Fantastic presentation, video editing, and of course Bass Pro Shops t-shirt lol. I definitely would have kept my Embassy Bass if it wasn't for the bridge, but over it's a huge improvement over the Thunderbird.
I think the ergonomics of the thunderbird is that you use your elbow to push the rear of the bass down and play by the neck, like John Entwistle. Still feels terrible either way.
Totally agree.Aside from the neck dive that a wide strap solves, I love everything about it.I own 35 basses and have owned many more this has the best p bass tone I ever heard.
I have a number of acoustic and electric guitars but only two electric basses. Back around 2008 I bought a demo 5 string bolt on neck bass that was sent from Rossville, Georgia USA. On my first ever trip to the US I went to Winter NAMM 2010 and purchased a 5 string neck through bass. Out of almost every single type of guitar that I have ever owned, the two basses have never been sold or traded. They are the Warrior brand that you mentioned but nowhere near the price you showed. In my humble opinion, mine are perfectly balanced with no neck dive, a huge variety of usable sounds from the active preamps, the neck and fretboard play like butter and both basses have an oil and wax finish that is near frictionless. The exotic woods used in mine always get attention, even from those of a non-musical background. Functional works of art.
Gibson made several basses in the Norlin era (and after) that used the TB PU's and sounded pretty terrific. Some used the Schaler bridge. There are some gems you can find for little money like the Bass IV. The Victory had the TB tone more than the TB did, but it weighed more than a T-40. On the issue of the Orange bass, I agree. I've had two of them that I got for $200 just for yucks. The balance is terrible. The tone with a better PU (the stock is junk) is not P-bass...not sure why, but it sounds much different. I will have to measure the placement for each to see if that's the difference.
What I find funny about the tltctric bass is that it was made for portability, but when you add a powerful amp and speakers, it is not very portable. You can pump DI into the PAbut you need a PA that can handle it. A guitarist I used to practice with had a very modern shaped bass, but the balance was somewhere around the 12th fret. I currently play an Ibanez SR5FMDXEGL SR5FMDX SR Premium 5str Bass, Emr Grn LGlss. I'd prefer a RIC 5 string with the triangular pickups, but it costs too much. I also have an Ibanez BTB745, which I like the sound of, but the width and depth of the neck is hurting my fingers. It's neck-thru, which I like, but the new bass sounds good and is much lighter and has a fast, narrow beck, The balance on both is good. Both basses are active, the BTB had Bartolini II pickup which I thought were great. The new one is active too, but it uses large single-col pickups with a 3 way active system, the body top is flame maple green and the fretboard is birds eye maple. It plays well and doesn't hurt my fingers.
It's absolutely more portable. Ever try to fly with an upright? Or take it on a bus? Sure, the amps can get just as big, but they're not nearly as fragile and they're square so they pack better.
I liked the Klos Apollo bass the first time around when the headstock said "Status" on it and they didn't drop it headstock first off the roof of the Empire State Building.
I really like your work ... but I barely agree with your comment on the Orange. The horrible balance, standing up, can be surprisely corrected by placing the strap nut on the other side ( got a picture of you like) and with flats, the osund is really really interesting, like non of my other P basses ;-) ... have a good one, keep on the great work !
Personally I've never understood the Thunderbird hate. Having been a double bassist for 10ish years expecting/needing an instrument to balance perfectly is silly. If you're taking your hand completely off the neck then that's likely a bad habit anyway (economy of motion and all that). Bridge is what it is, but I don't like standard Fender ones either so. Also on that you can not like the execution but designing a bridge that matches the curve of the fingerboard is much more logical than having all those posts like many bridges do considering the fact any good guitar tech tells you to match the curvature of the fingerboard and that the saddles need to be parallel to the body. That's a huge oversight I've never understood, frankly shows how willing companies are to just copy each other instead of simply evaluating a problem and solving it in the most logical structurally sound way
Thank you, thank you, & thank you for saying what I’ve been saying for decades about the Thunderbird. An opinion that has done nothing to improve my popularity on the subject. Yes, it looks cool as hell. But, IT’S A PIECE OF SHIT!

Imagine an acoustic bass with a thunderbird bodyshape...
Satan? Is that you?
Now I'll have a nightmare about this, thanks.
Like a Thunderbird isn't big enough already.
They could call it a Gibson Thunderwood
Something like fenders acoustisonic series but bass?
That's the Lobster! 01:46
Great messaging. Note: The ending "Cut-Off" was a little incomprehensible.
Am I the only one who doesn't know what was the last one?

Respectfully disagree about the O bass. It sounds amazing and sure it has neck dive, but it still plays amazing and it sounds fantastic on recordings.
Totally agree.Aside from the neck dive that a wide strap solves, I love everything about it.I own 35 basses and have owned many more this has the best p bass tone I ever heard.

I agree that acoustic bass guitars are the most useless things on the planet. And I would never get that Orange bass just for the way it looks.
One of my favorite basses of all time will forever be the Jaguar bass. I love the body shape and the pickups it has
I really like my 2005 Epiphone Thunderbird
I like the video but what is the best bass again? didn't quite understand the last part... Maybe I am missing something
It’s my Serek Lincoln. Same bass I gave the number one spot to in my video last year.

Gibson did put that sound into a good bass. It was called EB14
What was the best bass? I honestly could not make out what you were saying.
Loved everything about this video. More please

I went to comment on the Embassy being the answer to the T-bird problem and realized later in the video you made that very comment on it lmao
I liked the Klos Apollo bass the first time around when the headstock said "Status" on it and they didn't drop it headstock first off the roof of the Empire State Building.
Sounds like a different kind of bass, but I could be wrong.

1:20 there’s already an acoustic instrument that does that design, it’s called a harp guitar. 😂
Hey I want a p bass but I don’t want to be a p bass player please send help
Got you covered dude, Jazz bass, solo the front pickup.. it's more p bass than a p bass.. but then you're a j bass player.
Take T- bird and put emg pickups for t-bird. You can choose from p bass, jazz, musicman and everything in shape of t-bird humbacker :D
What was the last bass?
a Serek Lincoln
Gotta think when Ripper & Grabber basses were well received Gibson was annoyed.
good job! u make people hate ur ending part

I'm pretty sure I'm a harbinger of failure. I have an orange o bass and a wii u and my favorite soda is vault.
That just means you’re a risk taker. Failure would be not trying stuff at all.
I think I saw Lobster
I thought it was him too, as well as bully thakidd towards the end
Yep! We were all at NAMM together. ua-cam.com/video/5JpTzIeY0IU/v-deo.html
3 down 1 to go thanks Amp
Great video. Gibson blew it. Bass builders smoke a lot of bud to come up with some of those whacky designs.
pretty nice mate
The Oooh Bass...

B E E G
Enjoyed that! Thanks. Most of these worst first things get boring.
So glad you enjoyed this! New format for me, but given the response we’ll be doing more like this going forward.
So....
Can I call you Bass Jesus?
😀👍❤️🎸
You wouldn’t be the first! 😇
You lost me at gold hardware 😜
I like. You funny.
That's what she...
HAHA! Love the slams on the bad ones.
Serek Lincoln hell yeah I need one
Good show.
The end of your video is obnoxious
