Just a suggestion, but you should really get a thumb for that backhoe. It will make this so much more usable for other jobs.

Pretty cool new toy Nathan. Your son was photo bombing you in the background when you started digging. He was racing in circles around your truck was waiting for him to do a youtube funniest video moment.
You work hard and have a clear vision. The right tools in your hands will lead to bigger and better future projects you will tackle.

I remember the first time I ran a backhoe and it liked to make me plumb insane as I would lift instead of curl the bucket and the dirt just stayed where I stirred it up at.. I was so embarrassed that I didn't want to face anyone for a part of the day... best to take it out of the package at night and practice out of sight of the other neighbors. After a couple days I got lots better but then when I got on my excavator... of course the controls are different yet the same levers and I couldn't do all that well with it. I did get better but never good at it. I'm thinking that the build is coming right along though Nathan. So drop another one right quick so we can see it come to life

I think that you may find that having to constantly move from tractor to backhoe and back again to move, will be a bit of a pain.

Nice! On my way tomorrow to have a new BY85 installed on my TYM T454 (cab). Was nice to see your cab tractor running it since most of the videos have an open station. Maybe open the rear window and get some of that cold AC flowing past your back? 🤣

Another suggestion for the backhoe . The control levers have a bend in them . Loosen the jam nut at the bottom of the levers and rotate them. So that the upper handles are at the widest position. Therefor giving you more room. Where your hands shouldn't be hitting each other.

  • @wrfarms9741

As posted below a hydraulic thumb is a must for usefulness and if you have not already, try extending and retracting ALL of the backhoe cylinders to full several times to ensure all of the air is bled out of the cylinders. There seems to be more rebounding (jerking back & forth) of the dipperstick, swing cylinders, and hoe boom than is normal (at least for my liking). Somebody at TYM was thinking ahead by including a backhoe subframe. Transmission bellhousing don't do well without them. Nice looking rig! 👍
