 lol just realised you commented that over 2 years ago😂
I know its an older car, but you should do a review on a 2007 C230!! Id like to get your feedback on it. Ive been looking into buying one and there is none at my local dealerships and carmax has some but id have to pay for them to ship it. So itd really help me out if you can do a review on it.
Great video 👍 thanks for sharing!
Right now your best bet would be to go with an MB with the older M272 unit, smooth as silk and bulletproof reliable except the early build ones.
only to find out that the HPFP is going to fail again?
"It's a small car." - Yes, in the US it is. Never heard anybody say this, if it was they were still talking about an E30. Current 3-series is large and heavy. Hence, they've made a 1 and 2 series. Which are ... yes.
I just got this car it's really fun to drive
Lies........i see a vw jetta in your driveway
Why Is Water Wet LMFAOO
Buy the 2009 335i E62 (Coupe) with 7speed dual clutch and the N54 engine. This gives you killer looks, power and fast gear shifts.
Just check that the high pressure fuel pump has been replaced and then you good to go.
Mark Tierney manual is better
Excellent review
If you're considering an M3, you should look into the 335i with the JB4 tune. Completely blows the M3 out of the water while saving you about 20-35 g's.
Of course go for you option if you only care about 0-60
beside the sound of a V8, M car has very unique style, like the hood, side grill, exhaust and the rims, not to mention about the m suspension.
@@kakin121 all things that can be modified
All e90 335i's have xenon headlights standard but an option for the 328i's.
I have had this car for 8 years, and the cost to fix and maintenance the car really give me a headache. Something always break every years . It is extremely fun to drive though.
Elaborate. Like do you treat it like dirt 🤣🤣
My fav gen of 3series =D
Nice Review Of 2008 BMW 335i 😁
Can u do a review of a 04-08 Toyota Matrix XRS? Nice review! I love the old 5-series BMW
Bout to cop one of these right now, what exhaust makes it sound a tad beefy?
E92 335i FBO for me. Roll on October!
In your high mileage e90, what mechanical breakdowns have you experienced? Im trying to make up my mind whether it would be worth paying $3800 for my extended warranty. Has anyone spent over $3000-$4000 in repairs not maintenance or common wear and tear items? Thank you all who responds.
My dream car.
Why do some people like the paddle shfters mounted on the column instead of the steering wheel? Wouldn't it be easier to shift this way?
I love your bmw sedan 👍😀😍
I'm getting a 2008 325i (as we dont have 335's in india) for abt 10k$ and 41k, auto. An ecu water damage was replaced at the dealership as per the owner and hasnt had any issues since. Good buy?
Sounds like a terrible deal. Is it still working?
You could get the 3 series with all wheel drive since like 2000 not 2008.
we were referring to the 335i models

I'm thinking about purchasing a 2008 328i with 70,000 miles. Yay or nay???
Yes, i have one and it is great.
Yay but service it
Check the carfax for accidents and find out its maintenance records. if it all checks out you should be good :)
I mean i have a 335i lol. Same model year tho...
I dont know anything about cars. What was the black gunk coming out of the exhaust when he revved it?
Cold exhaust plus hot air equals condensation which picked up carbon. Not a problem.
335's have issues with injectors, probably unburnt fuel.
Terminus HQ. Solution is Shell v power

The 2008 BMW 3 Series 335i Sports Car Review, Walkaround, Exhaust, and Test Drive By Redline Reviews
#2008BMW3Series #2008BMW335i #BMW3Series #MW335i #RedlineReviews
What ever you do. Do not replace that tl.
architect1803 using premium fuel should eliminate these problems.
zak anthony
FAIL.

Kind of tired of just seeing BMW reviews from you guys. How many 3 series are u guys going to review!?!?
BMW just has way too many versions of the 3-series to cover :)
2theRedline Can you guys try to find a 2008 acura TL type S and make a review for it? i saw for the base one but i want to see a Type s review! that would be great!
Redline Reviews Let me know if you want to come to Cali and try mine with tuned with JB4 and Pump flash. My 3 series is pushing some heat! The JB4 is a very popular upgrade and I'm sure a lot if users would love to see the reviews.
What? Redline Reviews has a lot more BMW reviews/walkarounds? That's music to my ears. I'll go check them out right away.
Keep 'em coming BMW$LIFE
I don’t know why the car didn’t start without the key in the fob, I have the same car n as long as the key is close, foot on the brake n push the button n it starts
I have a 325i 06 and i put it on the dyno bmw claimed it made 215hp mine was making close to 230hp and I've beatin v6 chargers challengers mustangs and camaro and a few v8 trucks
DO NOT buy a 335i without an oil cooler unless you don't drive it hard.
please make a review of 2008 BMW 328i
I hav a chance to buy one a 2008 119 k miles all service done at Bmr for 10 k ? What do u think ?
Too many miles IMO bmws over 70k miles take a lot to repair check how well it's been maintained
+totljag1 Check Out my channel for 2012 e92 Walkaround, Exhaust, and Instagram Pics!!!
+totljag1 I'd stay away from.. you'll be running into some costly maintenance at that mileage.
+Ca Nadian thepride (MrCanadianPride) how is the maintenance on the car ? any problems ?
10k is tooo much they are selling where i live for 7k or 8k
Do a review on the bmw 645ci
You got that right!!No cats!!
I use to have 2008 335 convertible years ago and now the steering wheels are so loose! I can’t even drive anymore unless I buy an old car
You should service the car. Thats what the icon on the dashboard says.
Could u do the BMW 330i e46 05 pls, I plan to buy it soon I need more review and infor about it pls pls pls pls
why don't you(here's a crazy idea)do some research yourself?
Dude if I did the research I wouldn't ask him to do it and some time writing research doesn't help. And this is UA-cam not google stupid!! Btw why was this matter to u??
Thanks for ur suggestion I'm very appreciate it. But I, myself like to watch a video more than read the whole page of the forum.
would this be a good first car?
In the video review of the 328i you said that you've driven the 328i a lot and you never get tired of it. Here you say that the 328i just bored you... Make up your mind...
Looking at this car, but I'm wary of german reliability & maintenance costs. For anyone who owns/has owned one, how are they? Thanks!
