You should really check out MAD SEASON - LONG GONE DAY there you have Layne Staley his voice combined with Mark Lanegan from screaming trees and this is also a great duet like the duet you hear in down in a hole.
I grew up in the 80's and experienced all of this great music and I agree it's weird when the greats pass on and you realize that's it. I like the way you do your vids I hate when content creators stop every minute and talk forever, I like the way you do it by summarizing everything afterwards.
I feel that way with Frogs...but the whole performance is top notch. Nutshell will always have a special place for me though..that song helped me through many hard times.
Never got to see Layne Staley he passed away April 5 2002 at 34 from drug overdose RIP. Got to see them live opening for guns in roses in October 11th 2023 still very well done even with the new lead singer William Du Vall
Watching this shit bums me out..layne is DYING here!! He has his eyes closed and nodding the whole time and he lets Jerry carry the chorus so he doesn't accidentally mix up the word which he almost does..after he almost mixes up the chorus lines layne stops singing any of the chorus that doesn't repeat (down in a hole ect ect).. as à recovering addict myself I can see what layne is pushing thru..even tho he is slowly dying before our very eyes he still sounds like layne! His issues never diminished his actual voice even tho it did effect how seldom they performed live..im glad he was able to pull it together to make this memory not only for the fans but for himself n his brothers! Those guys didn't get to see much of layne after this show before he passed away..
Layne and Jerry singing together was always like heaven. Love Hate Love live at the Moore is essential Layne, one of the best vocal performances ever. No Excuses and What The Hell Have I are two of my other favorites. I would never be upset about a reactor not saying anything during the video. Watching you fall in love with it organically is more satisfying to me than anything else.
"Love Hate Love" at The Moore (1994) might be Alice in Chains' best song performed live. It captures that brief period in Layne's career where he was at his peak physically (before the bad times got to him). He is also surprisingly good at working a crowd.
I understand growing to enjoy this music later in life. I loved more hip hop and r and b as a youth but have become absolutely obsessed with the grunge era as a grown man.
'Get born again' by Alice in Chains was one of the last songs that Layne Staley recorded ... Awesome song, but very dark 🤘🤘 Some more obscure AIC songs include - 'What the hell have I?' ... 'Fear the voices' ... 'A little bitter' ... 'Frogs'... 🔥🔥
@@nikkireviewsdefinitely gotta do what the hell have I, even has a video. Was made for the soundtrack of the movie the last action hero. One of the coolest riffs ever in my book
Its like he is singing at his own funeral. His demons got a hold of him tightly here. He even had to get a fix before the set. He still put on an epic show. Layne is missed.
Hey girl!!! I had no idea you had a reaction channel!!! ❤❤❤ Alice in Chains is a top 5 favourite band of mine. I first heard them when I was 15 or 16.. heard Man in the Box on Headbanger's Ball. 30+ years later, still a huge fan. :)
Oh my gosh, HI!! 😂 I'm surprised to see you, I didn't really share anywhere about this channel. 🤭 Thank you for stopping by and for leaving a request too! 😁💛
@@nikkireviews you came up on recommended as I was binge watching AIC reactions lol!! I love seeing people get blown away by one of the greatest bands to ever grace this earth! 🥰 and Love, Hate, Love live at the Moore is one I owned on VHS back in high school. Absolutely the best live vocal performance imo!!!
Tremendous! Most of the people with really animated and hectic "reactions" are not reacting. They are acting. They do it for the purpose of being listened to, instead of listening and immersing themselves. Focusing on their own "performance" in front of a goddamn laptop camera. They are doing the opposite of reacting. They are acting. I will take someone any day, who actually sits down, pays attention, opens their mind and shuts TFU for a moment in authentic engagement with the artistry put before them, over some loud fool who's just trying to sign you up on their Patreon. Well if you're reacting to grunge and The Warning I gotta start paying more attention! Check out Man in the Box mv AIC. And don't forget Soundgarden and Nirvana🤘🙌 ps the young female band Plush (who toured with The Warning last year) does a great cover of this, lead singer has an amazing voice!
It’s funny you knew about the friends don’t let friends cut their hair nugget. Bassist Mike Starr is also unfortunately someone who lost a battle to drugs, really sweet guy.
While he did live for another 6 years after this show, you can already see how sick Layne was. He had to shoot up just before going on stage. He did this to stave off feeling Dopesick. Just unbelievably sad…😞
Why everyone is bringing up only Layne Staley j don't get. Jerry Cantrell wrote the song and his harmonizing with Layne gives it the haunting sound i think they were going for.

The line Layne sings: “l have been guilty of kicking myself in the teeth” is sadly ironic because this show was towards the end of Laynes life and career due to his addiction and he had lost most of his teeth, which gave him a lisp. Also, at 3:41 you can see Jerry (long hair) turn around and smile at band mates. This is because they didn’t think Layne would be able to sing well and hit the high notes due to his condition. When Layne nails the first one, Jerry turns around and smiles as to say “see, he’s still got it!”
He had not lost most of his teeth here that is a myth, you can literally get glimpses of them throughout the show and they did another show after these where you can see his teeth. His teeth obviously weren’t healthy so he did all he could do hide them but it’s a total myth that he was missing most of his teeth, he would’ve never done this show if that was the case and if he did he’d sound terrible. Also he was alive 6 more years after this so he wasn’t really super close to the end of his life, he still had time to turn his life around at this point. He obviously wasn’t in great health but people really over exaggerate shit when talking about Layne and this show
@@puppetmaster8551 you’re right, I wasn’t there nor did I know him personally, and maybe that is a myth, but it was reported by several people that were close to him and interviewers that his teeth were rotting and he was letting himself go by this point. This was pretty much the end of his musical career, and yes, he lived 6 more years after this but he was basically a hermit and wasn’t seen much after this, by his family or band members. So I the grand scheme of things, this was towards the end of his life. I’m a huge fan and not an idiot. I do know a lot about him and his life, but am always open to learn more. Thanks for your input.
