be prepared to give it time to accustom to. They are so different in almost every regard. If you are anything like me, first contact will be Yikes! wtf is that thing. Awesome basses! I've owned/played many of these over the years but my favourite will always be the Mustang (yes... I'm short). The one I use on most of my recordings is the P/J Mustang - it has the P bass thump, with Jazz clarity, whilst maintaining that classic Mustang feel. Very unique and cool bass, also comes in a cool root beer sparkle color.

Hey Danny - I'm soooooo glad that you mentioned price while not holding it against the manufacturer. Oh so many reviewers automatically rail against the manufacturer when they are discussing Rickenbackers, etc... and it's really annoying. You buy what you like that you can afford - if you can't afford a Lexus or an Infinity you buy a Honda or a Toyota, or maybe even a Kia. Can't afford a RIc or an Alembic? Get a Squier P or J bass and tweak the EQ as best you can. Thanks again.

.......I liked the Musicmans out of your selection......my favourite actual bass SOUND is Hugh Hopper's, of the Soft Machine, whose band was the only band, during a classical music festival in Britain, violins, cellos, orchestras, symphonies......the only band with fretted electric bass, keyboard, rock drumkit.......to be a night amongst all the symphonies......Soft Machine also played at higher volume than other rock bands, you'd think they'd be quieter.....you needed to hear Hopper at that volume. My cheap bass choice is Guild, pricey choice RD from Gibson........I'm also more interested in basses with whammy bars than other bassists. 8:10

Always something new and genuine here, an oasis for bassists or for whom they try to become.
Very new effort and quite important to support, intending to laugh about about the too-serious bass experts that know every since. Being them the masters of our all.
We can do better than seeing what they show and Danny Sapko shows how it is. Before forgetting or throwing away our beloved instrument. Thank You, Sapko!
We can be good. Well, even if we don't play as Scott and Ian do (who ever know where and when they played?) we can be in our place a make a line for a song being different by some ideas, even if not the best in town.
Beginning with this strange ideas of what a line should be, more than 90% of the basslines that we know, they would never been recorded. They would have been a shame to hide. That's the 80s'. And more.
    Some great exceptions.

I bet that Epi Rumble Cat sounds very similar to my Epi Viola. With flats on that thing is the chef’s kiss of deep smooth tone. Some great choices here and some bonkers ones Danny. I sold my Gibson EB0 as the only thing it had going for it was it looked cool. Horribly heavy, and sounded like mud. And the neck dive WAS terrible!! Love my Squier VM mustang - you’re right they absolutely thump. If you can’t afford a MM Stingray, grab a Sterling - I love mine! So much bang for your buck there. Also love my Squier CV P bass like you but you’ve missed out on my my favourite secret weapon - Danelectro longhorn. Sounds like a P, looks the bomb is TINY for us hobbits and weighs NOTHING AT ALL. Apart from its looks, I love how light and easy to play it is, as a medium scale with a very slim neck, and the pick-ups aren't too shabby either 🤩

The Thunderbird Gothic is an awesome bass. My friend has one that I played quite a bit. You can really dig in with a pick, so it's especially great for rock/punk/metal, but I played every style of music on it and really enjoyed it. I'm not a huge fan of the celtic cross pick guard, but you could always change it to something else to make the bass a bit less "this bass is for metal playing only yeaahhh!!"

I have a mid-00s vintage white MIJ Mustang with flats. It’s fantastic. You can really nail that Holger Czukay sound.
Also, day 1 of asking for a Holger Czukay behs tone vid.

I scratched up enough cash in 2014 to get a Stingray HH, and it's the only bass I've had since. They're amazing instruments.

Have the Sterling Stingray short scale. Definitely feels higher quality than anything else I’ve tried (even the Gibson LP Junior DC Bass from about 5 years back). Only thing I’d want changed is a second pickup.

My over the sea BEHS brother,
A tear rolled down my cheek when I saw that the 4003 didn't make the top three.
    I mean, I thought...
    Oh never mind.
    Keep 'Rickin'.
    You kick ass.

I've got a CV mustang bass and a GSR206. Love them, though the mustang is a little bit hard to hear if tuned down at all, or even just drop tuned.

I've got a 4003, and it seems like I can't get through a whole set with it. But it is beautiful, and sounds great. Mapleglo with checkerboard binding. My MusicMan Stingray Special is my main gigging bass. It really does hit all the marks. People say they're a one-trick pony, but I don't see it. I got lucky and got one of the Flea Jazzes with a straight neck. Love that bass, but how the hell are you supposed to adjust the neck? Backwards tuners got me at first, too. I've got a German Warwick that I really need to have looked at. It sounds great, but you can't slap on it. A Warwick you can't slap? Who ever heard of such a thing. Plus it's 11.5 pounds.

ernie ball made a sabre with the fully rosewood neck (not just the fingerguard) that was insanely good, but they are very hard to come by now. But I love my 5 string stingray deluxe..

I keep feeling remiss at not commenting on the Epiphone Allen Woody Rumble Cat Bass. Looks Good. I like the pickup placement kind of like certain Hofner Behses. Not the wide apart neck and bridge setup but the close to the neck behsier sound. Two volume knobs and one tone knob is good for me. MK
